      Thanks for this! Can you use the crop adjustment layer in conjunction with key frames? So instead of a quick crop, could you theoretically do a digital zoom across multiple clips?

    If you've done all of this and it still doesn't show up in FC, you have to add .localized to your 'titles' folder. Worked for me :)

    After watching an old Daniel Schiffer vid this morning I thought about duplicating and renaming my normal 'adjustment layer' that I got a while ago. You clearly have magical superpowers LOL
    I often find I'm using two or three at a time so giving them appropriate names is bloody handy.

    OMG I just realized that I can use adjustment layers for transitions! Fade to color was ALWAYS causing me to lose a little media (with an error message), no matter the media length. No more! Now adding a transition won't cut off some of the video. SO GRATEFUL! 🙌👏🙏🙏🙏

      @@WillChidlow know what, seeing as you’re here and I never get direct access to any FCP ninjas, another thing that drives me up the wall is selecting two or more items in the timeline but NOT being able to drag all their edges together to make that selection shorter or longer? I’ve tried all the modifier keys etc. So - if you wanna blow apart my world again - can you multiple select then drag all the edges TOGETHER? For example I might have an image with a title and I want to make them both longer at the same time. Thanks man. 🙏🏻

    killin it bro! I'm a final cut noob!! I don't really understand LUTs. Other than that they sort of change the format from Log to rec 709... or something. Do I need to use a LUT if I already have rec 709 footage and I'm just trying to color grade?

    • @WillChidlow
      @WillChidlow  4 года назад

      Cheers dude! Simply speaking LUTS remap the pixels colours to an alternative colour space. From log to rec709 as you mention is one good example. However LUTS can also be used to produce more stylistic results even when using rec709 footage. They are of course totally optional, some editors prefer dialling in a look completely manually, I like using LUTS but without over doing it. Hope that helps

    If I use an adjustment layer inside of a compound clip, then when I go back out of the compound clip to view the main project, the compound clip is now covered in the adjustment layer default image (the mountains) and I can't see the preview of my actual video (because its under the adjustment layer). Is there any way to get rid of this? Hope this question makes sense. Thank you for the tutorial.

    Hi Will. I am very new to FCPx and editing as such. Been behind cameras for 40 years!!! How do I create a multi layered scoreboard with 10 names under each other?? For golf final scoreboard?

    • @WillChidlow
      @WillChidlow  4 года назад

      Hi Ettiene, thats not an easy question to answer in a comment. If it were me i would either design the scoreboard using something like photoshop, sketch or illustartor and then import a clear background version as PNG and animate the components in FCPX or Id have a look at premaid assets on sites such as Videohive, this will be a quicker option that will likely produce nicer results if you can find a template that is close enough to what you want to achieve. hope that helps

    Will, this is excellent, thanks! Is it also possible to create an AUDIO adjustment layer, so that master effects can be applied to a group of clips?

    • @WillChidlow
      @WillChidlow  4 года назад

      hmm audio is odd for adjustment layers, certain effects work, others don't behave as expected so unfortunately id avoid for audio

    Is there a way to lock an adjustment layer, so It cannot be accidentally changed? I've been using an adjustment layer over my entire timeline, since my rendered output file looks slightly different than the viewer in final cut. I'm not sure how, but every now and then, when I am adjusting something, it ends up adjusting this layer instead of the clip I wanted to.
