Stay Grateful friends
Never miss a Brent opener🎉
It was this show that my future wife got her first taste of the good ole Grateful Dead..WE danced all night and still are....
I love Brent, my favorite era of the Dead!
Jerrys sound is unreal during candyman. Beautiful.
This was the first year I started taping.. I mail ordered taper seats.. I had a nakamichi bx-125 and a set of nakamichi cp300 mics... Life was good in the tapers section... I miss all of you guys...
Love to watch Brent play!
This was actually my first show! Looking back, it is amazing to see what a privilege it was to be welcomed with THIS!!!
you prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know a trick to log back into an instagram account?
I somehow forgot my password. I would love any help you can offer me!
@Henry Darian instablaster :)
Great venue to see them Keith. I loved shoreline.
Once you start its hard to stop. ⚡❤
🙏
man im 17 and my dad was a dead head in the 70s on and man do i wish i could have seen jerry play just once. i love mayer and think he does great but man, if only i could have joined some of you great people at one of these entrancing events. what a perfect time in american history
I feel yab100🏴 percentile
It was a blast, buy Your time is now further and forward. Teach your parents well!
You know what we likes ! It was quite a ride ... 419 GD shows from 79 till the end in 1995. There was nothing like the good old Grateful dead!
It was Joe, '87 had a very promising energy and till '90 was the healthiest Jerry had been. U could tell it affected the boys and energy of the music. Listening to the Deer Creek '90 shows on this yrs release it's amazing how crystal clear the sound is on Jerry's guitar and the band. I'll never forget the Fadeaway encore. It was intense.
Hey now, just make sure you have a high quality stereo and a good frame of mind to match and you can still experience the magic. I mean real magick. The dragon lives forever! Remember, the original Grateful Dead was, in fact, dead.
😜⚡️💫🃏
I'm only recently discovering how fun and awesome Brent is. So much joy. Great show, thanks!
Pat Zimmer he is on fire for the pockey way opener
He’s totally fun and awesome and soulful, and also an absolute virtuoso musical genius. The level of interplay between Brent and Jerry that started in summer/fall 89 and went through Brent’s last took the band to new heights. And depths. 89 space could get to Bach concerto territory with Brent on the harpsichord and Jerry on the bassoon or French horn.
This was a Fantastic show..!! Miss you Jerry and Bill Graham.. RIP
Remember these 3 shows at Shoreline 10/87! Had a great time! 10-2-3-4./1987 October great doses & shrooms 🍺🍄!!!
Back in the days when I would drive 400 miles to see one show then back home after the show only to go to work the next morning with little or no sleep. It was worth it. Why I didn't fly is beyond me...
I drove up from Santa Barbara that night. Not as far as you. Back to Uni for class the next day.
Well...... kind of blown away no one had any great things to say about this show... Jerry was totally juked on his guitar as demonstrated during CandyMan followed by Masterpiece...
Guitar was tuned as good as it gets. Bobby obviously having a high time, as Brent and Phil had to turn it up to keep pace. Remember this was shortly after "In the Dark" hit big time. Soo did the Band. They were always Big Time, but never in spotlight as it was. It was a blessing, as well as a kiss of the inevitable. I was fortunate to see about 105 show from 1987 to 1994. I have tried out some Dead and Co. since then, but no where near the space your face kind of music the Band possessed during the Brent years. Love it all .... FOREVER
Starting out with Pocky set the tone%100
I love how they flow & blend effortlessly into different songs. It's incredible 🥰💖
I was here, fabulous :)
thank you for posting , that summer of 87 was awsome i was at these shows, coming from seeing them in oakland with dylan, hitting theses two, then down to laguna seca for 3 then back up to mountain air angels camp for 2 to close out the summer. sandwitched inbetween the shows i hitt up 2 pink floyd, rush and a metallica concerts
Time well spent...
I was at this show. Graduated from high school in '87. This was after my first month of college in Santa Barbara. Met a fellow head and we drove up the coast. I was at Laguna Seca as well. I remember the stunt planes came out between bands. There was a guy out on stage making weird sounds until I heard the plane coming in and the word "g force." It took a couple more minutes to realize he'd been talking in English about the planes the whole time. Whoaaaa! Reel me in. This was the first year I saw more than 10 shows. Saw a Dylan/Dead show as well.
Saw the Floyd show in L.A. as well. Same orbit as you.
All bands I love, I am jealous!
U lucky thing u , I loved Pink Floyd !
This was my first dead show, thanks so much for posting. This is a real treasure for me. So many memories of so many great people I enjoyed this show with.
I know you posted this years ago - this was my first show, too! We so luckily experienced such an eefin' great show!
Thanks for the post.
Was my birthday.
What a show !
Methane and other chemicals !
Miss the boys.
Anything 87 is so good. Brent souned fresh. Jerry was alive and refreshed on live looking healthy as ever for the 80s. The whole band was so on fire. Sure wish I could have seen Jer
Even when Jerry was bad, he was good...;-)
Yup.
Definitely some gold in here
The drum sessions in '87 were pretty intense. There was one @Alpine Valley that lead to sounds of bears n lions roaring that blew my wig clear back. Especially being 17 and experimenting with mind expanding tools. We had it so good back then!
Gone are the Days.
God Bless The GRATEFUL DEAD 🙏
We bless the Gratefuldead not god ! ❤️🐰🐇🎹🎼🌎🪕🎻🎸☠️💀🪐👽🛸☮️🥀 love in the air !
I fucking love the grateful dead man this minglewood is the best ive ever listen to
preach
Nice..funny glad music is kind of carrying on with Dead and co. But if you wonder why some of us are jaded towards d and c..just listen to the good ole grateful dead. Miss ya Jerry
Yo don't forget Brent. Bob has even said the years with him were some of the best years on the dead. 🌹 💀 🎸
This was a really fun night.... Thank you meters!!!!!.....
Sure is nice! So much joy on a day like this! Thanks!
Sounding good tonight boys
Grateful
Thank you for this!!
Ya glad I bumped n2 this masterpiece!!!
Awesome show

Thank you, perfect for a Sunday afternoon! 🌹NFA
Robert Hunter R.I.P........
Wow !! The LLrain is is terrific!!! Brent is prominent in the outro mix ! Sounds amazing
thank you
Love this version of West LA . . . Awesome !!
ripppppp philllllll
18 and on tour, one of my favs....
Me as well. I was at this show up from my first quarter at college.
This Stella Blue is permanently etched in my brain.
I love all the Gratefuldead but miss Brent ! Of course I miss Jerry so much it hurts me so bad ! ❤️🐰🐇🎼🎹🌎🎸🎻🪕🌹☮️🥀🥰☮️🥀let the music move ur soul ! Rock+ Roll baby !😂🤣
You know I couldn't agree more everyone won't shut up about that dead documentary that came out they didn't even mention Brent's death in that thing It just pissed me off. I think that's why Jerry went back to h
What a long strange trip that documentary. I mean I might have missed it but I could have sworn they didn't even mention Brent's death
Jerry has a beautiful voice, I’ve always thought
Thank you, fantastic show.
GODDAMN THAT WAS AWESOME!
😂😂😂
Bobby and his short shorts are killing me.
It's funny how with age his shorts have grown to capris. But the time he is 80 they will be pants maybe bell bottoms if he makes it to 90.
Funny how nobody wears them today. Back in the day I used to cut my jeans off just like Bobby. It was in back then.
iwt these shows were some of my favs i ever saw, been ato about 175 shows since 78 when my dad took me to winterland, he just died yesterday RIP i lOVE YOU DAD!!,, But yeah these were amzazing shows cumberland maggies was sick.with ablue dress good golly miss molly the next show was amazing ,also, called these the shorelines shows me and my freinds doing rails of yo and h on the hand rails and doing hippie crack in the hot rub with some girl underwater doing things i wasnt expecting lol,,so yeha these out of 175 shows were in the top shelf
You shouldn't mess with the hard drugs. Look what it did for Jerry and Brent.
WTF... this is gold. Lovelight teases in Cumberland.... and Brent/Jerry/Bob torching the end of Looks Like Rain... this is hot shite
Incendiary. Brent on fire. Everybody is on fire.
Brent's keys on Stella blue were cosmic delta 9 enhancing licks I wholeheartedly enjoyed.
This was amazing start to finish I was lucky to be there in the pit. NFA
Maggie's Farm - Cumberland Blues was FIRE!
Shadow boxing the apocalypse and wandering the land ✌️😎
killer first set
Whadaboud #2?
I took my future wife to her first show after a Niners game @ candlestick , a memorable first date....
i was there
I was too Dean. Sure miss the shows.
Can tell from the middle of Candyman that this one is fire. Bobby milking the jam during Minglewood earned a "what's up bud?" look from Jerry 😆❤🗣💨
10 seconds of this has more energy and vitality than any cover band show recently.
No cover band can come close to these guys ! I was always backstage ! ❤️🐇🐰🌹☠️💀☮️👽🛸🪐🥀🎸🪕🎻🌎🎼🎹
this is fun. Weir calls the place a trash pile and Garcia smiles the whole first set. lol
Thanksss...!!! ;)
You know Big Jerry's not fucking around when he busts out _Candyman_ as his first song of the show...
Mickey wearing the Sf giants shirt. They kicked butt back in those days. Will Clark, Kevin Mitchell, Matt Williams etc.
Bobby wearing Tamalpais Chiefs shirt!!
I took my future wife on a first date to a Jerry and Merle show at the Keystone in Palo Alto in 1979. Best $8 I ever spent.
T for right here wherever we are...
😂😆
It’s all perfect as far as I’m concerned !
Train 🚂
Brent should have become the front man. Dude invigorates not just Jerry, but everyone else too. Billy grinning ear to ear and dancing during Hey Pocky Way says it all...
I'm sorry but his train songs SUCKED. He never picked up the Hunter-Barlow songwriting bug and wrote intolerable "time to run to the bathroom during this song" songs. Great keyboard player, crappy songwriter.
And with Jerry there, you think BRENT should've been FRONT MAN? How about Donna? Is she second on your list for out of tune lead singer?
Brent was 1 best members of GD ever
Agreed
Absolutely. They absolutely peaked and then he was gone...like a steam locomotive...
@@fleetingverse4135 a steam locomotive running on speedballs. shame. a waste of talent. wrote that song about his daughter. damn that one probably stings for her lifetime.
@@hippolargo4558 wrote what song about his daughter exactly?? He’s gone? That’s about Mickey’s dad.
He definitely brought a soulful kind of New Orleans vibe to the band very big loss when he passed away. He was also a songwriter and he and Jerry collaborated together to write songs so that's a double loss.
How ‘bout that Maggie’s Farm>Cumberland? Woooooohooo, that’s the rippin good shit right there. Peak Dead.
best gd years of gd 420sho.....new years was the 1st show I saw and it was on USA network w/Bill W dressed as Fathertime RIP
of course those DaisyDukes
thank you 4 sharing PPV!!!!!!🐤🐦🦢🕊🌉❄🌨
Sweet
Cool,
Right after the Giants won the NL West as shown by Mickey's shirt.
My Brother Esau $$$ and a 2nd set Cumberland!!
hampton '87 the one with dear mr. fantasy, 1st show. 104 more after that w/jerry. pittsburgh '88, took over the band, the show w/ the riot outside, sorry about that.
I love 87. 11:17
I've always enjoyed the end of that solo Jerry basically pulls the strings up and makes that amazing last few strokes. It's almost like Jerry was a little irritated with Bob soloed so he just ges off there LOL but hands down the best part about that entire show and my opinion is right after that when Bob says
It's T out here in this garbage heap where the little girls know what to do 😮😮😢because he forgot where they were.
I never would have guessed what Bob said but it was bonus footage from some VHS dead show I had years ago and it had the lyrics turned on
Carbon fiber headless bass... Nice
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Chapter by Chapter / Verse by Verse !!!!!!! Amen
🦈👁
It is T out here and wherever we are out here in this garbage heap where the little girls know what to do I died laughing years ago when I came across that on an Old dead VHS bonus footage
87 !😍🎈🐢🐢🐢🐢
What I wanna know is what happened to the Grateful Dead’s Persian carpets
They used different carpets to make room if needed ! If u look at other shows u will notice this !
Bob's Esau was pretty damn sweet. What's the back story, if any, on why he dropped it?
apparently, he just didn't like the song (or So I've read)
edit: TLDR "It was the National's idea. I had to finally address the [lyrics of] the bridge, which was why I stopped doing it back when."
By then, Barlow had long since published the lyrics to his Grateful Dead songs, so I was able to read the lyrics. But the story remained vague and ill-defined to me, instead of becoming clearer with the possession of the words. Then, in 2012, at a TRI Studios broadcast, Weir brought it back, with some alterations in the lyrics, meant to make the song more lucid.
From Alex Allan’s Grateful Dead Lyric and Song Finder site:
Weir revived the song playing with members of The National in the Bridge Sessions at TRI Studios in March 2012. Thanks to David Gans for the info. Weir commented:
"It was the National's idea. I had to finally address the [lyrics of] the bridge, which was why I stopped doing it back when."
The new bridge is:
Esau won't miss his birthright anyway
Ain't like it's worth all that much today
edit: TLDR "It was the National's idea. I had to finally address the [lyrics of] the bridge, which was why I stopped doing it back when."
@@michaeliscoool Thanks, I always like that song. Used to play it on the jukebox somewhere...if only I could remember where. Place called Marty's maybe...
I never knew either but it wasn’t that good to me so I don’t care ! Plus he never had a brother anyways , he was adopted !
Hey Pocky wayyyy
1988 many good , energetic , crisp , 📢FUN 📣 Shows. 88 spring shows excellent 3 nights in New Jersey. Also the Virginia shows Especially April 1 st. Lots of the 88 shows look how the band has smiles on their face Jerry playing and singing with more gusto. Jerry came back just years before from the diabetic coma. Bottom line The Music Never Stops.
12:36 ...and it's T right here wherever we are, this garbage heap....
For those unaware, Shoreline was built atop a landfill
hi Peanut Productions!!! Really looking for October 4, 87. Would you by chance have that show??? Love your video! Nat
I do not have the 4th. The master tapes of these shows were loaned to me, and were originally recorded by Don Pearson.
new minglewood blues : "Here in where ever we are garbage heap- where the little girls know what to do" LOL
.. but accurate - Shoreline's built on landfill.
@@daveparrett7118 Yessss, and when everyone got to dancing up a storm on the grass hill in the back, it would release a bit of methane smell. That's where I was that night.
I sold a shitload of puna bud.. before the shows. And sierras's..
Wasn’t shoreline called dead at the dump? Anyway jerry sounds excellent as usual 🍭
It should have been!!...lol.. this was a pretty good night though.... Best thing about shoreline is the fact that you can scream at the top of your lungs..."kind bud here"and never get busted... Same with mountain view they never hassled me for selling Sierra Nevada's either ....
my bedroom window is made of styrofoam , i aint workin on maggis farm no more
hahahahah
✌ ☮
adams fam-ily
Last Esau played? Hoping D&C break it out!
O melhor de Las Condes é o Mandarin Oriental e o distrito de luxo ao lado do Parque Arauco.
Whoever produced this video, selecting the camera shots, knew shit about GD songs.
How about trying to be positive, and enjoying what we've got? Would you rather this or nothing at all?
Given that most of it is watching some dudes playing music onstage, you could always just shut your eyes and enjoy the sound if you don't like it that much.
Good Call!!
true
I think they really did know shit!😆
I mean, they’re crushing it, to use another ambiguous phrase. Switching to each player a second before their solos, 60% Jerry, 25% Brent, 15% everyone else, just how we want it!!
I'm sorry I meant nakamichi 250 portable... And cm300 shotguns... I get confusedafter all of the nakamichi equipment I have owned throughout the years...
More than half the time I can never hear bobs guitar. Maybe it’s my ears but even when I saw them live I barely ever heard him
I always thought they kept him too low in the mix. I don't know why.... Some of my favorite shows are the early years where you can hear Bob clear as day.
Healy kept him low in the mix on purpose.
Rhythm guitars are lower but check out the whammy stuff here.
ruclips.net/video/2TIk8ldFu-4/видео.html
U didn’t know how to hear is my guess Pete !
That’s bobs game. You’re not really supposed to hear him. Hes the hinge in the door. He’s the creak of the boat on the sea.
Audio sounds like a download
Of course I understand that the time frames don't exactly overlap like that so don't blow me up please..
Is it me? Or do the boys seem to have a more honed style a year before... And a year after.. releasing a studio album? Just saying.....
