I learnt so much and need to rewatch this tutorial numerous times - so many effects to consider or steps to incorporate, not the least the shortcut keys. Thank you ever so much and I decided to incorporate some of the recommended audio with a video that I am editing at the moment, and holy moly is that a great recommendation. A huge thanks for everything and can't wait to rewatch this, making a note of some of the shortcuts and recommendations for a future video.

    • @TheFinalCutBro

      I do use QuickTime Player! However space is less of an issue for me since I purchased a 50tb NAS. That said, the file sizes you mentioned are much larger than what I typically see. usually an hour recording on QuickTime for me is around 6-8 gb I think. Are you recording at 4K?
      I do highly recommend OBS or Ecamm Live for screen recording! OBS is free, and Ecamm Live is just more user friendly, but also a monthly subscription.
      you can record much smaller file sizes, and it generates the files as you’re recording, so crashing isn’t an issue.

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  Год назад

      Final Cut Pro does a really good job of mixing frame rates with no issue! It adds extra frames (not interpolated, just duplicates of the same frames) and it works great with the 60p timeline.
      I also think another factor is just the exact shot I am filming. I think if my video had a lot more motion to it, you would likely notice it looking jittery, but the shot is locked off, and while I do move around a bit, it's relatively minimal.

    Fantastic! You seem like you could be one to nerd out on a midi controller and fcp? I have done is have a small midi controller next to my keyboard with a ton of buttons programmed with Keyboard Maestro. This lets me push 1 button as a shortcut to multiple mouse clicks, typing, and keyboard shortcuts. For example, I have a button each dedicated to bringing up the video, audio, and colour panes. A button to bring up the compressor window and then move it to a better spot. Other buttons to retime, 2x, 4x, and 8x. And my favourite, a button that is programmed to change the audio from stereo to mono dialogue 1 and another to mono dialogue 2 (I record with a rode video mic ntc that records the 2nd track 20db less than the main track). I have never found a keyboard shortcut for this and was doing these steps in every video.
    These all save me moving the mouse all over the place when no keyboard shortcuts exist, or from the finger gymnastics.
    You could potentially hit a button that creates your new library, lets you type in the name, then selects the clips and synchronises them, as an example. And have other buttons that go straight to the effects that you use a lot, saving you having to search and find them manually.
    Anyhow, cheers! And hello from Melbourne, Australia (and well done for 30k+ subs!!)

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  Год назад +1

      Not a noob question at all!
      Most of the time, for a lot of NLE’s yes there are major issues with everything falling out of sync. But I have personally found FCP does a ridiculously good job of not having those issues. I’m sure there are likely some ways to cause issues, but I personally haven’t found any.

    • @TechWandererYT
      @TechWandererYT Год назад +1

      I recently asked myself the exact same question, and basically RUclips wants MP4 files instead of the MOV files Final Cut Pro creates by default. Supposedly, that's what is recommended anyway, you get the best quality (without using compressor) if you use these settings:
      Format: Computer
      Video Codec: H.264 Better Quality
      Resolution: Whatever your timeline is
      This creates an MP4 file instead of the normal MOV file, which RUclips prefers.

    • @TheFinalCutBro

      I export for computer devices at “better quality”. it processes super fast on RUclips and has a nice small file size!

    • @IainAnderson
      @IainAnderson Год назад

      @@TechWandererYT Computer is a good choice as it has the highest data rate (of Computer, Web Hosting and Apple Devices) but RUclips doesn't care much about the container you use to upload. You can give it MOV, MP4, or something less common. MP4 is actually based on MOV; it's the codec inside the container that really counts.

  • @dankelly
    @dankelly Год назад +1

    So... I missed how working with two different frame rates works. Does it change one to the other on import, or do you pick one on export?
    Either way, which one did you pick for this project, which is exactly like my projects (screen recording plus talking head)?
    Or, do you import at 60 and output to something else?

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  Год назад +2

      So Final Cut is really good at mixing frame rates. It adds additional frames to my 24p video so it works on a 60p timeline no problem. I always export at 60p for RUclips so that the playback can be as smooth as possible when showing my screen, but the 24p looks just fine as well! I should probably make a more in-depth video on how FCP deals with variable frame rates, as you actually have some additional options (not that I use them) when it comes to working with different rates in the video inspector at the very bottom.
