Honestly this is a great build. But to say the capabilities of am4 for budget. For $830 ($904 after shipping and taxes) I built a pc with a r5 5600 and a rx6800. I play in 1440p and it’s a blast. Most games I’m running in high or max settings and I don’t have a single worry about vram saying it comes with 16gbs. Is it a good buy? I’d say it’s pretty high up there for the fact that I could upgrade to a 5800x3d, which is a monster of a cpu, and depending on the GPU and resolution, it should run without much of a hiccup. Ddr4 isn’t that slow, in fact it’s not that much of a deal breaker because for gaming it’s not that dependent on ram speed. Sure you might gain “some” fps but not enough to really make it worthwhile. I’d value the amount of ram rather then comparing ddr4 or ddr5. Especially since having good speed with a low cache latency is all that’s really important when picking good ram. Great build but not ultra budget. But your build here is much better for future proofing. I took that into account but I’m still a little “future proof” because of the 5800x3d’s existence. (Because it’s faster than all of the base 7000 CPUs. Might even be faster then base 9000 saying that they’re only 1-3% faster then 7000.)(I’d only be really missing out on the 7000, 9000, and beyond x3d chips. But for my needs. By the time I’d wanna upgrade, am5 will most likely be extinct. Because of the 5800x3d being the heavy weight champion it is.)
Also something to note (yes I’m commenting as I’m watching, don’t judge me) having an ssd with a dram controller is insanely better than a cheaper ssd. Kravv and Kingston have some reasonably priced nvme gen4 with dram controllers that for almost any build over $800 I’d recommend. They can make your life significantly better, do I exactly know why they’re faster? No, but in my own testing comparing nvme’s with similar speeds (one with a dram controller and one without) on end is faster and better for gaming (I’ve never testing for workstation applications, I don’t really do that stuff henceforth my build choices) but they are faster on end and with a ddr4 build because easy to throw in.

If you can't find that good of a deal on the 7600, feel free to go with the 7500F, it's basically just the 7600 without integrated Graphics for around $170-$180, and runs cooler

Microcenter has a bundle rn for 7700x mobo and ddr5 ram for 400 (including tax) pair that with a 6750 xt and all u need to do is upgrade ur gpu every couple of years and u can upgrade the cpu in about 4-5 years (for those who do have a mc near them deff do this)

The rx 6750 xt is a hidden beast with a price range of 100 dollars less than the 7700xt but also similar performance. This will save us more money for asthetics without any major performance downgrade

Speaking of deals.. if you watch new egg close enough they will have bundles.. just a few weeks ago they had the 7800x3d, b650 mobo and 32gb of trident ram ddr5 for $430. Insane value there. Same bundle on the site today is 580

Just got a friend a ryzen 5 5600 with an Rx 7900gre for 1000 euros. It is bottlenecked a bit and he has less chance for upgrading in the future with AM4, but I still think it's gonna slap.
Definitely smokes the 7700xt or a 4060ti. I think if he upgrades to the 5800x3d at some point he'll be set for a few years.

Loving this video. I prefer these sorts of builds. I hate it when people invest in cosmetics before investing in the core components. At the end of the day, a ton of RGB won't make one happy if the actual PC turns out to be subpart...

How about a budget shootout....target being 4k30 for console titles. Shootout options being an AM4, AM5, and Intel bases with gpu options from Intel, AMD, and NVidia. What gets you their bare minimum? Best fps/$$? Best future facing platform? What corners to cut to maximize performance spend?

I like your arguments for am4 and ddr4. But im thinking 4 years into the future, i dont think i can afford a meaningful upgrade thats am5 anyways. I would probably still buy a 4090 or something (if its hopefully a budget option by then) rather than the latest gpu. Regardless, clean build and much love ❤

Corsair 750 for psu with an sn750 tb ssd. 2x16 Corsair vengeance ram ddr5. Around 1500$ and paid my buddy 100. Would’ve been cheaper to get consulting with you or just building this.

    I would have gone am4.
Looking at the mobo you picked it will throttle a ryzen 9. And in the future there probably will be an even higher powerdraw so you'll need a new chipset anyway.
That vrm only uses discrete mosfets not phases. So high power draw is out of the question.
Great work though looks really clean
