I stopped editing over a year ago and recently started again. In that time I forgot all my tricks even though I have some notes but I cannot find all the tricks. I stumbled over you but you impressed me so much I subscribed too!. Thanks for this video.

The Photoshop trick - thank you so much!! That's incredible. What I usually did is perform multiple exports (of different layers) of a PSD file and include them separately in the FCP project. That is so cumbersome in comparison to what you showed. You saved me a lot of time in the future!
EDIT: for what it's worth, just wanted to let you know that RUclips recommended your video for a few days in a row (despite me initially not clicking on it). RUclips probably agrees with the rest of us that this is a great video 🙂

I know this is a somewhat old video, but instead of using the scaling and position to zoom into something, the transition is actually a lot more smooth if you use the cropping with Shift + C and keyframing that instead.

Thanks for this video. Some great tips there, I knew a few of them but have definitely learnt a few new ones as well (and no I didn’t know about that last one).
One thing though, Tip #2 "How to Import Clip Ranges in Final Cut Pro" - this seems to only work on files like XDCAM, AVCHD and so on but it doesn’t work on MP4 clips, at least I’ve not found a way to make it work, which is annoying as I shoot a lot of my videos in MP4 for ease of use in general (easier sharing with a client, easier to view in Mac or PC without special software etc). If you or anyone else knows a way to do this with MP4s I’d love to know.

Good tips. I forgot about the option-click to remove color from the range selector. Here's something to add to your clip connection tip. If you want to move the clip connection to the very first frame of a clip, it's very difficult to try to command-option click that clip. A simple key sequence is to select the connected clip, Shift-I to go to the first frame, Command-X to cut the clip, then Option-V to paste the clip back at the location of the cursor. You now have the connection at the very first frame.

I didn't know about option-deselect mask range, the psd files which is cool, the hidden text styles, the clip skimming although I had already noticed that you can skim an audio track solo somehow, the difference between duplicate and snapshot a project (always been perplexed about this), and the option-effect mix hack which is sort of unpractical but cool to try out. Thanks!

I clicked on this video because I was bored and I figured I _might_ learn something useful while I scritched my dog. I ended up knowing about 4 of these tricks, all the rest were things that would have made my life substantially easier for years now.
Like how was I never curious enough to click on the big 'NORMAL' to find those other text styles?! It's not like it's hidden. I wish I had a time machine ,I have so many questions for my past self.
