  • Finally installing the new wheels and tires on my 3rd generation Toyota Tacoma!! . Today the RTX wheels finally go on the truck! It's been sitting in the drive way for the better part of the week and today it gets to drive some! The wheels are 17x9 with a 0 offset wrapped in a 33x11.5 tire. I could have gone a little wider, but I did save some weight with these tires and still have no rubbing. I think this is a good setup for now and can't wait to see if I get some better mpg as well, not that it's important but just something else to see! Stay tuned for more projects coming!

      When I sold my previous wheels and tires, I had the truck on blocks because my wheels had not arrived yet which is why I had to borrow my dad's 4runner. I sold the stock setup along time ago!

      You don't have to regear with larger tires. It's not necessary, however, I did for the constant shifting and went with 5.29's for the 34's I'm currently running. ruclips.net/video/bd0aqwB2Nko/видео.html

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 года назад

      That should be very similar to the stock tire size so not sure why there would be rubbing, but mud flaps usually get in the way so if you are rubbing now, you'll rub more with those on!

      @BrosFOURRSpeed  2 года назад

      Those wheels had a +10 offset! So it was a 285/70/17 with the 17x9 +10! It was a good setup for a smaller tire!

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed

      Yeah! You need at least a leveling kit to clear up front. Depending on width, some trimming might be needed too! I’ve done the CMC, and a new alignment for more clearance.

      Nope! The only thing I would mention is the speedometer recalibration, but even with the 34's I'm running now, I'm off by like 4 mph, but it's not worth the $400 to me to buy that and change it. Other than that, you'll be fine with slightly larger tires!

    Help! Just got some brand new nitto ridge grapplers installed on my Tacoma yesterday. They look great, but they rub on my mudflaps pretty badly when turning in reverse or just slightly tapping the brake while turning. It’s a pretty big area they’re rubbing on. Is there a fix for this? I’d like to keep the OEM flaps because of the classic Toyota look and protection of my paint but I noticed you didn’t have yours on. Do you notice much paint chipping? Thanks so much!!!!

      I've never had any paint chips even from the 34's I'm running now! This truck never had mud flaps on it! I've put 45k miles on this truck and never experienced a paint chip from the tires! Two things you can do! First is trimming! If you can even heat up the mud flap and push the plastic away from the tire, might be able to get by with that!

    I have a 2019 4x2 TRD Pro. I have no interest in going off road but want 20 x 10 with 33" and ideally dont want an additional lift. Is it possible? thanks

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  4 года назад

      I don't think that's possible on a stock truck without trimming a lot. The pro has a bit of a lift which might help, but going 10 wide with a 33, it would have to be a skinny tire I think to fit. Are you ok with doing the cab chop mount and some trimming?

    • @jeangt9865
      @jeangt9865 4 года назад +1

      No the thing about 33" is that you would definitely have to slightly trim the back flaps on the front wheel setup especially when you are trying to make a full uturn in or out. The 33" would definitely touch the back end on the front fender's, but it's definitely fine on the rear end as in the back wheels, the fenders are pretty much spaced out well on the rear end. As long as you don't mind trimming out a bit you are definitely good to go with a 33"" setup.
      If not, once againl this is my personal choice and opinion upto a 32" setup is much better and you really can't tell the difference at a glance between the 32 and 33.
      But take it out to a tire or rim shop you check it out there and see for yourself.

    • @TheNiuhuskies09
      @TheNiuhuskies09 4 года назад

      If you're going offroad you don't want 20's with a 33. Should never go over half rim compared to tire. 33's should be a 16 inch rim at most

  • @mmunoz5875
    @mmunoz5875 5 лет назад

    Larger tires is a must in order to get an aggressive look. Btw, you're still going to get some rubbing and you will definitely need a CMC. Also, you might get some rubbing when making sharp turns on the inside frame. I had that problem and bought some 1"1/2 spiders wheel spacers. Love the tires set up!👍

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  5 лет назад

      I showed in the video that there isn't any rubbing, even at full crank which I didn't show. I won't need the cmc unless I do spacers or when I get more aggressive offset. Offroad there will be slight rubbing, but daily driving I don't have any rubbing issues.

      It's from BP fabricating! If you have a stock truck, try to stay within what the factory trie specs are, you can probably go a little taller and keep the stock width or do the opposite. Any larger both height and width is when you start to rub on stock height.
