"Weird Al" actually took a date to see this movie and didn't tell her he was in it before hand.
i dont mean to be offtopic but does someone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account??
I was dumb forgot my login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me!
@Jamie Alvaro instablaster :)
You forgot the best part. He wore the same outfit he wore in the show and didn't say anything.
@@maurtendo what a baller
Don't blame him 😂
Fun fact: those boob buildings in the opening sequence are actually the twin domes of the old San Onofre nuclear power plant. It's just north of San Diego and I believe the Marines used to call it the Dolly Parton monument.
And I think she missed the actual Goodyear joke. It wasn't about hindsight...
Ive seen them a few times, oh my
The Marines didn’t call it Dolly Parton Monument because they look like boobs. but because they only worked 9 to 5
I really should be ashamed but I’m not 🥸
OJ Simpson's first scene on the boat still is, to this day, one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Just genius.
And the pillow scene... equally genius.
yess one of the funniest movies ever made
it’s hard if you compare it with Airplane
@@John-merman Airplane is great, but some parts drag the joke on juuuust a bit too long (flashback dance scene as an example), but it's still really good. I think Naked Gun edges it out though.
@@Brickhouse917 agree, miss Leslie a lot
“And if he didnt, who did? And where the hell was I?”
Fun fact:The police squad television series was canceled because a television executive believed there were too many jokes per episode and that the average American audience would not be able to keep up with the jokes. It was too funny.
I was just about to mention the show, it took me way too long to discover it and was sad to see so little episodes. My favorite gag will still be "cigarrette?" "Yes it is"
@@themajesticotter193
My favorite is
“Who are you and how did you get in here?”
“Im a locksmith and im a locksmith”
@@themajesticotter193 "japanese garden" might be my favorite gag on that show - so simple yet so effective.
While it's nice to acknowledge Ricardo Montalban as Khan, I am surprised no mention of his "rich, Correnthian leather" car commercials or that he was Mr. Rourke on the long-running 'Fantasy Island' television show.
They’re too young for that
@@mem1701movies To not know the classics, to not appreciate "Boss, the plane! The plane!" how very sad,...or to quote Dr. Zachary Smith from 'Lost In Space' "Oh the pain,...the pain."
🙂
I always say “ Go for it Stephanie !” As a phrase of encouragement to matter what the persons name is. No one gets it , but I giggle inside
Ricardo was made famous in a show called "Fantasy Island". He made peoples fantasies come true.
Though it might be better described as he helped people get the karma they deserved... :-)
@@jamesraykenney But in a cute and interesting way. Not like certain horror film that try to "adapt" it.
-Who are you? How'd you get in here?
-I'm a locksmith. And I'm a locksmith.
This movie is based on the short-lived TV show, "Police Squad!" which only ran for 6 episodes (all hilarious). But, the network recognized its potential as a movie and so gave the go-ahead to write the script. As Leslie Nielson pointed out, the most likely reason that it failed as a TV show is because it really requires you to pay attention at all times to get all the jokes, unlike most TV shows that can be playing almost in the background and you can still follow what's going on. As a movie you will have your full attention on it so it works.
She REALLY needs to see "Forbidden Planet" from back when he was always cast as a leading man. Her mind might just get blown...
She also needs to watch an actual baseball game! lol
THE FORBIDDEN PLANET (1956) still holds up rather well considering its age.... except the 'electronic tonalitys' soundtrack. It was a big deal at the time to record electronic noise, manipulate it, then mix it together..... but now it is distracting.
@@donalddube3145 NO!!! 🙂 That soundtrack is both music and sound effects in one... It is absolutely perfect for that movie!
I am still going to upvote the comment, so that hopefully they will see the message and watch the movie!
I love this woman’s laugh she’s hilarious 😂💕🙋🏼♀️🇦🇺
This movie is one of mankind's finest achievements
Hmm, OJ Simpson, a comedic genius…this was the highlight of his career, before a slight downfall in popularity,
Yes I agree
Whatever happened to that guy?
Dunno but I still don’t get why ppl like Mike Tyson he’s a convicted rapist who also bit a mans ear off
the jokes and gags just keep going in this movie, and to me it never get old. One of my favorite comedies.
missed gag. If you look closer each newspaper has a different photo and Frank and the Queen. One has the the one we see, another has the Queen on top and a third has both Frank and the Queen face down
You guy kept most of the ledge scene! You're all right in my book! There's nothing funnier than the Assault With A Concrete Dildo!
Before Airplane, Leslie Nielsen was actually a serious actor...
He had a pretty small but sinister role in the horror anthology Creepshow.
He was in the classic scifi Forbidden Planet.
So did Peter Graves (Pilot Capt Clearance Oveur), Lloyd Bridges (Steve McCroskey - went on to do *Hot Shots* & few other spoof movies) & Robert Stack (Rex Kramer).
Too bad all four have left us. R.I.P.
Surely he wasn’t THAT serious??
@@Hornsfan64 he was semi serious, and stop calling people surely! 🤪
I've said it before, I'll say it again, Em has the best gold dang laugh ever. 😜
Weird Al makes an appearance in all 3 Naked Gun movies.
He is a god
😁
Each of the newspaper photos of Frank and the Queen are different positions 😂
This was actually a television series and aired just after Airplane. It ran for only 13 episodes, so many of the jokes of the series were included in the movie. A rare find.
Six episodes actually. They canceled it because the network thought audiences wouldn’t be able to catch every joke upon first viewing; it was one of those shows you had to pay great attention to see the more subtle jokes. It basically got canceled for being too funny (and this is why shit like Big Bang Theory is able to go on for 12 seasons).
It was based off the "Police Squad" TV show, which ran for 6 episodes. Then was canceled because people actually had to pay attention to what was going on in order in order to enjoy it according to network execs. Even TV Guide called it the stupidest reason ever for cancelling a TV show.
Not really as a lot of shows you can still follow while being on in the background. While I think the show was funny I see their point.
Only In America
@@mem1701movies The plot lines For Police Squad were pretty simple, with lots of jokes. These weren't complex shows with complex allegories that all the critics love these days. These were brilliantly simplistic joke fests. If you sat down to watch halfway through and didn't get a particular joke, you could just sit down and wait 30 seconds for the next joke.
The use of the floppy dummies this way originated from a 1970's British comedy series called "The Goodies". In that show, they'd have the dummies do stunts, then do an obvious "stop frame", and swap back the actors in the same poses.
Really glad you enjoyed it! Personally I think this is my favourite of these movies with Airplane a very close second, but fully understand your list!
Really hope you enjoy Naked Gun 2! ... "I LOVE IT"...
...
... "I LOVE IT"...
...
(anyone?)
I understood that reference.
Yall may enjoy the early pink panther series of movies with Peter Sellers. "A Shot in the Dark" is the first I believe. COMEDY GOLD. Thanks for the content!
The pink panther bloopers are funny also. The salty sea dog with the bird is too funny
"Did anyone catch the license plate of the car? Anyone get a look a the driver?"
The naked gun movies have never failed to crack me up.
6:43 - the bribe scene. One of the funniest bits due to its absurdity.
Thats my personal favorite scene of he movie
Frank Drebin is our Inspector Clouseau.
Before the comedies Leslie was a famous straight actor. That made it even funnier for those of us that have BC in our birth date.
They really need to make more movies like this. The slapstick visuals, combined with the deadpan deliveries..... I saw this movie when it came out at the theater in 1988 with my Dad when I was 11 years old and we both about died in our chairs along with every other person in that theater, and I still die every time I watch it. It's a movie you can watch a hundred times and laugh just as hard as the first time! A true classic. Leslie is a legend. It was a sad day for me when he passed - great memories of going to see this movie for the first time with my Dad!
2019; 13:26 "Good year?"
Literally everyone in 2020: 13:31 "No...the worst.."
Her laugh is so contagious.
Police squad is still as funny today as the day it aired. Shame it had such a small run.
Oh gawd, I see y'all are just gonna get all the giggles out of the way first on this movie list. And I'm totally here for it! All aboard the chuckle bucket express! XD
I never understood why they canceled Police Squad so quickly - it was the funniest show I've ever seen on TV.
Thanks for the upload - enjoyed watching. Nice to see genuine reactions !
It was " too smart" and also, you had to sit and watch it close to catch all the jokes and the Powers In Charge felt it would loose ratings because a house couldn't use it for background noise and the network wouldn't be able to sell ads
This movie cemented Leslie Nielsen’s reputation as a comedic actor.
My 1st serious girlfriend bought me the 3 DVD movie collection back in Christmas of '06. Should have married her.
is she still available?? I'm asking for me, not you :)
@@bobbychristensen8887 Nope. Her very next boyfriend was much smarter than me. Married and then knocked her up.... twice. That son of a bitch.
Is it wrong that I giggle every time I see the “nice beaver” scene?
Hot Shots and Hot Shots Part Deux must see
If you seen 'lethal weapon'. Try watching 'loaded weapon'. Also if you,ve seen the 'fugitive' try 'wrongfully accused'
Unless I'm blind I didn't see Die Hard, Die Hard 2, Home Alone, Home Alone 2, and Christmas Vacation on either list.
Tis the season...
Really enjoying your great reaction channel!
"Put 'er in, coach!"
"WITCH!"
Two kinds of people, friends.
Weird Al’s movie UHF is a must watch for you two 😂😂
you realize you now need to watch 'Repossessed'. Leslie Nielsen in a parody of The Exorcist, along with Linda Blair who was the little girl !!!
When they talk about Nordberg/OJ's wife feeling sorry for her, that's just brutally ironic. RIP Nicole Brown.
Step on it Stephanie is something we say in the car every day.
No one on police squad will rest until we find Norburg’s attacker.
Ok. Let’s grab some lunch.
I've seen this film dozens of times and I never knew the baseball player assassin was a real baseball player. But then, everything I know about baseball comes from the finale of Naked Gun.
Wow I haven't seen this in ages! I loved Leslie Neilson and needed this laugh. As always, great reaction! 😁😁
The mailman and the dog making up is hilarious 😂
I've seen this movie dozens of times and I've never realised that it was a mailman with the dog. Probably because I'm laughing so hard.
OMG she has the best laugh I love it lol
Crazy thing - he and Queen Elizabeth were the same age - he was just two months older than her. And the Queen was two months older than Marilyn Monroe.
The whole of the Naked Gun film is based on the series Police Squad, also with Leslie Nielsen.
My advice, stay away from Frank, he will hurt you and not mean to. These movies are wonderful. Strong cast. Lots of sight gags!
PERFECTION, I love everything from the dry humour through to the slapstick.
Gotta watch Spy Hard with Leslie Nielsen, also Hot shots 1 and 2
Good cheese isn't ready until it's moving under its own power.
Omg ❤❤❤❤ I love her reaction to this movie. I have tried to share this movie with other Poole in the past. Specifically partners I have had in the past. Romantically. And none of them ever got it. I really appreciate that. She enjoyed this movie so much. I hope to find someone that has that same reaction to movies like this.😊
10:00 - actress Charlotte Zucker( The directors Jerry and David Zucker's mother! ). You've seen her before as the "makeup" lady in Airplane - 1980. 😂
20:59 - THANK YOUR HUSBAND FOR KNOWING WHO REGGIE JACKSON IS!! Whew! Now I feel old. Thanks. 🤣
Great reactions from you both! You will be forgiven for the Ricardo Montalban issue, LOL! He was a very hot item back in the day as per my mother. HA! Anyways, thank you for posting! 😊
Your old?? I remember watching *Mr. October* hitting 4 home runs for the NY Bombers, managed by Billy Martin, over the Los Angeles Dodgers, managed by Tommy Lasorda.
Jeez you guys have to be the best couple on youtube.
Watching the movies with you for your first time brings a new joy to the movies. Thank you.
Now THIS is woman who knows how to appreciate comedy.
Hey! It's Enrico Palazzo!
6:43 - one of the funniest bits ever. I mean, the way he scrutinized the bill he just gave to the guy for info when it was handed back to him too! 😂
And the movie has OJ Simpsons suffering constantly - perfect!
Wrongflully accused with Leslie Nielsen is one of the best comedies ever made :)
Now for...
The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear
Naked Gun 33⅓
Hot Shots!
Hot Shots! Part Deux
Leslie Nielsen in the fugitive. Funny a hell.
Movie is wrongly accused
I enjoy Emily laugh so contagious
I think you'd enjoy 'Hot Shots!'
I always wondered where the whole “Extend your arm, extend your middle finger” joke came from. 😂
Watch Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid w/ Steve Martin!
Seeing George Kennedy with Lesley Nielson was kind of a merging of Airplane '75 and Airplane (which was one of a slew of disaster movies during the seventies)
Airport 75. Yes George Kennedy played Joe Patroni in the full saga
"Apply the brakes..." I use that quote all the time. 😄
You two are too much. "Future Emily!" I died laughing. Seriously, my ghost is committing right now. BTW, I watched all the ads to get you two full credit...and I purchased a cup phone holder...also watched a long animated advertisement for a game and got so interested that I forgot I was watching yall until the it ended...but I digress....good job!
"Family Guy did a spoof of this..."
That was actually the last time Family Guy broke me down to tears from laughing.
You guys need to watch Robin Hood Men in Tights
Oh geez! I'm so old when you said Ricardo montelbond ( spelling??) I thought fantasy island not Kahn!!
and Chrysler Cordoba ads with "rich Corinthian leather"
10:00 that's Charlotte Zucker, the director's mother. She has a cameo in every Zucker movie.
Ricardo Montebon... SMILES EVERYONE. SMILES........!!!
Welcome to Fantasy Island
Where did the ankle bracelet slip down from? This has kept me up nights for decades
Liam Neeson is gonna need to level with Leslie Nielsen's comedic chops on the upcoming NG reboot. Also Seth McFarlene's producing the reboot.
To quote Priscilla Presleyfrom 33 3/3: "Don't do it!"
I look forward to see that!
Apparently Neeson is going to portray "Frank Drebin, jr." (born at the end of 33 1/3 and mysteriously already around 70, just like his father in his movies).
Who doesn't like a stuffed beaver?
The beaver?
I saw this in the theater with my family when it was released. It's one of my favorites. His rendition of the Star Spangled Banner is beyond hilarious. ☺️
A few years later I moved to San Diego and drove past that power plant that looks like a pair of breasts. I had a fangirl moment. 😂
oh fyi, when i was born in '95, Weird Al was in town & he held me before my parents did 😆
Please elaborate!
@@Anwelei
(Leslie Nielsen & I are from the same hometown, Regina, Saskatchewan;
Leslie lived here until he was about 4 or 5,
& my auntie owns the house Leslie & his family lived in)
but, Weird Al was here in 1995 doing a concert,
& was at the hospital visiting the sick kids,
& when I was born, he held me before my parents did ☺
I really love you two 😅 So cheerful and genuine.
The bad guy with the accent was a pulp culture icon. His name is Ricardo Montalbán and he played Mr. Roarke on Fantasy Island. Super popular 80s show.
Also Kahn in Star Trek 2 😇
Don't forget about Neilsen in the classic 'Creepshow' (1982)
I am watching the reaction for the second time. I am convinced that if I am feeling down, I can come to one of your comedy reactions and it will pass.
Nice beaver!
Thanks! I just had it stuffed!
Down Periscope, Fatal Instinct, Loaded Weapon, Hot Shots
Down Periscope is one of my top 3 favorite comedies!
"the vidiot from uhf", "Blazing saddles", "Monty python and the holy grail", and of course "police academy".
If you like Leslie Nielsen, check out Mel Brooks "Dracula, Dead and Loving it". Hilarious
Speaking of Weird Al, he sang the opening number to Spy Hard. A spoof of Bond/Spy movies starring Leslie Nielson.
The Naked Gun is a classic. If rom-coms are a time for her, she should watch Isn't It Romantic from 2019.
Just as Airplane was based mostly on the movie "Zero Hour" (even repeating dialogue verbatim), Police Squad (the six episode television series that gave way to the Naked Gun movies) was based on Lee Marvin's "M Squad". In fact, the first episode of Police Squad (A Substantial Gift) heavily parodied M Squad's first episode of its second season (More Deadly). Two of the greatest treats of Police Squad was its celebrity guest stars dying within seconds in the opening credits and the money-saving faked freeze frame as the credits roll. While Frank Drebin, Al and police scientist Ted Olsen repeated their roles in the Naked Gun movies, Frank's Captain and Norberg were played by different actors (Alan North and Peter Lupus, respectively). It also starred Rex Hamilton as Abraham Lincoln firing back on whoever shot his hat off in the opening credits. It's a shame the series didn't catch on with television audiences but thank goodness for the movies. On a side note: Al, the tall detective with a quarter of banana stuck on the side of his mouth, was played by actor Tiny Ron Taylor. Tiny Ron also played the huge menacing henchman Lothar (with prosthetic makeup to look like Rondo Hatton) in Disney's excellent, The Rocketeer; Hatton acted in movies from 1927 to 1946. I would strongly suggest a viewing of The Rocketeer as well. It didn't do well at the box office but it's such a fun and well-made movie that introduces the world to a 1938 superhero. It also has an excellent cast.
Did you know AIRPLANE was written for LETTERMAN but he blew the screen test?
I didn't realize how recently you two started these reviews, so glad I found you early on and can watch the development that is to come.
Fun Fact: Police Squad the TV series always had a celebrity they would kill off in the credits and bill them as guest stars. Shorty before John Belushi's death he filmed a cameo death. on the show. When he died they left it out of the episode and supposedly burned the footage.
