Yamaha spends millions and millions on the exhaust. My man ruins it with 10k. THEY CANT MAKE IT BETTER. No matter how confident they are. The LFA is an outlier. Edit: I know you are going back to stock. But sooooo many people/shops are going to tell you that they can make it better. No they can’t!
im one of the few people that like it definitely. it sounds more gutteral and raw, like a beast was let loose. but the tone of the stock exhaust cant be beat. if they company can throw a big resonator to take away the rasp itd be perfecy

Loud exhaust drowns out the induction noise and you’re right about it sounding less like an F1 car. Toyota and Yamaha spent so much time perfecting the exhaust note that it’s best to go stock with these beauties

Its not his faul 99.6% of the time , if your strait pipe a car , you’ll get better sound, crackles and a pinch more responsive …. But the lfa (apparently) against all odds… sounds better STOCK
That red tied with that beautiful sounding V10 is just heaven in earth 🤤🤤 but definitely little on the raspy side, some resonators will definitely help
I appreciate the distinction that louder is not better. Louder can be better or it can be worse. Today, while I sat at a light, a guy in an older Mazda 3 drove past making the loudest pops and growls. I thought it was ironic how little horsepower/bite his car had while making this awful noise. It did not sound good and ultimately made it a little ridiculous. That said, you've got to experiment and have fun right?
Toyota lost money on this car as you said but a lot of us are glad they made it It’s because of this car we have the LC500 which, unlike the LFA, is a bargain for a lot of similar tech and styling and a great sound too even if it’s not all time great V10 status

Need titanium equal length pipes to the exact size of the exhaust runners so if each is one inch then do all into a 5 inch collector straight out the back

The thing that’s great about the LFA is it’s off the shelf Toyota, you can go to auto zone and get the oil and change it in your drive way not like the exotics you HAVE to take in for service
The LFA came out during a time where i could barely afford the payments of the LFA if I had put 30% down payment with low interest. Fast forward 15 years later I could now afford one at the $350k price point but do not want to pay over a million dollars for one. I wish I had just bite the bullet and bought it years ago!
Get the new Nissan Z and tastefully mod it, stock exhaust is weak af so there is plenty of room for improvement. Everyone compares it to the Supra but it didn't take 2 companies to develop so I give props to Nissan big time. Would love to see a single turbo build on the new Z, don't think its been done before. Keep up the great content, love how honest you and the guys are about the mods you've done to your cars.
The early days of the DCT.... if you want to make that thing sound close to alright, find a way to get those shifts to snap. That rpm drop is killing it.

Hard to beat the perfection of that Yamaha Exhaust. Toyota/Lexus build those sleepers. Overtime people find them later and find out how amazing Toyota engineers were. The Toyota Crown, Cressida is a sleeper, Toyota Starlet, Toyota 2000GT which is hard to find but really well built. Toyota AE86, MR2, Toyota Celica GT-Four, Toyota Hilux. Toyota Century had a V12 with a Gintani exhaust it would sound badass. So many hidden gems Toyota has left for the world to discover.
To me, it sounds like a high-revving. V12 that is lacking power. And I'm happy to say. I have yet to hear A V10 that did not sound Beautiful regardless of the country.

What about..... The standard OEM exhaust, but without the cats (x pipe replacement), but keeping all the mufflers/resonators as they are. So a little louder but still the same sound as OEM.
Does Japan have anything else..? The NSX man.. That's like the benchmark JDM car! New Type S is cool but the OG ones from the 90s are so so good to drive.
Its like a 350z trumpet on the low end but then the high end is actually not too bad its lfa but louder. Overall id say stock is better but maybe somehow it can be improved🤷🏻♂️
Does it sound better stock, yes. It still sounds great though, i think its just too loud and drowns out the intake noises, but props for doing it, somebodys gotta.
BBS LM probably one of the few wheels that fit on absolutely everything , also the only car to compete with the LFA with sound is the BMW E60 M5 lets be real here the Carrera GT is outrageously and heavily overhyped and it actually needs an exhaust to sound good whereas a stock LFA , E60 M5 and first gen 5.0 Gallardo are the greatest sounding stock V10 cars point blank also if we talking about beauty , comfort , price point , cheaper to maintain , just a car that ticks absolutely every single box the BMW E60 M5 wins because it is gorgeous it has a luxurious interior with just enough tech , if a supercar owner owns one it's cheaper than all his cars to maintain has the most space the most seats and it's an absurdly gorgeous car and it makes 500+ Naturally aspirated V10 power with an exhaust intake and plenum it can make like 550 plus horsepower with a gpower stage 3 twin supercharger system you can beat every single supercar from the dawn of supercars up untill probably today and it'll still be cheaper and more prettier and spacious than most of them

This experiment has been done before, people haven’t done research though. Bond shop Urawa did this in Japan years ago. And they nailed it.

It's not even a DCT, it's an automated manual single clutch gearbox (like the early SMG's). And agreed, not snappy enough.

✅Positive - it’s loud that’s what the LFA needs to be loud and obnoxious with that sweet symphony.
❌Negative - that aftermarket exhaust system is just way to raspy it ruins that sweet symphony it once had
What about..... The standard OEM exhaust, but without the cats (x pipe replacement), but keeping all the mufflers/resonators as they are. So a little louder but still the same sound as OEM.
It still sounds good. I just don't know if it's better than stock. The wheels are awesome, though. I have always liked BBS.

Does Japan have anything else..? The NSX man.. That's like the benchmark JDM car! New Type S is cool but the OG ones from the 90s are so so good to drive.
Its like a 350z trumpet on the low end but then the high end is actually not too bad its lfa but louder. Overall id say stock is better but maybe somehow it can be improved🤷🏻♂️
Does it sound better stock, yes. It still sounds great though, i think its just too loud and drowns out the intake noises, but props for doing it, somebodys gotta.

BBS LM probably one of the few wheels that fit on absolutely everything , also the only car to compete with the LFA with sound is the BMW E60 M5 lets be real here the Carrera GT is outrageously and heavily overhyped and it actually needs an exhaust to sound good whereas a stock LFA , E60 M5 and first gen 5.0 Gallardo are the greatest sounding stock V10 cars point blank also if we talking about beauty , comfort , price point , cheaper to maintain , just a car that ticks absolutely every single box the BMW E60 M5 wins because it is gorgeous it has a luxurious interior with just enough tech , if a supercar owner owns one it's cheaper than all his cars to maintain has the most space the most seats and it's an absurdly gorgeous car and it makes 500+ Naturally aspirated V10 power with an exhaust intake and plenum it can make like 550 plus horsepower with a gpower stage 3 twin supercharger system you can beat every single supercar from the dawn of supercars up untill probably today and it'll still be cheaper and more prettier and spacious than most of them
