Wow! Thank you for taking the time to do the match up ,it came out Grate. I really love the sound the dead had at this time ,well all through out the 70s. The mix of rock n country n mountain is so unique. I picture a couple outlaws just outside of town singing songs and telling stories around a campfire.
Thank you !! you did a great job imho it sounds real good. I only wish Healey - I'm guessing he was on the board as usual - would've let Bobby's guitar come thru the mix. Still sounds fantastic one of my many favorite Grateful Dead shows.
Absolutely loved these Roosevelt Stadium shows. One time stood in the rain for hours (tickets said rain or shine) they were out there trying to put up umbrellas in the pouring rain, lighting. They finally came out and said they couldn’t play but if we came back tomorrow they put on a show we would never forget. Came back and and. They played for 7 hours.
My first Dead show I remember it was suppose to be on my bithday July 2nd but they had to reshedule with the Bicentennial going on. If I remember tix were like 7 o 8 bucks for general admission on.the field. No glass bottles permited so i bought booze in a plastic jug. I had to go to school the next day and my buddy said I never thought you would be in today. Those truly were the good old days thanks to Sam for posting.
This IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!!! Thank you so much. Working, finishing up this truly fine recording, video, and show! Love the LOUD Phil bass and hoping they end with Althea but I’ll find out...may be One More Saturday Night. I don’t think you are an official Deadhead unless you’ve heard this show. OR WERE THERE!!! Glad to be able to witness it later down the timeline. Heart, heart, love, love, music on!!!!!

If I'm not mistaken, the tickets actually said "Rain or Shine"!!! So much for what was stated on the tickets. They couldn't risk getting the equipment soaked (including " the Wall of Sound ")!!! I'll say this much - it was well worth schlepping all the way back to Jersey City from northeastern Queens for this show!!! F**k yeah!!! 🎵🎼🎶
You youngsters who never knew a world without RUclips have no way of truly appreciating how amazing this is. Back in the days before the internet we only had scratchy old cassette tapes, and seeing actual video of The Dead in concert was virtually impossible. We didn’t even know such videos even existed! But then again, you youngsters never got to actually see them live on stage, in person, and this is all you have. So maybe it’s us old folk who were actually there that can’t truly appreciate how special this is!
I’m not so hard on the young ones that are finding the Dead for the first time. You can hear something great and say … hold on what the heck was that. I have a tendency to listen to songs of shows l went to that l thought sucked and were great and shows that l thought were great that sucked or Garcia would shorten Bobby’s song etc. Not ever show was great. RUclips is a gift. I got on the bus in 77 and still love them.
21 year old here. Ive been listening for about 3 years. I think the Dead might be the most video taped band. Theres SO much stuff on RUclips! As much as I would have loved to be able to go and actually see these shows, being able to listen to them is just as good. Seeing video of Jerry shredding, and the other boys just soaking in the jams is really cool. They look so intense and focused during the jams. Makes me wanna grab my guitar ✌️🌹💀
I ordered a copy of the GD movie to show at my high school in Pittsburgh in 79. Came in three cans I think...rented from who knows where. To the 21 yr old....welcome!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing!! Nice job. I missed some of this show, bc I was talking my buddy off the ledge, as the acid we bought did not seem to agree with him. lol Great memories!!

Thank you for posting! I was there also, still pissin' & moaning because of the previous rain-delays because Scher waited until the last second to announce. To this day the Chimp gives me nitemares.
@Kevin Caldwell 🥀🎩🦍🍒🪐 K.C. !! ☀️ (band) Incidentally , as I remember , that particular show was originally scheduled for July 2nd. , just two days before the bicentennial (and the actual day that the Declaration of Independence was intended to be signed . . but due to logistics of all the signers not being able to be present , which required Thomas Jefferson to draft another copy with the new correct date of July 4th) but was canceled due to a stabbing that occurred in the parking lot after a Yes concert . Other concerts that were upcoming were not canceled , including a KISS concert . (go figure) . So , the Dead concert was pre-empted without a 'rain date' . It was not certain that it would be rescheduled for several weeks . So that is where the real discrepancy was . So , the pressure or requirement placed upon Jefferson and his outstanding penmanship with quill and ink to produce upon parchment the document that we know today also had a bit of trouble with that date of July 2nd. . 🕊🦅
Donna sounds great! Thanks so much for sharing Sam. My first show was '89 in Atlanta when I was 20 so to get to see the boys, and the lady, in action like this during an era I missed (and my favorite era at that) is always special. Really nice work brother (~);}

Remember one of my Buddies had stolen/borrowed the Purple Felt Ropes & Brass Stands from the local Movie Theater in Kearny...we set up a 15 ft. square, and lined it with quilts for lying down (when needed) 50 feet dead center in front of the Band.......then millions of Dead heads surrounded us....and half my home town, from just across the Hackensack River. I/We were Peaking just as the Band hit the stage, recovering from that weird-azz Chimp performance.....too weird to recollect clearly after that, but...a good time was had by ALL. I also remember driving back home afterwards and at the Jersey Chity Circle another car & I bumped each other. We both stopped and got out swearing and shakin' our fists...until we saw each others Grateful Dead Shirts....realizing we had BOTH just come from the show, we laughed it off and waved good-luck to each other getting home. Ahhh the weird ol' daze.
I Always stood about 3, 4 rows back from the stage in front of Jerry. I Remember you guys on my way to the front. I Remember thinking, wow that’s an awesome setup, how the hell did they get that. Mad Props!
Thanks so much - also my first show. 16 years old. I well remember the tribal shuffle across the stadium beginning with Jerry's modified rockette leg kicks on Sugaree...highlights after that - "Music never Stopped - Scarlet", "Help on the Way/Slipknot/FT" & "Johnny B Goode" encore. Great show - sound is fantastic. Phil on Minglewood restoring the muscle memory to get me dancin again!
Any video with good audio from the 60s and 70s is gold. Dead were still rusty from the layoff, but there were interesting song choices and some moments of intensity, rising out of the general sense of torpor, that bode well for legendary '77.
I was 18 and lived in the area and there were too many great concerts in the NY area in those days. We all got to see a lot more than most on earth, but it was truly endless. Roosevelt Stadium was near collapsing from a long life. I did get to see Emerson, Lake and Palmer there in 1973. I am so happy to be able to find these gems on RUclips. Thanks for uploading and thankfully the IP police leave it alone.

thank you thank you thank you..this is a national treasure..great quality considering the age of the footage..brilliant work on the audio ,,again thank you..
Tremendous version of Sugaree, one of the Dead’s saddest songs. Because what could be sadder than saying, ‘One kind thing I’ll ask of you, please forget you knew my name, please forget you knew me’?? With that great loping bass figure in the line at 15:30 about ‘if that jubilee don’t come, maybe I’ll meet you on the run’. Roosevelt stadium, 1976: worth any money!
Dead songs, Hunter/Garcia tunes especially, always find a perfect way of balancing sadness and happiness/hope. Songs like sugaree , wharf rat , Dew all have very heavy and sad melodies and lyrics yet they are played with such soul that I'm filled with hope and love instead of dread . Somehow hunter and Garcia could take you through the entire spectrum of emotions and encapsulate all of existence is such a pure and natural way . Also I must mention sugaree is technically a JGB song. Both do a wonderful job with it
Great sound quality. Thank you. I saw them at the Beacon, NYC 6 weeks before; Roosevelt Stadium, New Brunswick, NJ was an old minor league baseball stadium. That was nice they played Scarlet Begonias after some guy asked for it 1:24:29.
that was ME asking....I've done it at every show since I 1st heard it live. Once I stood in front of Phil (Coney Island) asking over & over again when he announced "Hey, we're gonna play it for you next, OK?"

The mix of rock n country n mountain is so unique. I picture a couple outlaws just outside of town singing songs and telling stories around a campfire.
Love how they switch from crowd to board when the show gets going.. and back and forth couple times.. shows how sick the tape section wuz💀💀💀💀💀
Thank you for your efforts in creating a complete experiece of this show.
Ohh man...the sweetest smoothest silky Sugaree, just like I want to remember Jeer Bear!
I was there, though I couldn't recite the set list to you. :) Added a few cracks in the walls of Roosevelt Stadium that night. Oh Yeah!
Althea wasn't in the repertoire until the Brent era in 1979.

🤓 no 'touch of grey' , then .
@@howardnj1 I was there as well!!! An incredible show, even if went off 48 hours later than scheduled!!! Phil came out and played three notes, and the Heavens opened up!!!
That Row Jimmy was so fun! Love watching Jerry play the slide leads.
One of my first tapes, back in mid-80s. Love the weird mix, with Phil so far forward. Great to see it now, after all these years! Thanks!
What a great mix! Jerry’s guitar and voice cuts through perfectly.
OMG I was there!! I didn't think there was any video of it!!! COOL 👍
Thanks for your time putting this together, I’ve had a audio of this show.
As of right now I’m going to engulf myself In this
My first Dead Show, love you to the moon and back🎸🎵🎶🎵🎶☮💜
Thanks for sharing!! Nice job. I missed some of this show, bc I was talking my buddy off the ledge, as the acid we bought did not seem to agree with him. lol Great memories!!
Yikes. This is why I don't try to argue with acid lol
Took my driving road test in the lot !! There was some legendary performances in that building!!!!
I was at this show also. I loved the Roosevelt Stadium shows. Saw them with The Band there a few years earlier where they played to the wee hours of the morning. Thanks so much for doing this!
I was lucky enough to see The Band/Dead at Roosevelt. I'd love to go back in time and be there again. Half of these dudes are dead!
was it 76? rain out? i was at 74 that was rained out so there is some confusion
@@tomdemeo2708This show with the monkey was def in 76.
Dang, man. you got see The Band? I know jealousy is not cool and all that, but I'm feeling a wee bit green right about now. 😆
Thanks Sam, I just watched the whole thing and it was absolutely amazing. ISOLATION DON'T FEEL SO BAD.
You are truly blessed. And, I am GRATEFUL. HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY AND LIFE PEEEAAACCCEEEE!!!!!!
Fck the isolation and government control.. we NEED FREEDOM DAMMIT
Thank you for posting! I was there also, still pissin' & moaning because of the previous rain-delays because Scher waited until the last second to announce. To this day the Chimp gives me nitemares.

K.C. !! ☀️ (band)
Incidentally , as I remember , that particular show was originally scheduled for July 2nd. , just two days before the bicentennial (and the actual day that the Declaration of Independence was intended to be signed . . but due to logistics of all the signers not being able to be present , which required Thomas Jefferson to draft another copy with the new correct date of July 4th) but was canceled due to a stabbing that occurred in the parking lot after a Yes concert .
Other concerts that were upcoming were not canceled , including a KISS concert .
(go figure) . So , the Dead concert was pre-empted without a 'rain date' . It was not certain that it would be rescheduled for several weeks . So that is where the real discrepancy was .
So , the pressure or requirement placed upon Jefferson and his outstanding penmanship with quill and ink to produce upon parchment the document that we know today also had a bit of trouble with that date of July 2nd. .

Absolutely incredible 👏 Jerry gets everyone firing 🔥 on all cylinders a hole bunch of times! Thanks so much for posting this!
Donna sounds great! Thanks so much for sharing Sam. My first show was '89 in Atlanta when I was 20 so to get to see the boys, and the lady, in action like this during an era I missed (and my favorite era at that) is always special. Really nice work brother (~);}
Awesome thank you, I was at this concert, an EMS worker at the first aid area, born jersey city, lots of good concerts at Roosevelt Stadium
Indescribably delicious. For some reason, all the shows at Roosevelt Stadium were epic. Thank you for putting this together.
Thank you also awesome show, my first was philly 1980 , opened with acoustic
Set , I was hooked , 50 to 60 shows as the years went by,,,
Still going to dead and co shows ,, although I hate the price tag , John does a great job and with Odell , hope to catch a show this summer with the vacccine on the
Way, cheers , keep rockin!
I had Dead &Co tax last summer and Covid can elled that. I was really excited about that show!
Wish I could take you back to 1970 and my first shows. back then we didn't lock our cars up and you couldn't buy a high...it was given away free.
When Jer first steps up to the mic to sing, this black and white video starts to color up just a little bit...
This is incredible! Thank you so much for taking the time.
This !s just amazing! !! Thank you ♡
My favorite dead show ever ! Thanks
Thought was the Roosevelt 74 show , this one ain’t no joke either
we dig it very much. Thanx for the work you put into this. Greetings from Vienna
nice to have some visuals to go along with the music. Thanks.
I was 20 at this show...beautiful memories of a good time, had by all.
Remember it well!Great show as always.
and to think -- betwen the time you posted this and now, we foudn a completely different video souce to add into the mix :)
We did? Please let me know where to find it.
I love Jerry Garcia so damn much. What a wonderful person, and amazing musician.
When I think of Jerry Garcia this version is who I'm conjuring. Thanks Jer
Thanks for uploading and thankfully the IP police leave it alone.
it was nearly collapsing surprised it still stood after this show haha glad we shared the show together "strangers as one"
That first chord that Jerry strums sounds like they’re going to start with Eyes. I love how loose this band is. The Good Ole GD
Wow! what you did to try to make it " just exactly perfect" is true deadication... thank you!
Thank you my brother, That was a fun day. Aloha.
1st outdoor East Coast Dead show if I m not mistaken...IWT! my very 1st show haven't gotten off the bus since! Kingfish played at Schaefer music Festival NYC a few weeks earlier, check out that show (With Robbie Hoddinot et al) Both shows offer an amazing glimpse into what the Dead Family were up to in the post '75 era!! Awesome post thank you!!
SOOOOOO Beautiful, a thank you seems so inadequate for what you have given here.
I wish you, everyone here, and all your familes a beautiful day, a wonderful upcoming Thanksgiving, and a magical Christmas, and a rocking New Years!!
Love, Serenity, Divinity.. as well as.. Deific, Majestic, Transcendence to and for everyone!!

Wow you worked your butt of to do this. All very appreciative! Thanks a bunch!
Man! I just love this sh*t! Such history! Such great set lists! Such a fantastic band! Nice job matching up the audio/video!
Godchaux still on fire in 76’. Dirgelike Loser captures it all. Glad the audio keeps going. Thank you. For everything.
My first Dead show as well!! I barely remember anything about it though. :-( Thx for posting.
I can't remember much. I had fun 😪🎈
Wow thanks for posting a show from the mid 70,s . I dig the dead hear and before into the 60,s of course . I am to young to have seen them then but have many shows on cds. This is great to hear as i have been listening to phish a bit too much, need my jerry and Phil fix now for awhile

This is so great!!! Thank you for all the hard work and time you put into this Sam!
Thanks for putting this together. First show I saw was in 1978. But I've always loved these huge outdoor show recordings. And Roosevelt (e.g. 1974) is up there in the pantheon of amazing.
Roosevelt Stadium wasn't huge. It was a minor league baseball stadium, held about 25K max
@@TaperSteve The stadium was perfect. Jerry and Co. were perfect. The weed and some other things were perfect. Who could ever ask for more?

Great sound video and mix!! Well done thanks man!
This is fantastic, with a real you-are-there feel. Thank you for sharing.
I saw the Grateful only once on my birthday, I particularly liked the Standing on the moon, I took a long glance at Kerry Garcia, the concert was played shortly before he passed away, I heard about his death when I was at the Gulf of Mexico
I saw them at Roosevelt Stadium too, but I don't remember if it was 75,6 or7 my first Dead Show, went with a bunch of friends from Hyde Park,NY. Ahhhh to be 18 again🎸🎶🎵🎶🎵☠🌹❤
They're was no 75 show and 77 was the year for Ithaca. Most likely 76. 👍
Wow! Thanks soooo much for this present!
Thanks for sharing, always Grateful🎶🎶
this is awesome thank you so very much for sharing!!!! We who love it really, really love it!!
Amazing. Thank you SO MUCH for the work and sharing.....as my 3 year old says, sharing is caring! :)
Feel the love of a great band with their fans. What could be more perfect? Mr. Garcia one with his guitar. Great channel. Thanks for sharing.
thank you thank you thank you..this is a national treasure..great quality considering the age of the footage..brilliant work on the audio ,,again thank you..
🧐🤓😯 video , not footage .
Thank you for this! My second ever show coming on the heels of Colt Park 2 days earlier. Great memories.
Wow,yes colt park was another amazing event
thanks so much,,,I was 18 that summer,,what a long strange trip it's been!!
Both do a wonderful job with it
@@cosmicslopass all very true
Great sound quality. Thank you. I saw them at the Beacon, NYC 6 weeks before; Roosevelt Stadium, New Brunswick, NJ was an old minor league baseball stadium. That was nice they played Scarlet Begonias after some guy asked for it 1:24:29.
Roosevelt Stadium was Jersey City
