By the way, I have seen many parades and although the police horses look good, nothing beats these Army horses for condition and presentation, it's almost as if their coats have been shined with shoe polish, they are always absolutely immaculate. Of course the Blues and Royals (along with the Lifeguards) are a modern cavalry regiment. When they are not on ceremonial duty, they are the one's that operate the Tanks and other armoured vehicles etc.
@@thelmarose2782 It is a signal to the horse that the Guard is changing weight in the stirrups. The horse will reposition then. Also, sometimes it may also be an act of affection.

Yo creo que le causó gracia el sonido que hizo al principio con la boca. En el minuto 3:03 También me causó gracia y creo que el capitán también se reia de eso. I wonder what captain handsome said to the guard with the moustache to make him want to laugh so much. Also, why do some inspecting officers ( like this one) walk around the guard at the back?
walk round back is normal-for inspection, but he seems to enjoy laughter and well-liked -- he's here, too, minus a spur. Same mouth. ruclips.net/video/T1pOEQEGgpA/видео.html
pogomcl No, that’s not him. That fella is taller and has a different gait and is also a Blues and Royal (no thin black strip down the red stripe of his trousers. He has a lovely smile though.😀 The one in this video is a lifeguard. He’s seen here on the following link, in full regalia for the ‘long guard’ inspection, unfortunately, more of his back than his face. ruclips.net/video/7tHRm8GS8R0/видео.html Both are on other videos, quite a few here on RUclips with the one in your link. If you join a FB page called ‘I love the household cavalry’, you’ll see 3 other vids by Alex Schmidt with the captain from here... and they are recorded at a similar facial angle. Also, I know now, that he doesn’t always walk around the guard at the back. * Here’s the officer you linked to. Great camera work. I noticed that the second rider had a little slip on the paving as he marched off right at the end of the video -nothing dramatic thank goodness.
That can happen to anyone. It's just one thing .....I don't think they are that used to being around horses that's all they will get better :) i can't really say how i know this how inexperienced they are with horses i mean .....but i do.
Why on Earth do they have to hit the horse hard on the neck before dismounting, and again a hard, to me unnecessary hard slab to horses opp side as he dismounts. What earthly point does that serve an anxious animal, already well aware of the closeness and figiting of the people standing in my opinion far to close. I was thinking “ if your unlucky enough to yet a horse rearing and bucking he could do some very serious damage to the faces limbs and bodied of the children and adults crowding in.this must be stopped. Railings taken quite a bit further back. I’m sorry, but I just see horrible accidents waiting to happen in this confined space.
You must be short of something to worry/moan about.Perhaps the crowd could be issued with helmets and protective wear in case a horse goes mad and attacks them and tries to eat a poor disabled child,it could happen.
Horses are big animals with fur, an open palm slap wearing gloves isn't going to hurt them lol. Sure a slap like that across the face would be noteworthy, but this is more like a slap on the back wearing a decent coat.

I have watched a number of inspections. These officers are so good looking. It’s amazing! You can see females in audience looking intently.
