It’s not rubbing now but I think it will once the lift settles a little and if you hit a speedbump or pothole it will hit in my opinion. I may sound stupid but that’s just what I’m guessing based off my experience off my 5 inch lifted 2018 F-150
Yeah, usually if you're going to do any offroad, it's best to put the larger tires on before a lift so it's easier to see where you'll rub and can cut as needed. When you offroad, the suspension will compress even more than with no lift, so you'll rub even more than without any lift. Offset also has a lot to do with it. The more NEGATIVE offset, the more rubbing when close to or at full lock. Positive offset can help avoid rubbing, but you have to be careful not to hit the UCA. High caster can also help, but just a little. This is all unless you have a lift kit with travel limiters. But then people who get travel limiters aren't really into offroading. You want as much travel as possible offroad.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed just as a fair warning I have a 2016 Tacoma as well and had a 3 inch lift and 33s put on and no rubbing at first. but when they compressed the suspension at my off road shop the upper control arm will move out more and hit the tire. it may be a little different for your truck since you have different tires but I just wanted to give you guys a heads up. love the look of the truck. keep up the great work.

What offset did you go on your rims and what exact size are your Nitto's. I have some 285/70/17 coming in with a Fuel D648 with a -12 offset and I have a 3 inch lift front and back. I hope they do not rub. Why don't you like spacers?
The wheels in this video had an 18x9 +10 offset with a 33x12.5 tire. My next set was 17x9 0 offset with a 285/70/17 and didn't have any rubbing until I added the 1.25' spacer. I had the spacers on for awhile until I went up to 34's. Spacers are ok if you do it right and calculate for the offset of the wheels so it's a good setup. With the -12 you have, you may have some slight trimming to do, but it shouldn't be anything crazy. Possibly the CMC maybe, but maybe not!
I have a 2018 Tacoma with a leveling kit, 3 inch front 2 inch back with Fuel Vapors and 285/75/17s BFGs and no rubbing at all even completely locked out on a turn and looks awesome. It can be done

just want to very verify. so the rims are +10 offset. what was the stock offset. +12? also what setting did you use on the spc. u had so much room from body mount?
Yeah these wheels had a +10 offset, the stocks are around +25. My original alignment was set at the stock setting because I didn't know how to adjust them properly. But now I have them adjusted properly and you can see all those settings in this video!! I have 34's now with a 0 offset wheel and 1.25'' spacers with zero rubbing! This was so long ago I can't remember, but just generic sensors and with the programming, it took like 10 miles or something like that to sync up! I didn't have any issues with them!
NO WAY would I drive that with that tiny bit of space near the wheel. The truck looks really nice, but I'm afraid that over time something is going to happen and you're going to pop a tire and lose quite a bit overall. Putting in a spacer isn't going to kill the look, just maybe make it safer in the long run. That's only my opinion.

I could have gone slightly smaller on the tire, not as wide would have given more room obviously, but I'll be able to make these ones work! It would have been a lot more work to fit them if I had a negative offset on the wheel too, so that definitely helped.
Until I do the regear, it really hasn't made a difference, I did get the pedal commander in the meantime and it makes a good difference, but so far I don't see the need to regear.
Bros FOURR Speed - Really? Here’s the formula; desired tire size x your gear ratio divided by original tire size = gear ratio needed. Obviously you’re not really wheeling off-road. What’s your MPG? what’s your RPM range at 70 mph?
Bros FOURR Speed - pedal commander doesn’t fix the shifting issues related to the high gearing and adding big knobby tires and a lift throws the stock tune shift points out of wack.
@@DMHal01 I go offroading a good bit, and no issues. What's your experience in your tacoma? My mpg is around 18.5 and at 70mph I'm at 1700. A regear with 5.29 would put it at 2200. On the hwy when approaching any grade above 3% it used to gear hunt. The regear changed it and I don’t gearhunt anymore so I’m mostly getting my mileage by avoiding that. Did they change something on your model? You’re not running 200 extra lbs on the front end and your aerodynamics is better with the factory bumper so I can see that. No issues! This was a perfect setup with minimal rubbing! I now have 34's on the truck and since this video, did the CMC and with my adjustable upper control arms, pushed the tires .5'' forward for even more clearance!
Congratulations.. Truck looks amazing.. Let me ask you, did you have to calibrate the new wheel sensors to the computer? how did that work? Enjoy the new look.. Cheers!!
It will rub on the control arm I had one with a little more room than that and if I took a sharp corner that had a small pitch and it rubbed like crazy almost made me wreck
Oh dang lol. Yeah we were scrambling for a bit when they test fit the wheels, but it helps to test fit wheels using the lug nuts to hold them straight lol
I had the same exact issue on my Canyon. My tires we rubbing on the lift knuckle. The wheels I got were +18 offset. I opted to get the 2” bora wheel spacers. Gave me plenty of room and plenty of stance.
You will be fine going down the road and turning unless there’s a bump or off camber turn. But you can always fix that with a heat gun and work the wheel well liners up front. If you’re doing a lot of off roaming they make cab mount cut kits for the backside of the front wheel wells.
I have a few videos with this setup on the trails! ruclips.net/video/UtqegDRsizE/видео.html. It is close and there was the slightest rubbing on hard turns Offroad, but it was the largest setup I could do without trimming. I have changed my setup though and have a different offset and a little bit smaller tire, so it is possible to get a setup and not do any trimming. ruclips.net/video/ycG30le4WP0/видео.html
Your truck looks so much more aggressive. Good job! But like others have said just wait until the lift settles a bit and double check. It may not rub now but off roading will definitely push them around bit. Any off-roading shop should be able to do a Cab Mount Chop(CMC) for you if you do end up rubbing. I can’t wait to see what else you have planned!
Greg Thomas The wheels are 18x9 +10 and the tires are 33x12.5.. heres a link to the wheel vid if you haven't seen it.. ruclips.net/video/_LaU9DrOXNE/видео.html
Looks great! I put 33’s on my Taco earlier this year and had to do some very minor trimming on the back side of the wheel wells. You looked excited once the alignment was done.
Yeah I'm pumped about it! No rubbing at all for normal driving. We'll see about hardcore off road. But worst case I might have some small trimming to do, which is no big deal. My 07 Tacoma rubbed a lot at full lock on flat ground with smaller tires. 3rd gen is set up great for this.
Love man! Getting 285 70 17s on this weekend. Bilsteins in 2 weeks. What's that tailgate wrap? I want to take my stickers off my letters and do what you did!
If you start at 9:21 in this video, we just used matte black vinyl! ruclips.net/video/x3aESltVdzI/видео.html. And start around 5:04 here to see the sticker removal! You'll have fun with the Tacoma for sure!
Its one thing to test for rub on a flat garage floor. But you will still have to do some trimming to prevent rubbing on uneven ground. You can get away with however little space you have at the control arm. But do not get rid of them or alignment will be nearly impossible. You can use the camber adjustment in the control arms to make more space between the tire and the UCA at the alignment shop. If you plan to use a spacer, get hub centric spacers, also consider longer wheels studs because the Toyota has short studs and you cant achieve proper thread engagement in the lug nuts. Truck looks great though. 22x12s would have been cooler 😏
This was actually almost a perfect setup. Only aggressive off road with the wheels fully turned, it would barely hit the cab mount. But not enough to need any trimming.
Dmoore_714 Ill be making a video on that soon! Definitely a lot cheaper though! I like the pros, but if you buy one, it'd be a waste to lift it I think.
The Tacoma looks like a new truck, looks way better lifted and with bigger tires! I also prefer black wheels. I recommend getting hub centric spacers just in case. I have those on my Tacoma and they’re safe because the wheels rest on the hub of the spacers rather than the lug nut screws
If you take a tight turn at some speed. (Mountain driving) the body roll will cause the tire to snag the uca. Highly recommend a small spacer. Your set up looks exactly like my first one and I had the same problem. Overall looks great!
@@roughpatchroad Just the cmc and minor trimming, he didn't do the pinch weld or relocation. He's running 305/70/17 which is 34x12.5 or should be close.
The rub usually don’t happen on a flat level surface at stand still, it will definitely rub off road in a suspension flex, i.e. when it really matters...
This setup didn't have any rubbing offroad! Because of the positive offset, they did really good! Since these tires I have gone up to 34's and have had to do the CMC and only have minor rubbing in certain spots offroad! But it's been a great setup for this Tacoma!
+Bros FOURR Speed Again, you're either a complete moron OR purposely making these comments to make CASH 💸💸💸 from RUclips comments because you asked Burnt Taco the SAME THING on your other video...all at the expense of ruining a nice Tacoma that you purposely made Mexican'ed out. Burnt Taco while I agree that many of his mods aren’t my taste, as long as he’s happy with the mods and turnout, that’s what matters. It’s his truck, afterall.
Nice! I didn't have much rubbing at all expect for in reverse turned all the way and some spots on the dirt! I want to go a step up soon and do the cmc and some trimming now!
I don't think so, I had a 3'' lift on my 2nd gen and never had that issue, only when I went to a 6''' did I have to replace that, so I'm hoping not with this set up.
How’s the gas mileage on your Toyota Tacoma with the big new tires? I have a 2017 Toyota Tacoma want to put a lift kit 3 inches. But gas mileage is my concern, I get 20 miles to the gallon average.
Pete6 Holguin0 I averaged 17 before, and it’s still around 17. As long as your not flooring it all the time. The added rotational mass really won’t impact it.
Nice truck I like it, but i would have put the wheel spacer just for future purposes when the lift settles and it won’t hurt to put just a 10mm spacer on it
Hey how tall is your lift ? I have a 3” lift on my 2016 tacoma and i want to put 285/75/17 ‘s on my truck but im not sure if they will rub what do you think ? Will they fit without rubbing ?
I have about 4'' up front and a 3'' in rear. The tires I have now are 285/70/17 and with an offset of 0 only on a very hard turn fully cracked will it just touch. I'm not worried about it until I get a more aggressive offset on the wheels so you should be good with the right wheel.
Also you mention about offset . If i get a negative offset is it a higher chance of rubbing ? The reason because now my tires are real close to the control arm and i want a negative offset to fix that
Agustin Herrera No, I got a new set up a few months ago, so they are 32.8x11.7. The more negative the offset, the more it will be closer to the cab mount.
@bros four speed Hey buddy with that lift do you have any play in the steering wheel or it feel like stock?? And what kind of lift you use for the front?
so here is the thing, it looks really good, you might rub when you turn and there is a bump or even a little bit, it rubs in the inner side I know because I have a icon stage 4 and even is a great suspension it does rub sometimes and I have 3 in lift up front, other than that you would love the capabilities of your truck now is lifted it was about time, have fun

Nope, airing down doesn't affect that at all, the rubbing depends on the offset of the wheel and how wide the tire is.

Would a different offset rim help give more space?
Yea it would, I have since changed up the wheel/tires since this video, but this was a close as you could go and still be ok with clearance.
What size rims are those
These are 18x9 +10, I haven't had those for a while, but they were a cool setup!
What song is that @ 3:50!? 😍😍
Magical by Loving Caliber
Congratulations.. Truck looks amazing.. Let me ask you, did you have to calibrate the new wheel sensors to the computer? how did that work? Enjoy the new look.. Cheers!!
I will be doing that this weekend actually since we didn't get the tires on at the shop, so I'll show how that works.
Hey how did you get that black trim along the doors? I would like to get that done on my Tacoma as well. Thanks!
Where you guys at?
This was at Rimz One.
Stock will out perform that mall set up
It looks bad ass brother, great work!!!
Thanks!
It will rub on the control arm I had one with a little more room than that and if I took a sharp corner that had a small pitch and it rubbed like crazy almost made me wreck
Oh wow. I'll be doing some tests to find out what spots rub. But so far daily driving I've had no issues.
I literally just bought 33s and the same lift last night. I saw this thumbnail and almost died. So glad it all worked out!!!! 😅
I'll have to look into the CMC once I go off road and see if its needed, probably have to do it.
Is it too close for off road? I'd like to do this lift but I well be doing a lot of off road driving.
Different rims have different offsets, need to know all this before buying and installing a lift. Ask a lot of questions before buying.
Jesus get the same rim with a different offset
no shit. and then he said the wheel probably weighs 20 pounds. Those big ass wheels probably weigh closer to 50 pounds.... Tires probably another 50+
where’d you get that exact lift kit from and how much did you pay altogether?
I ordered it from Headstrong off road, I'll be making video soon on the cost of the whole thing so far!
What tire pressure u set?
I normally run around 34, seems to be doing fine on the road.
Great job Mike. The truck looks awesome. Well done guys :-)
Andrew K. NI Thanks!!
Yea I'm going to take it off road soon to see how it performs, I might have to take a the corner off the CMC just a bit, we'll see!
Nice! What are the specs on the wheels and tires?
Greg Thomas The wheels are 18x9 +10 and the tires are 33x12.5.. heres a link to the wheel vid if you haven't seen it.. ruclips.net/video/_LaU9DrOXNE/видео.html
Nice! What is the total height of your truck now?
Roughly 4inches. I have a comparison video coming. I gained a ton of height
Wouldn’t it rub the wheel well when the suspension is compressed?
No, there is so much room even fully compressed, and the bump stop would prevent that. Maybe a larger tire would, but no issues with the 33s.
Loveeeee the look, makes the Taco meaner with the beefy tires! I do worry though that they still may rub some with travel,I hope they don't!
Thanks, yea I love the look now! Off road rubbing could be an issue, so we'll just have to see!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Looking forward to it!!! Can't wait to see more vids!
GsxrGrl21 Thanks!
Icon upper arm with delta joints
I see popped front tires in your future, its gonna hit the UCA when you go offroad.
This setup never hit off roading. And I did a ton of adventures with it
So you installed 1.5" spacers in the front with the new tires?
My bad, didn't see you were changing the wheels to a different offset.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed thank you!
Your welcome!!
What is the size of your wheel and tire?
This setup is a 33x12.5x18.
What brand and width are those tires
They are Nitto Ridge Grapplers - 33x12.5x18.
what exhaust are you running?
It's the cat-back AFE.. ruclips.net/video/_4P-JHN5HXM/видео.html
Where did you get your blue radio bezel?
Cost difference between your build and a trd pro?
Dmoore_714 Ill be making a video on that soon! Definitely a lot cheaper though! I like the pros, but if you buy one, it'd be a waste to lift it I think.
My 2018 Tacoma shifts a lot with stock wheels and tires. How much worse is it with 33’s?
When you go with taller tires, do you need to do anything to adjust speedometer and odometer or is it not enough difference to be of any signifigance?
The Tacoma looks like a new truck, looks way better lifted and with bigger tires! I also prefer black wheels. I recommend getting hub centric spacers just in case. I have those on my Tacoma and they’re safe because the wheels rest on the hub of the spacers rather than the lug nut screws
TheFokusing Thanks I love the look! If I do end up needing spacers I’ll definitely do hub centric 👍🏼
Looks great man. Nice work
If you take a tight turn at some speed. (Mountain driving) the body roll will cause the tire to snag the uca. Highly recommend a small spacer. Your set up looks exactly like my first one and I had the same problem. Overall looks great!
Turner Suhler interesting. I’ll do some test to see if I run into that. I have almost 1/2 inch of clearance to the UCA, so I’ll see if it still clears
I'm looking at putting 35s on my Taco! Way to many supporting mods to stuff 35s
I don't think so, I have friend running 34's with just a lift and minor trimming. I'm going to be regearing soon I think, but not much more for them.
Bros FOURR Speed cab mount
relocation, pinch weld fold, fender trim.. Which 35s are you looking at?
When you cycle the suspension with the wheels turned, you'll likely rub, particularly in reverse.
surunner455 So far on flat ground it doesn’t. But I’m going to test it off road at different angles to see where it starts rubbing
Just a question how much did that all cost you..I wanted to do that to my 2006 trd sport
I'll make a video on that soon!!
what sliders do you have on there?
Victory 4X4
Looks fantastic man, can’t wait to see the difference off roading with all you’ve done
Robert Morrison Thanks! Yea I can't wait to test it out!
This whole truck is a big mistake
Y
In what way?
+Bros FOURR Speed Again, you're either a complete moron OR purposely making these comments to make CASH 💸💸💸 from RUclips comments because you asked Burnt Taco the SAME THING on your other video...all at the expense of ruining a nice Tacoma that you purposely made Mexican'ed out. You make my people sad.
Burnt Taco while I agree that many of his mods aren’t my taste, as long as he’s happy with the mods and turnout, that’s what matters. It’s his truck, afterall.
Mogwai Gizmo-Chibi You can't make money from making a comment..
I have a 4 inch lift on my Tacoma with 33s and they only rub on turns with big bumps.
Nice! I didn't have much rubbing at all expect for in reverse turned all the way and some spots on the dirt! I want to go a step up soon and do the cmc and some trimming now!
Definitely need cmc specially if you go wheeling
I'll take it off road soon to see how it performs, but a small corner of it might have to come off, we'll see.
Sweet truck Bro!
thanks!
What's the tire specs on this. That gives us an idea of what to work with.
They are 33x12.5x18.
Looks nice!!
Do you thing you’ll have needle bearing issues with this lift?
I have a 17 and never. Get 20 mpg stock unless I baby her. I'm looking at a lift and more rubber but I'm not expecting anything more than 15 mpg.
what size are the tires?
They are 33x12.5x18
Nice truck I like it, but i would have put the wheel spacer just for future purposes when the lift settles and it won’t hurt to put just a 10mm spacer on it
Great Job. The Truck looks sick...
Daniel Gonzalez Thanks!
Just bought 2019 Trd off road and put a 3 inch lift with 33s. Had to put spacers on. Because on tight turns tires will rub.
Your wheel shows 33x12.50 so does that equal 285/70/17?
Also you mention about offset . If i get a negative offset is it a higher chance of rubbing ? The reason because now my tires are real close to the control arm and i want a negative offset to fix that
Agustin Herrera No, I got a new set up a few months ago, so they are 32.8x11.7. The more negative the offset, the more it will be closer to the cab mount.
Ok thanx for the info . Nice truck by the way
What is the offset on the stock rims?
They are +25.
Are you out of the Lake Norman area?
@bros four speed Hey buddy with that lift do you have any play in the steering wheel or it feel like stock?? And what kind of lift you use for the front?
It feels like stock, and here's a link to the lift kit video so you can see everything.. ruclips.net/video/dcMd5BOT1pQ/видео.html
so here is the thing, it looks really good, you might rub when you turn and there is a bump or even a little bit, it rubs in the inner side I know because I have a icon stage 4 and even is a great suspension it does rub sometimes and I have 3 in lift up front, other than that you would love the capabilities of your truck now is lifted it was about time, have fun
dimitri vaqueros Yeh so far normal driving there’s no rubbing. We’ll do some test off road to see what will need to be done as far as trimming
