In Greece everything is in last minute buahahahahah… so glad to be on this video Serge and a public what’s up to all the Final Cut Pro buddies :) stay creative everyone happy summer!
Off the back of Matthew’s tip, I use an MX Master 3 mouse and set up the main gesture button to be “blade all”, then the two physical macro buttons to “trim start” and “trim end”. I can whip through a first pass of an edit unbelievably fast with this
These are supremely helpful tips! Will definitely clean up my timelines and speed up my workflow significantly, especially with Steve’s positioning and Matt’s audio trimming tutorials. Thanks so much to everyone for sharing these.
Just chiming in on Rafs great tip: You can also use shift-backspace do delete too gap clip, if you only have a regular keyboard like me, without a dedicated ‘delete’ key.
Elaborating on Matthew's tip, I have my keyboard shortcut for "trim to playhead" set to S on the keyboard. I do *a lot* of A roll editing for clients and this single press saves me so much time. Obviously option + bracket is fast compared to blading twice and deleting. But when you're editing 40 minutes of footage (for example), that is hundreds of key presses saved. I'm actually surprised so many people still use the default key binds, they're not optimised for particular workflows.
awesome video -great content and i learned a lot while getting introduced to other YT FCP tutorial providers- I'm just learning and this video has broadened my scope of focus and developing skill sets thnx so much
Loved it so much. Another great tip that saved me so much time while editing interviews was using in and out points and just hitting delete on sections of the a roll on the timeline that I didn't need.
Wow ... I was not expecting that. I'd love to see the email you sent out inviting everyone to contribute - did you have dirt on everyone? Just kidding - really great video.
When I use smart conform in FCP it does not adjust the videos. It says it can not use smart conform on cropped videos. When I un-crop my original videos and try again, it still doesn't work. It keeps the old video aspect ratio and places it in the centre of the new vertical frame, like a tiny box. Any advice? Thanks for the video.
Great to be included in this video, Serge! Love helping other Final Cut Pro editors and content creators level up their editing with some essential tips & tricks. I even learned a new one from Dylan John with that hold frame transition trick - that was great! 🔪🥦🧲🎞
@@Serge1913 I had a feeling most of us would forget to give you some leeway on the beginning and end of our segments! I remembered to for the end but not the beginning! 😬 Oops!
🤯 holy smokes! Man you brought together a powerhouse of a group (including yourself) to share some awesome tips. All of you guys are my go to for tips and tricks. I've still got a long way to go, but you guys are a huge help. Thanks Serge for putting this video together, and everyone that participated. 🤘🏻
One more hack from a hack. (That have used CAD for 20 years and love custom keyboard shortcuts. Of you need to do a command more than twice a day, you should have shortcut for it! 😅) What makes my editing super super fast is to add custom shortcuts to blade, trim start and trim end commands. I have them in side by side on keys Q W E. W is blade and trims are on both sides. You can imagine how fast they’re to use. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Just cutting and trimming without really need to think about it or move hands at all. Cheers.
Anyone that’s ever watched any of your videos would disagree. You may not admit it, but you’re an amazing content creator and editor. Thanks for helping out with this one!
i really like Serge but suggesting that ALL these Dudes are EXPERTS is a bit of a STRETCH. ok, Vdeo editig isn't Rocket Surgery so the 10,000 Hours required to become an Expert (MalcomGladwell) is most Likely on the High Side. I would try to avoid the BroteLL as its derivative-rehashed . . . I wish there were more original FCP Content out there.
It was much fun to be a part of this Serge!!! Thanks for putting this all together!!! 👍
Thanks for being a part of this Chris!
Thanks so much Serge for having all of us! This video has so many insane tips. Really wish I had this video 5 years ago 😂
