As someone who learned to edit on Premiere Pro, Vegas Pro Edius and Resolve on Windows, when I moved to the full Apple Ecosystem 3 years ago, I've been nothing but frustrated with how Final Cut works. SO frustrate din fact that I have been using Resolve only because it made sense to me. Nothing for FCP made sense and no one I had tried watching in how to use Final Cut sunk in. This is the first video that explains in layman's terms how to utilize the FCP editing Paradigm. Thank you!!!

This is by far the best explanation of the magnetic timeline I've seen. I really want to fully convert from Premiere, but I've been frustrated by trying to divist myself of my Premiere habits, which I keep stumbling over in FCP. This helps a LOT!

Hi Dylan, as many have stated here, "You're the man! Every point is so clear and easily reviewed. Do you have a video that can help me sync some audio to a non connected video clip? I would need to nudge the video only a frame or two while the audio stays locked in place.

For your music edit just near the end of this video hit T click between the two clips and drag. You don’t need to put your music in the Magnetic timeline.

i am a 18 yo from india and i want to become a freelance video editor. I want to say that your videos on FCP are what enables me to learn editing without paying hundreds of dollars (which is a lot in India) for some course. Your content is really high quality and i will also start learning motion and compressor from your videos. i have one question, what alternative would you suggest for photoshop, especially now that it has got features like generative fill. i really feel like i should just get adobe subscription and use all the new ai features cause fcp isnt bringing a lot of updates.
I use affinity photo! But it doesn’t have generative fill. If that’s a feature you need, then I think photoshop is your best bet. Fortunately, you can just get photoshop only without paying for all the other apps! If you want a premiere experience without the premiere price, I’d 100% just use Davinci resolve instead.
I use Pixelmator Pro and Canva. However, since Pixelmator lacks generative fill, I use Canva for that feature.

I accidentally started editing my video with the music on the main timeline and the whole video on the secondary.
And when the video is in the second time line the transitions behave differently. Can you elaborate on that?

I’m a Logic Pro user and can’t really understand why the video editor has to be different!!!! Why can’t I just place whatever I want on the timeline and let it stay there? If you want a transition from one clip to another, why not use “automation” as for audio in Logic?
Hey Dylan, love your channel and content. I know you a high level pro creator of plugins for FCP, all this transition and titles etc. But, i think it's like a spice in food. You need to use it carefully ... i saw trend in last videos ... too much crazy transitions, and titles. It looking cheap ... i don't know how it affecting views on your channel ... but i think your eyes are fatigue on your own content ... and you just trying to make videos as much fun as possible with all those transitions. just my opinion, but i think it's bad direction. sometimes "less- is better". hope i can deliver my message, don't be offended i really like your videos and use a lot advices from it. thank's for reading, and i'll see you in the next video :-)

The same here bro. I learned edit videos on Vegas, and I just bought a mac. Im trying to edit on Final Cut and I move, and they don't make any sense. I can't understand why the program move videos when I don't want to move all together. First line join the second line, and if you movie one video, the program move the line above together... WHYYYYYY????

Exactly what I need. Got this to work the first time but not working now. When selecting All Video Used Media nothing is showing up. Rewatched your steps several times. Have a timeline with several clips.
