About 15 years ago I was Dolora Zajicks cover for the Reno NV philharmonic. This gal is a soprano. Just fabulous and brings back such great memories! Thank you!
Definitely one of the best renditions of this genius finale of the piece that I have ever heard. Conducting and chorus are great, but Urmana was particularly inspired here, sounding really great and feeling every phrase to the core!
And the voice cuts like a silver sword through the orchestra and chorus. Great, great, great. Rare voice typ...most sopranos who sing this requieum today are not brave enough for the whole thing...she is and she shows it in a very powerful and emotional way:) THank you for sharing this remarkable musical moment. And of course weak and stupid audience!
Sure Urmana's voice is in high top level. Going forward, and don't think she is using any MIC, that is a device for RECORDING not enlarging the voice. Please stop with such a siliness ! aplauses at the end were not in vain !!!! Germans are not stupid and "give Peter what Peter deserves" ! Bravissimo ! JAL from Brazil
I long for someone kind enough to upload the whole performance... in HQ. I thought we never hear another great Libera Me after Monserat Caballe. That high C... nuclear
***** No matter dramatic, spinto, Donizetti, Verdi, Mozart, Bach, etc., art is art ! La Señora Caballé has been, together with Renata Tebaldi, a landmark in Classical of the past and in this century. What an absurd to make frames for art ! This ouevre is pure, essential and absolute ART ! No matter this or that, this is pure beauty and talent shown through music and the artists who played/sung it. JAL, from Brazil, South America
@Baritanist No, they don't use mics. I've been singing opera professionally for 24 years; I've never worn a body mic or known any singer that did. There are many wonderful singers that the Met doesn't hire because their voices aren't big enough to carry in the house. Please site your sources that that prove that the Met and La Scala use mics.
In the forte section around 2:30, she is the only soprano who I have heard who fully sings it over the chorus and orchestra. Because she can. The rest back off to preserve voice or just give up and let the chorus carry it. It is thrilling to hear a real and beautiful dramatic voice perform this. I do wonder though why it starts right after the exposed pianissimo high B? Maybe that didn’t go so well?! 😉
Violeta's voice really fit this piece. Just the right balance of dramatic and brilliance and strong enough high C to stand out from the blaring orchestra. I hate those that over-dramatize the recitative. Many sing this but few captures the magic. Not since Caballe
@Baritanist The mic is for recording, not amplification. Classical singers don't use mics unless they're singing outdoors, or in a HUGE auditorium. And by the way, your channel is hilarious! I'm assuming your channel is a joke. That's some deliciously bad singing!

The conducting, orchestra, chorus incredible.

TREMENDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaa
SEMPRE SEMPREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE SEMPRE URMANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Que voz tem a V.Urmana ! Belissima !
The bearded gentleman's expression at the background (second from left) on 5:40 to 5:56 summarises the whole performance.
Aditya Setiadi
He looks dead?
Dragan Vidic I spit out my water omg 😂
lmao
IMPRESIONANTE, SENCILLAMENTE IMPRESIONANTE. CREO LA MEJOR EN REQUIEM VERDI.
FELICIDADES A VIOLETA URMANA.
Fantastica
La vi por primera vez con Abbado en la 9ª sinfonía de Beethoven, me gustó mucho. En este Requiem es aun mejor
I prefer Urmana. She does the right effort in this piece. Absolutely marvelous. The right tone. JAL
Damn, the conductor has so much energy!
FANTASTICA!!!!

Wonderful.
Потрясающе!!

You said it all she soars above it all.
Wonderful performance!
Sehr schön.....

Vielleicht ergibt es sich mal. Würde ich mir wirklich gerne anhören.

Ich habe es noch nie gesehen, darum kann ich es ohne Unvoreingenommenheit anschauen.
She is always great, I prefer her though in the mezzo part for this work.
Kassandra Dimopoulou
She is always bad because of an ugly voice
@@draganvidic2039 You are an absolute moron and know nothing about opera.

What happens at 3:48 ? It seems an edition or cut in the sound, I could not recognize... Does anybody knows ?
Yes, there is a cut in the video. Originally she sings a few more notes before the choir starts
There is also another recording of the full performance without cuts

@@yannisgauler6519 thanks for explaining.
@chatbud You mean like the climactic high C that was so
"constricted" that it rose over and dominated a huge chorus and orchestra?
Yes! I want to sing constricted just like that ! THANKS!
@gpeddino This is the voice for the Verdi Requiem, certainly not mine (except in the chorus).
I prefer Urmana more when she was a mezzo. Her top notes here sound constricted and shrill. Is her voice still in good condition?
Desmond P T
No it’s not. Top is spread and her voice is damaged by singing as a soprano which she’s not.
@felipemassote kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Tá ÓTEMO!
Hooray for valve trombones!

Kathleen Battle...tiny voice. She had to amplified. Most mikes you see are for recording.

Are u kidding us, right???
