Travis Fimmell, the actor that portrayed Ragnar is a phenomenal actor. He's actually been in a few movies since his time on vikings ended. My opinion, a very underrated actor.

To put a finer point on it, if you want to be treated with the same respect as other people, then you have to be treated like the individual you are. Anyone wanting to work with you presumably would not sabotage your process together. That’s why we have hearing aids, so people with hearing impairments can hear other people. That’s why we have wheelchairs. That way people with mobility issues can get them selves around without having to depend on other people, which is the definition of “independent living.” If you have a sight impaired person, same concept, they get the assistance they need, in the ways that they would need it, in order to get the information that the rest of us would get through our eyes. The formula I used to assess nearly every situation is: Method + Means = Outcome. The outcome should always be the same in the sense that we *all get to move on with our lives without having to die for the privilege. Since each of us starts from different places as individuals, each of us is going to take a different path to get through the door, for example. You need what you need in order to get there, I’ll need what I need in order to end up getting through the door. Those may be very different things, yet, they get each of us through the same door in our particular ways. That’s the whole concept of diverse unity. We can apply that same formula to race issues, country affiliations, cultural differences, religious practices, whatever.

My brother is disabled and runs his own business. He didn't get that far by focusing on what he couldn't do, but what he had to work with. Dragging his feet along like a Daemon crawling from the depths of hell with a determination on his face unrivalled by any of his sons. He knew at this moment that when Ivar has a goal, nothing can stop him from achieving it and so he knew that this was the only son that needed to be in that boat for his last plan to work.
The only thing Ivar over his brother was narcissism and lack of integrity. Easier to achieve goals when you don't give a fuck about anyone but yourself.

Growing up with Cerebral Palsy, I hadn't ever seen positive/ determined depictions of disability until Ivar the Boneless in Vikings. Ivar is proof that determination and ambition can exist in anyone. He also proves that underestimating the disabled is dangerous. I'm new to the show and have been catching up with the help of Hulu; I'm not ashamed to say that my own self-image has improved because of Ivar the Boneless. For the first time in nearly 30 years, I believe in myself. Amazing show! 💛

My heart was broken when Ragnar died. It took part of me even though he left a legacy behind with his children. His loyalty to his family and will taught me a valuable lesson. ❤
It's not about inteligence, it's about how he overcome his limitations, about that force that make him keep going forward. He sees determination, remember how Ragnar wanted to leave Ivar to die in the forest, saying he would never be strong enough to survive in a hard world.

This was a powerful moment full of a lifetime of emotions and you can see he feels them ALL when he sees Ivar. Remember, Ragnar was going to abandon him as a newborn for the wolves to eat, and Aslaug saved Ivar. later she took him to stay with Floki, Ragnors mad dog genius best friend, so i think Ragnar sees the best of everyone he loves in this moment through Ivar. He also saw how strong and tenacious Ivar was and he is proud, and i think also in awe and yet feels sad for what he did to him growing up.
Ivar was a bit smarter when it comes to taktics on the battlefield. But Ragnar high battle Intelligence and taktikel intelligence made him overall smarter then Ivar.
Don‘t forget on the beginning as Ragnar took Athelstan as a “slave“, while others were thinking why would you take some Cristian slave over so much treasure that they had… he was 10 steps in front of everyone else for choosing Aethelstan who could teach him about his enemy and make his raids so much easier and having advantage… thats IQ!!!

This is why Ivar was so dangerous, his adversaries greatly underestimated him because of his disability. Really one of the best characters of this show.
What a scene. It's Like Ragnar's stressing/worrying about whats ahead and to see Ivar prepared and ready to go changes his mindset completely. The will to carry on and not be broken by it all makes you one badass for sure.
Ragnar's first plan was to raid one last time. His best legacy was his son's, but his return showed him that he lost the power of a leader to his son's. So his second plan was to lure his son's to raid with him but they were all bitter and blamed him, the one that didn't blame him (Bjorn) was already too big a legend to even consider changing his plans( raiding the meditation) for Ragnar. But upon seeing himself in Bjorn he changed his entire plan. He realized he is to die in the hands of the Englishmen for his plan to work, so he came to his third plan how to die in a way that his sons would avenge him. He turned to Lagather to both hope to accompany him and bid farewell, after knowing Lagather would not follow he then saw his last hope in Ivar. He knew very well how impulsive Ivar was and he knew how easy Ivar could die if the enemy was seriously into killing him. But he also knew that the Englishmen will look down on a cripple, cause what can a cripple do. But that cripple was as to rangers plan, to set as a witness and messenger to his son's that he paid for his crimes against his people with his life, and a form of apology to all his son's for failing them. If Ragner loved his son's he loved them all equally. Only that Bjorn is a son he personally cultivated, Bjorn too came from a farmer's life like him, Bjorn fought alongside him in all his glorious expeditions and all his failures, that's why to all Ragners son's he is a Legend but to Bjorn he is a man. That's also the reason Ragner once told Bjorn what he sees when he sees katekat... And along that conversation he told him one day it will all be his. Same is true that he knew Bjorn will outshine him.
i think ragnar truly instilled all the confidence ivar needed to become who he was by the end of the series. when he told him to make everyone fear the name ivar the boneless before going off to his death was chilling, and from then on ivar did just that

This was my favorite show ever. My girl and I always made our best to be home together the nights it aired to watch together. I even took a cpl vacation days to be able to be home and chill and watch it with her. Miss those days

My heart was broken when Ragnar died. It took part of me even though he left a legacy behind with his children. His loyalty to his family and will taught me a valuable lesson. ❤
It's not about inteligence, it's about how he overcome his limitations, about that force that make him keep going forward. He sees determination, remember how Ragnar wanted to leave Ivar to die in the forest, saying he would never be strong enough to survive in a hard world.
This was not a moment of ragnar realizing his son was intelligent, and he literally did mean hurry up. When their ship sank, ragnar threw ivars braces into the sea and told him to crawl.

@@lukebukem4777 no he threw them cause ivar was taking a long long time to keep up. His legs were actually slowing him down so ragnar threw them and told him to just crawl.
Yeah I think Ragnar is just sad to see his crippled son at this moment how the hell this uploader came to conclusion that Ragnar realized intellegience or something is bizzare and dumb
This was a powerful moment full of a lifetime of emotions and you can see he feels them ALL when he sees Ivar. Remember, Ragnar was going to abandon him as a newborn for the wolves to eat, and Aslaug saved Ivar. later she took him to stay with Floki, Ragnors mad dog genius best friend, so i think Ragnar sees the best of everyone he loves in this moment through Ivar. He also saw how strong and tenacious Ivar was and he is proud, and i think also in awe and yet feels sad for what he did to him growing up.
Ivar was a bit smarter when it comes to taktics on the battlefield. But Ragnar high battle Intelligence and taktikel intelligence made him overall smarter then Ivar.
Ragnars coffin idea was the best one in the series
Don‘t forget on the beginning as Ragnar took Athelstan as a “slave“, while others were thinking why would you take some Cristian slave over so much treasure that they had… he was 10 steps in front of everyone else for choosing Aethelstan who could teach him about his enemy and make his raids so much easier and having advantage… thats IQ!!!
The scene where they attacked people in Church and him waiting for the bell’s to ring, while others were confused and had no idea what are they waiting for…😊

This is why Ivar was so dangerous, his adversaries greatly underestimated him because of his disability. Really one of the best characters of this show.
What a scene. It's Like Ragnar's stressing/worrying about whats ahead and to see Ivar prepared and ready to go changes his mindset completely. The will to carry on and not be broken by it all makes you one badass for sure.
Need a spin off series just on Ragnar.

Ragnar's first plan was to raid one last time. His best legacy was his son's, but his return showed him that he lost the power of a leader to his son's. So his second plan was to lure his son's to raid with him but they were all bitter and blamed him, the one that didn't blame him (Bjorn) was already too big a legend to even consider changing his plans( raiding the meditation) for Ragnar. But upon seeing himself in Bjorn he changed his entire plan. He realized he is to die in the hands of the Englishmen for his plan to work, so he came to his third plan how to die in a way that his sons would avenge him. He turned to Lagather to both hope to accompany him and bid farewell, after knowing Lagather would not follow he then saw his last hope in Ivar. He knew very well how impulsive Ivar was and he knew how easy Ivar could die if the enemy was seriously into killing him. But he also knew that the Englishmen will look down on a cripple, cause what can a cripple do. But that cripple was as to rangers plan, to set as a witness and messenger to his son's that he paid for his crimes against his people with his life, and a form of apology to all his son's for failing them. If Ragner loved his son's he loved them all equally. Only that Bjorn is a son he personally cultivated, Bjorn too came from a farmer's life like him, Bjorn fought alongside him in all his glorious expeditions and all his failures, that's why to all Ragners son's he is a Legend but to Bjorn he is a man. That's also the reason Ragner once told Bjorn what he sees when he sees katekat... And along that conversation he told him one day it will all be his. Same is true that he knew Bjorn will outshine him.
Also the oracle prophesied it when Bjorn was around 12

i think ragnar truly instilled all the confidence ivar needed to become who he was by the end of the series. when he told him to make everyone fear the name ivar the boneless before going off to his death was chilling, and from then on ivar did just that

This was my favorite show ever. My girl and I always made our best to be home together the nights it aired to watch together. I even took a cpl vacation days to be able to be home and chill and watch it with her. Miss those days

Really? Isn't someone whose legs don't work a liability? Raids were brutal and needed to be swift. I mean I respect the hustle and all but battlefield conditions are chaotic, any number of things could decentralize him and expose him to a killing blow. Someone bumps into him? Shield bash? He was more of a commander and was almost always on horseback, concerns are valid and I’m 100% sure the Vikings would not of taken random disabled people with them.. however I could definitely see the leader of a battle party bringing his disabled yet tactically brilliant son with him 🤷♂️

There was an English king named ethelred 'the unready' which meant 'ill advised',, so nicknames could have different meanings in old or middle English even if they still work in modern day.
