I love that her singing style reflects the lyrics... while so many divas would sing a requiem the same way they sing any opera work... The final is fantastic, she gives everything!
I simply can't stop listening to this!!! What an amazing performance, you can feel the chills at minute 12. It feels like Marina herself is asking for her own salvation. Amazing!!
I’m not surprised-I’m shocked; her voice in Faust was so light, almost like a soubrette! This is great singing. It is not an aria, and she sings it as if it is a dramatic prayer-poem. Sing this to God and see what happens. Tears will flow.
The face expression of Marina Poplavskaya in the ending, when the people round of applause, shows the deep impression and concentration in her heart. I had never seen anything like it. Others usually immediately crack a smile of exaltation.
Ich vermisse Marina Poplavskaya sehr. Sie gehört zu meinen liebsten Sängerinnen. (DVDs: Otello, Faust, Simon Boccanegra, Don Giovanni). 🌹❤️🎶💕🌷
I've just finished watching an excellent 2016 performance of Verdi's Requiem on the BBC Proms. It prompted me to come back and look at Marina Poplavskaya's Libera Me again as I had found it very moving when I first saw it. I think this is one of my favourite performances. Her absolute focus and commitment is spellbinding and wonderfully dramatic.
I love her dark, focused and in some ways very restrained rendition. It's not an aria and this is not an opera. Something in her performance reflects this.
I find Polavskaya and Gheorghiu about equal in their renditions, remembering that they have different voice qualities. Gheorghiu's voice has always reminded me of Callas. They are both wonderful sopranos.
Nothing about Gheorghiu reminds me of Callas. Poplavskaya, yes, because of the edge, depth, breadth, and sadness in her voice. But most of all because of the genuine intensity. AG always seems "stagey" to me, much too self-conscious.
LOL Gheorghiu performed this like 3 times in her entire career. Recordings don't count. Poplavskaya, for all of her imperfections is not a creation of the recording studio, but a flesh and blood performer with far more than the 2 or 3 roles Gheorghiu has mastered.
I didn't like her in Don Carlo, which she sang much too lyrically. This has more punctuation and an edge of desperation. Her French is very poor though, so she's still a work in progress.
So many dislikes! SHe does a really good job. Very intense and epic. Though I like Flemming's Libera most. This Marina Poplavskaya woman has a very unique look. Great hair and jaw :P
The great pause before applause is a good signe that the whole audiance was deeply toched and resting in the incredibile world of music...

Blessed Marina´s voice !
So sad Marina that’s so hard ti find you on line. Tanks.
Marina Poplavskaya has the most amazing powerful and beautiful voice and amazing interpretation .

Absolutely outstanding.

Grande, grande, Marina!

deep Performance...and very solemn and emotional at the same time...
Libera me, Domine, de morte æterna, em illa tremenda

Best version !!!
That is a gorgeous voice.
It's an utterly human, and moving rendition. Not perfect, but highly credible. I'd pay money to see her sing this way
I love her dark, focused and in some ways very restrained rendition. It's not an aria and this is not an opera. Something in her performance reflects this.
the whole concert was amazing
She is DIVINE..... with amazing hairs
Violeta Urmana is my favorite, but Marina does a great job. I love her somber performance.
Wow... 12:11..... bes slow...
C’est magnifique !!!
Tellement puissant 👍👍👍
This is the best "Libera me" ever!!!
Watch BERLINER PHILHARMONIKER's performance led by the maestro
TEODOR CURRENTZIS and then lets see if u still have the same opinion
@@PavlosLazosGR Yes. Same opinion. The intensity of Poplavskaya carries all before it.
Marina Poplavskaya best of ever
Just stunning. bravo.
Tremenda🎉
Her tone and treatment to the song are very unique and she has a very nice voice. one of the most memorable performances of Libera Me!
That sneeze at about 4:50 though. Arrrghh.
Perfect.
the best
I have to love the director's face XD
Beautiful performance.
lo mejor este regueton
Whoa !!!!😇😍
Sic transit gloria mundi..
2:23 Dies Irae (Reprise)
Rest in Peace Diana Princess of Wales

By the way, major goosebumps at 12:55.
Not perfect (some slight pitch problems), but still pretty damned good!
Is it me, or is her voice about two sizes too small for this music?
+Shahrdad It is you.
+Shahrdad Definitiv it is you...
I'd like to hear her live and decide for myself. On here, her voice sounds a bit too small.
do not worry, bitte hahaha...you are small
It is you. you are too small to hear it.
divine seconds

Chiedu Egbuniwe Although I am not here to defend Gheorghiu, a singer I don't give a fig about, Poplavskaya's career has prematurely ended.
Best is still Leontyne Price under von Karajan a long time ago. Unbelievably beautiful.
Whos here for Princess Diana

+infrantasi sorry, but this is sung in Latin and not in French...Wish I could hear your French and singing...
Close to outstanding, but still far IMO, to Angela Gheorghiu and Claudio Abaddo.
Oh my 🙈 bad singing, now technique, we hear at least 4 different voices.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
