Finally, LG V20 Root is possible!!!
In this video, I will be walking you step by step on how to root your LG V20 ATT (H910).

Extra steps for Sprint Users:
Once you've reached 10:21 after your phone rebooted from typing "adb reboot recovery" you may encounter constant phone crashes but that's ok because you'll still have adb access.
If for some reason you don't have adb access no more, please remove the battery and re-input the battery with your hand holding the vol down button while your phone is still connected to the PC.Then from the PC in the command line type:
fastboot erase system
fastboot reboot
This will reboot your phone to an LG screen then wait like 2 mins then type "adb reboot recovery"
That's it for sprint users for now, there's an additional step in part 2 of the video for Sprint users.

This is fixed on AT&T phones and does not work. I have the money to replace the phones, but it did brick both I used. Do not use on AT&T.

Update Edit: Okay guys I've figured it out. If you are in android 8 or higher even android 7 with the latest update. IT WILL NOT WORK!
Use lgup and rollback to the first android 7 kdz patch. After that you will be able to finish first step! Happy Rooting!

For the ATT variant of the LG V20 why are you flashing the us996 twrp? Don't we need the H910 version? Or does it not matter?

of all the phones I have owned this. one was the biggest pain to get a Rom and root on... the easiest being my gs3 in which it was 1 click. the second most painless was my motto x pure. even my note 3 was easier

Yes it is. Once tjeres a certoficatw it a file that cant be verified it always do that.

Kratos 380 I d recommend installing the weta Rom since youre on Verizon and make sure you download forcedoze from the play store for more battery and before proceeding with installing any Rom, please do a back up bro.

Hey man i just installed the weta rom with the werewolf kernel and (fast charging) doesnt seem to appear on the screen does that mean its not fast charging or it is but its not showing the notification anymore? also after getting the werewolf kernel i got a notification that a 13A system update is available is it safe to update to it or no (verizon lgv20) and i already subbed. thanks again for the help
Yeah unfortunately thats the only draw back with the werewolf
I'll recommend using konverged because in all honesty you will get much better battery with konverged but the only drawback being the static screen when rebooting
No problem and also should i system update my device to 13A that it recommends or would that ruin the root ?
Id say not to....Havent got that update yet....id recommend just disable it in settings or you can disable it with titanium backup

The device WAS on Sep 1st, and then it updated automatically to Dec 1st and i still get the same message.

This root method will no longer work.
An android security update has patched a portion of the code making the "run-as con" command in step1 fail. Unless DirtySanta or one of the other XDA Devs patch the root method, we're done for.

You just have to flash an earlier kdz for when the security patch was not implemented.

lol it's eay just flashing a V20 13b-12b firmware through LGUP factory resetting, and restarteing these steps from the beginning
Do you have any links or info on how to do that? I want to get this phone, but only if I can root it. I'm used to Samsung, and I know they have implemented measures to prevent firmware downgrades over the past few years... hoping LG didn't do the same.

Just sign up on XDA, and ask them they'll likely guide you through it, it's been awhile I remember using LG Up, and Flashing a Official VS995-12b KDZ Firm through it, but I would just ask them as they'll make sure to explain it better then myself, so you don't accidently do something wrong without knowing... Make sure to give them your full Software Version ID ex VS99511A (which is mine after I flashed a custom Rom through TWRP), that way they'll know if you can even do this, I think if it ends in a (15A/15B) that's the latest Firm that supports a downgrade to the less secure security updates, but ask them to be sure

after the first time inputting "adb reboot recovery" and waiting for my V20 (Sprint variant) to boot back up, I always get greeted with the "Your device is corrupt" message then it proceeds to work normally after. Any advice?
yeah that's regular; thats how it is when it's rooted
ok cool, just wanted to make sure I didn't screw anything up. Also, I noticed that after I followed your extra steps for Sprint in the second video by flashing the LS997 file then flashing the SuperSU file immediately after and then rebooting the system, my device was rooted at that point and I tested it with a T-Mobile sim card. So basically, at the 3:35 mark on your second video, my device was rooted. Is it ok if I stop at that point, because the time saved will sure help as I root 150 more of these through the weekend :(

I've been trying to reboot my phone but its always stuck at step three. I need help I've been trying to reboot it for 3 hours now. I already tried to take out the battery and putting it back in but it does the exact same thing.

Anairda Banuelos if you can't get to fastboot from your phone do it this way:
Remove your battery while holding vol down then reinput your battery while still holding vol down then plug USB in pc and phone while still holding vol down. You should now be in fast boot. Then form there run step 3 once more

Help Please!!! I have a Verizon LG v20 I got to step 3 , it rebooted and its stuck on verizon screen. I have pulled the battery multiple times I have waited 5mins. Also when I try other tricks listed in the comments I cant execute the command prompt options because it says device not recognized. Please Help.

After u finish installing it reboot your pc then on your phone remove the battery with you hand holding volume down then re input the battery with your hand still holding the volume down then plug USB in phone and pc then you should be in fastboot. Then from here run back step 3

I was following Max Lee's instructions and that was the last step. I couldnt do yours because I have no clue where to find the abd and fastboot file after I found it. I did his version twice word for word and both times my screen ended up nothing but static but still working just cant see anything.

Pj O ok of you have the static just put your hand over the front sensor to get rid of it; look at my static video. It's something that comes with the root. I'll put up a video later on how to get rid of the static screen once and for all

Ive Tried the button combo Volume Down + Power Button and adb reboot bootloader and using recovery mode and selecting reboot to bootloader all of them dont work

Isnt it ls996? You're sure it's zv6 because that's strange unless you ported a different model over to sprint

sir help me please. after i finished step 3, my phone rebooted and now its stuck om the att logo and wont do anything else. what can i do?
so i was able to fix my phone but instead of deleting my message, i decided to write what i did to fix it. (remeber that screen wouldnt do anything)
1)remove battery.
2)reinsert battery and hold volume down
3)on your pc, double click step 3 again
4)your phone won't start but recovery was installed.
5)start the phone and let it get to the att logo, at this point check if phone is connected by writing the command "adb devices (optional)" and then abd reboot recovery.
6)devices will flicker and act crazy but trust me eventually will go to TWRP mode
7) install superuser, wipe cache and data (do not delete system)
8) it won't work just yet, you need to write the command "adb reboot fastboot" and flash 'img2'
9)start it and wait, it will work.
Remove battery and put it back in...let me know if that works

Usually works by the 3rd try but if it doesn't, I will need to know where exactly you got stock at so I know which part of he installation you're having issues at and I also need to know which version of the v20 you're using bro
