I knew it was the battery immediately. Gel batteries have a nasty habit of failing without warning and it's happened to me. My Himalayan check engine light comes on when the battery is low and goes away on its own after I switch the engine off then back on after about thirty miles. I don't think the battery is covered under warranty because it's a consumable item.
One can have a bad battery read proper voltage, but fail when there's a load on it. Seems like all you need is to replace the defective battery and you should be good!
I had the same issue a few weeks ago. Dead battery, so I recharged the battery, but still wouldn't start so I changed the relays... started right up. Then just a few days ago battery was dead again. So, I bought a new lithium battery; going to install this weekend. Hopefully all will be good again 🤞
I have seen people reporting that the rectifier goes bad and will drain batteries all day. Might want to look into that unless your battery is super old it shouldn't die unexpectedly Keeping a battery maintainer is a good idea too.
Check to make sure it's charging. But I have also heard people say to replace all the relays too, saying the ones that they ship with are complete garbage.
Hmmm.... after seing this I might consider a spot for some remote battery terminals now that are easier to access without me needing to remove the side panels with they key. And really grounds are easy to find... might wire up a remote positive terminal though. Subbed.
@@seanv6711 That refers to the charging voltage, not battery voltage, and in this case the engine wasn't running, but it's certainly worth having the charging system checked. However, as stated in my answer, maintenance free batteries have a nasty habit of failing without warning and it's happened to me before. The last time was on my Yamaha FZ1. I replaced it with a traditional lead/acid battery and had no further problems.
All that grease in the relays is dialectical grease, it in no way helps a connection. And can in fact cause a connection issue, they shove it in their because of moisture issues they had with their relays. Get some better relays and replace them, also get some contact cleaner and clean out the grease from the pins. Double check that the battery is charging too.
The F bombs had me dieing laughing. 😅. Yes you should've never shut if off, at least not until you got to a parking lot (parts stores are good places ) or home (also... look for hills/inclines so at least you can push start it). Especially since it sounded healthy when running. I'm laughing at this video but only because it's not me and my GT650. Cheers brother. 🤜🏾🤛🏾

@@brockett My bike is always on a charger, however it’s not strictly necessary. The factory battery just isn’t the best and should have been replaced earlier.
Could you conduct an experiment for us please. I read somewhere if you have this issue in the wild and it's not the relays remove the fuse for the lights. Whoever wrote it said something about the headlight draining a fair bit of power on start up. So if it works it means you could replace your panels and just leave the seat off until it starts. They also said that once it's running replace the fuse so you've got your lights. Be interesting if you could test this and let us all know if it works.
You know I had this problem at the gas station, went to start up and leave and nothing but a click..turns out it was my own fault because the usb terminal I put on was loose, I pushed my bike four blocks home.
@@iamalexsun Also, I'm shocked that you were a solid half an hour stranded and not a single person offered you help. In my country if someone is on the side of the road and look broke down, you usually at least ask if everything is ok. Specially in the motorcycle community, we help each other here.
I have mine on a battery tender all the time and it still died. Maybe it's the quality of the OEM battery, I'm going to be replacing it with a more reliable one!
@iamalexsun welp, I had my bike for a year and a half. Bike was in storage for 3 months. I tested the oem battery. Won't hold a charge. Bought myself a lithium battery replacement. As I was researching this. Alot of our fellow INT owners replace their batteries right off the lot
Dead battery. I mean the battery is failing to retain charge. Can happen in a faulty RR unit case. Or just your battery's gone bad. Change either or both.
Sounds like your battery died. Same thing happened to mine I ended up changing out the relays for ones from hitch cocks motorcycle in the UK. I also cleaned out all the shit grease stuck in the relay and used a better and less grease. No problems since also look into moving the R/R unit location. RUclipsr James slick England has a whole thing on this.
My bike makes a whirring sound on the chain side of the bike, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s normal. If you put your left knee out a little and listen while you’re riding, does it make any sound? Almost like a buzzing or whirring or something?
This might sound dumb but is it your clutch lever? Whenever I take my hand off my left handlebar there’s a buzzing noise which I think is the clutch lever rattling around. I keep meaning to tighten it down or add a washer or something.

its your rectifier/regulator. 12v is far too low. It should be like 14.
