I work at a small body shop in Ohio But we do around 300,000 a year never have we ever taped up a window or door handle it all gets removed whether a total respray or even just blending..Love your channel man your my favorite RUclipsr period because you do things the right way never lose that man
when your a shop and have a reputation to keep doing things right is the only way. But there has been countless times ive had a friend for family member needed me to respray or fix dents, body panels etc.) that always want that (free) discount and offer you next to nothing. In some of those cases ive had to whip things out quick and dirty (but still good) so i dont lose my ass.

This is not about who got a better deal its about 2 friends with different trades and looking out for each other making content and getting add revenue in the process .win win 🔰🔰🔰🔰🔰🔰🔰
I get it. But I still think Kyle should come with some cash or something on his end. Yeah he got content and all that but it’s still his time and his guys time that was put into this. RUclips and ad revenue are paying for him making the video, but that doesn’t mean Kyle should get a whole ass paint job that took dozens of hours to complete while he makes a much quicker roll cage that isn’t consuming so much time.
Idk. I just think fairness should always be a big part in these collaborations.
@@Olie_d94 I think Trevor knows how long body work takes. did you see his supra video that car wasn't built over night it took months . he's a very skilled professional and they agreed on something .stop underminding Kyle's worth based on labor hrs cuz guess what for all you know Kyle's work can possibly save Trevor life one day .now how much is that worth ? Milton Gimenez i will continue to disagree. I’m not doubting Trevor knows what he’s doing because he does. But more than once he admitted things kinda escalated farther than he initially prepared for. At the end of the day, regardless of ads and RUclips you should fairly compensate somebody for the work they did. Idc if the cage is safety. Time and effort gets put into things. And not properly and fairly compensating somebody for their time and work is just not right. At the end of the day it’s not a fair or even trade. I mean... who’s even covering the material cost on top of it all?
@@Olie_d94 you also for got that Trevor said it many times that Kyle didn't want a show car keep things simple .if he chose to do more it was exactly that he chose to do it .if you go to a restaurant and ask for a burger pay for a burger and they serve you lobster because they felt like it guess what I'm paying for what I asked for not what you feel like serving me .a deals a deal simple mathematics 1 + 1 = 2
One would think that in a materials cost, the cage is more expensive, labour cost, would go to the paint is all about the prep... and you can get a good result with even rattle cans if the prep is good.
Each is doing things they are good at.

There's just something so wholesome about watching a small youtuber in a small shop on his own, who puts maximum effort into their videos and all of their content, does everything 'properly' and doesn't act arrogant and stays completely humble, and then watching them blow up! The worst part is over I hate all the prep but laying the paint is fun
But prep is the most important stage.
Primer it is....it shall be lots and lots of primer.
When you say it’s hard to let things like rock chips and clear go, and that as much as Kyle didn’t expect show quality, that just tells me your passionate about your craft. It’s awesome to see, too many people just punch a time card and don’t care about their craft. Kudos, love the care you’ve taken with a car some would say isn’t worth it. It is worth it. well I bet kyle didn't expect him to do a such a detailed job on this but it doesn't look like he can help but do it right instead of half assing it
labor wise, body work is always gonna take some more time. But the expertise in building a roll cage is pretty rare and having someone that you trust with your life is probably worth some more body work.
Naw cause welding you can't mess up without it costing more money. The same with body work but you can hide it and it wouldn't affect the safety of the person life. So I think Trevor got the better deal but it scratch my back I'll scratch your kind of deal.
Trevor didn't do it for a fair trade. He did it to finally get some recognition.

It depends how you look at it.....everybody say says that Kylie got the better end of the deal but in the event of a crash (racing in the streets of Tijuana,mexico) a roll cage could be the difference between living to race another day or not living at all....the same can't be said for a pretty paint job...a pretty looking car won't save you're life you'll just look good as you die....and we all know that somebody has a lead foot...."I'm sure it'll be fine"
its not that you care to much man its that you take pride in your work im the same way when i detail cars if you look back at it and it doesn't make you smile or feel that special way inside you may as well not do it

Hey Trevor, I love how you show just how much work goes into actually preparing a car for paint. not just a slide show of "well we sanded this, then paint, then finish" it gives people a really unrealistic view of just how much time goes into getting it to look right BEFORE even throwing the first coat of primer on.

That Supra took two years but its content alone I imagine has paid off all of the paint, supplies and parts necessary to rebuild it from the ground up. That Supra was probably the craziest and yet, best investment that you’ve made for this channel.
Your passion and attention to detail makes you a better painter than most. Your earned my respect when you mentioned that, "This has turned into more of a restoration project than a refresh." I can't wait to see how it turns out. I'm sure Kyle's gonna freak out when he gets it back. You should hold off uploading the final reveal so Kyle and us can all share in the surprise. You know it's gonna good.

I have minimal experience with auto body but I feel like Kyle is getting way more out of this. This is just so impressive. I worked at a shop in high school and was always amazed at how much talent/time goes into properly bringing a car's exterior back to life. Keep up the good work!

Love how you're a perfectionist. My grandfather taught me a lot about body work growing up from quick flips that just need some Bondo and a refresh to classic cars and stripping everything down for a $4k paint job. He always said 90% of a paint job is in the prep. I just subscribed to your channel from Kyle. All his fab work looks top notch. Surely his time and skill is equal to yours so you both get something out of the trade. Keep it up brother.

You're one of the only mainstream youtubers that do most of the work yourself Trev... All you need to do is practice fabrication (aka prefect it) and you'll master all aspects of building vehicles. Well tuning too.. But meh....

I really like channels like this where they do most of the work in house. I'll gladly watch someone race their hand built hot rods no matter what speeds they run over the guy who just buy their stuff and couldn't even change their own brake pads.

Matt Hill 😂 NO, it’s actually at the point of being a $6000 paint job, a reputable body shop charges a ungodly amount per hour to do body work. I personally wouldn’t dare paint another persons car for less then $3000 and Trevor’s much better then me at body work.

@@Matty.Hill_87 1.) Paint & Materials are pretty expensive. 2.) It might only be "a few days" but at a body shop, you are paying maybe 3-5 guys to do 8+ hours work on it for at least 3 days. Put it this way: 4 guys, doing 4 days work totals to 128 hours. Even if the $6000 was entirely made up of labour costs, that's only $46 an hour. Subtract the paint, material and running costs out of that $6000 and suddenly the labour costs aren't all that high. It's pretty easy to see where the cost goes. Doing bodywork right isn't cheap.
Still cheaper than a $9,000 detail.

This reminds me of stripping my SW20 for paint. You’re right about them being so intricate.
I think I counted 80 parts, removed from the car.
That was leaving the doors and boot lid etc on until it was in the body shop, but included breaking the mirrors etc right down.
As you know yourself, if you want the job done right, it’s essential!

OG sub from the first supra vid. had an 87 turbo supra in 98. before F&F. Thanks to Trevor I ended up cleaning my whole shop and dropping a new engine in the trans am. Thanks for getting me back into what i love. Now i have tooo many projects... but it's all good!

Looks like your putting in more work than the Boosted Boi’s are. Don’t get me wrong a roll cage is no easy task but painting an entire car is way more work. We should all go comment on their channel and talk them into maybe throwing in some extra fab work to even out the deal. Maybe get Kyle to redo your turbo and waist gate dump tubes. 👍

It was just my 2 cents, I wish at 58 I had used the breather more offend when I was his age. Getting old is effected by your day 2 day.
