      HI, Thank you for choosing CTEK! That depends what type of battery that is mounted in the vehicle. If it is an AGM or GEL (should be a marking) Do NOT use RECOND, If it says MF, Ca/Ca, WET it is a good solution to choose RECOND once or twice a year. I hope this helps. Best regards CTEK Support

    hello
    I am using a msx 10, in my campervan, (two agm 90amph batteries) I would like to move the charger approx. 6 ft away from the batteries, IE: extending the cables to the battery from charger) will this have a detrimental affect on the charger or batteries, your advice would be appreciated

    • @CTEKBatteryChargers
      @CTEKBatteryChargers  2 года назад

      HI Wendy, Sorry for a late reply. Christmas is nice, but prolong answering times. If you prolong the cable between the battery and the charger will lower the voltage and risk undercharge the battery. The MXS 10 is made to give the correct voltage at the clamps, if you prolong the cable there will be a voltage drop. This drop will prolong the charge time and will also, as mentioned, risk undercharge the battery. if you have a possibility to exchange on the AC side, that would be better, or look at the M25 or M15 which are a bit stronger but more important, have a 5m lead between the battery and the charger. I hope this will help you. Best regards CTEK Support

    Hello, I have been adised to remove the battery completely from the car when using the RECOND mode as it is passing higher voltage upto 15.8v. I have an 1999 Nissan Almera GTI and also a 1999 Mercedes C Class and would like to know if it is safe to use the RECOND mode with all the terminals connected.
    Thanks

    • @CTEKBatteryChargers
      @CTEKBatteryChargers  Год назад

      Hello,
      As long as you have a WET or Ca/Ca battery, RECOND mode is safe to use with the battery still in the car, once a year to maximise lifetime and capacity.

    I have two 90 amp AGM batteries, fitted to my campervan, I wish to add a 240 volt charging system, would this item be suitable, also if set to AGM mode, and 240 voltage power removed, does this charger stay set to the AGM setting, or do I need to reset each time I apply mains power to the MSX 10

    • @CTEKBatteryChargers
      @CTEKBatteryChargers  2 года назад +2

      Hi. The MXS 10 is recommended for batteries up to 300Ah. So it will work well. If you have consumers using close to the 10A the charger is giving, it is a good idea to choose a bigger charger. If you consume less or not all the time - the MXS 10 will be a good choice. If there is a power drop and the charger stop charging, it will start up in the same mode (for ex AGM) when power gets back. It will go through all charge steps again to find the correct state of charge of the battery. Good Luck. Best regards CTEK Support

    • @CTEKBatteryChargers
      @CTEKBatteryChargers  3 года назад

      Hi, Depending on how fast you want to charge - you need to choose amparage, MXS 10 charges with 10 Amps and is faster than MXS 5.0 which charges with 5Amps and so on. Then you need to decide if you want the different charge posibilities that the MODE button will give you, If you want a lot of choices choose a MXS charger. If you want a "connect and forgett" charger, The Start Stop or Time to Go charger is a better choice. No matter of what charger you choose - it will take good care of your battery. The best charge - is the one that is done!. If you want more information please contact info@ctek.com Best regards CTEK Support

      @CTEKBatteryChargers  2 года назад +1

      @@statyisgod Hi. Thank you for your kind words. Charging inside when it is cold is absolutely a good idea! There is no speed charge option on the MXS 10, but as soon as light 4 is lit, you will have power enough to start your car. Using AGM mode will give a bit higher voltage and that will help when doing a start attempt. Don't disconnect the charger before you start the car, the voltage from the charger is a good help. I would do a start attempt after about 20 minutes - even if the 4th light is not lit - maybe it will not work, but probably.. If not - you have to wait a bit longer. A stronger charger will do this faster (PRO25S) . Good Luck. Best regards CTEK Support

    Hi Ctek.
    I'm a little disappointed. Now I had to replace an Exide 100Ah battery in my car after 5 years. I am disappointed because I used the Ctek mxs 10 charger for maintenance from the beginning. And he didn't even help her. How can this be? Yet Ctek promises that you can even double the life of your batteries with its chargers. But they say it's all fake. An unmaintained battery also lasts 5 years. My car’s generator is okay, so I don’t even understand why the battery broke down so quickly.
    Then it could also be that the battery I bought was factory defective and that’s why it broke down so quickly. The original battery in the car went 10 years. (BMW)
    Oh, I want to ask you something else.
    Does the EFB battery need to be charged in normal or AGM mode in Ctek?

      Hi. This mean that the charger can not find the battery. Due to poor contact or due to too low voltage in the battery. The MXS 10 need 2V from the battery to start. This limit makes the charger spark free and reverse polarity protected. If you have a good contact and the charger don't start. Change to SUPPLY mode for a minute and try with NORMAL again. That would do the trick. Good Luck. Best regards CTEK Support
