CLR in Stainless Steel Dishwasher

- I run a half cup of CLR in my GE stainless steel dishwasher, and show the effects of what it does. Essentially it requires a little bit of elbow grease to clean up the leftover residue. In my case most of it was soap scum or excessive use of dishwasher detergent.

Try leaving the CLR or vinegar in a cup upright as pouring it in the bottom is likely to result in it being drained away as soon as you start the dishwasher. Many, if not most, dishwashers do a drain cycle first, then they start the wash cycle you selected.
You need to put the CLR in a cup on the top rack and run a cycle. Do not pour it in the bottom. Dishwashers have a draining system that starts every time at the beginning. You should use vinegar instead.
I appreciate your video. I do see your heating element is covered in the white chalky -yucky - stuff, too. Our dishwasher is awful... I poured way more CLR in mine.. ( 😕 ). Around the spray arms etc. I wish I took a before video.. hoping to get this handled. I tried the vinegar and scrubber.. good Lord what a slow process. So I rapidly moved on to CLR. It's almost finished. Thank you, again!
So for us the white chalky stuff was we were using too much detergent or not a good detergent.
I've heard to put the vinegar or clr in an upright cup so it doesn't get lost when the dishwasher starts with a drain or rinse cycle put slowly dilutes in as the dishwasher runs and fills the cup with water
I'm actually in the process of descaling my dishwasher at the moment. And was searching for videos and came across yours. Without any back history and just cruising through the comments I will recommend using either a gel or the pod detergents. I've always used rinse aid and I think that helps a lot with as well.
Additionally, if you put the clr or vinegar in a small cup in the dishwasher it will overflow gradually during the washcycle and slowly release the cleaner. If you just pour the cleaner in at the start of the cycle it will most likely be flushed out. Not sure about yours but mine runs the drain pump first then fills with water at the start of the cycle...
Hope this helps. Got a phone call half way through typing this...
Oh and not sponsored by anyone (wish i was) but I've had great luck with cascade platinum and complete gel and pods. For rinse aid cascade or finish jetdry have worked well 👍
Clr suds in a dishwasher. Use vinegar or a dedicated dishwasher cleaner/deodorizer. You run the risk of burning up your pump using clr because of the suds.
Spray the CLR via a dollar store spray bottle. Let it stand for 15 minutes and then run a light cycle.
How useful are those tiny drawers to the left of the dishwasher?
Lol, they're pretty useless, but my kids enjoy playing with them
The reason why it doesn’t work because when you put the clr in at the start of the program it does a rinse first. Open the door 20 minutes in then put it in.
Good thought!
Yep, your dishwasher drained it immediately, put it in the dispenser/bowl
What about cleaning the filter, pull it out.
I did clean it, and it was gunked up with soap. We were using way to much detergent.
Just use cascade platinum
It doesn't work!
Yes, I found I need to scrub with a tooth brush
One year seem like you never cleaned that fucking thing.
The bloke is mumbling/whispering. SPEAK UP,DON'T MUMBLE.
Lol, I think you had your volume turned down.
@@UnconventionalThinker If only that were so. Watched another dishwasher episode (how to load) this time a woman. Clear as a bell.
Well thanks for the feedback. I did recently purchase a microphone and have since incorporated into some of my recent videos. Cheers.
Well, I’m not sure what that rant was all about. I hear the audio perfectly clear and plenty loud. And I run pro RUclips channels for a living. Video is just fine.
