It's incredibly rare that a promotional trailer for a ROM hack gives me the same vibes as a commercial from the 90s. However, _this_ promo got the nostalgic feelings a'flowin'. *This* is how you promote a ROM hack.
My only question is: are the original _Star Fox_ still in there, somewhere?
It still is! The original levels and map are still available
This trailer itself is more well-made than trailers for modern AAA games. If the hack has nearly this much effort put into it, this is already guaranteed to be *mind-blowingly-good.*
Unlike every movie/game trailer today. A piano note at the beginning, followed by booms and a rising sound.
A commercial's supposed to catch your attention. But when it plays safe, it just blends in with the others. I'm so sick of those kind.
On the other hand, this trailer feels like a 90s cheesy action figure commercial, and I love it--because it hasn't been done in a long time.

Back in the retro console days game did have some pretty good production value on their commercials.

Star Fox 2 is a terrific title and holds that Super FX Chip charm that made the original games the timeless classics we love today. Thank you so much for your hard work on these fantastic titles! And thank you to the modder for making this top-notch mod!

FWIW there are many of us frustrated - to this day - with Nintendo's short sighted decision not to release Star Fox 2 in 1995...
I wonder how excited you were in 2017 upon learning that Star Fox 2 finally saw the light of day after 21 years of being locked away?

Glad to see this programming exercise-turned passion project finally complete! It was my pleasure to break new ground on the music programming front, teach @Random my techniques (which he ran with like a champ!), and work with Plasmariel on his two contributions, some of the most musically-complex songs I've ever worked on!
(If anyone thinks this trailer is a little too boastful, the editing and voiceover styles are meant to be a direct homage to the original Star Fox trailer from 1993, no ill intentions!)
The soundtrack is one of the first things I noticed, definitely got my attention. Is there anywhere I can listen to these tracks?

The hack itself looks outstanding. The commercial-style trailer also made me smile (I grew up in the '80s and '90s, and this gives every bit of that energy). Fantastic work!

This trailer alone is truly an accomplishment, in an era of completely soulless marketing. I've rarely seen an ad for something I'm not into to begin with that convinces me I need it. This is one of those ads. Whoever put this together and casted the VA needs a raise.

This hack is so popular, it's getting a lot of new people into romhacking which is great. Though I always chuckle when you get a few people coming in with 'wtf how it this legal?' It's called fan appreciation. Unless it's sold for profit, it's completely legal and even supported by some big game developers/publishers. Its been around for many decades, and becoming more widely accepted as a valid development platform as times goes. Licensed for-profit romhacks are also a thing. *The existence of romhacking is an incredible thing for both retro gamers and developers...* best thing going on in gaming right now imo.
Well said, friend. I can say from experience that developing rom hacks is a LOT of work too -- talented rom hack/translation hack devs have all my respect. Like you said, the fact they exist is a beautiful thing. There's good reason this one is getting so much attention -- it's a prime example of that.

This looks absurdly good for the SNES/Super FX hardware, I really hope to see more mods like this in the future, maybe Stunt Race FX next time, who knows.

Stunt Race FX totally works on the SNES mini with the canoe emulator.

Yo I just played one of the routes and was blown away by it! The Star Wolf fight especially was awesome cuz not only was it 64's but also SF2's Star Wolf theme!! I love that ahhh!!! Can't wait to play more

one thing i like is the small detail to the EX logo, because if you played it you might recognize that its actually a reference to the gameboy game called X which funny enough one of the makers for that game also worked on starfox later.

well, I see the Algorythm has noticed my nostalgia trip these last few months and decided to show this madness to me. I've never actually *tried* a romhack before. I might have to read the readme on this one and figure it out.
