Meanwhile, in it's den, Absol eats ice cream and cries, "No, really. It's okay humans, you can hate me or fear me or whatever. I just want you to be safe"
Never made sense to me how people misunderstanding it's intentions somehow influences its typing. The pokemon itself is not malicious and actively tries to help others, which should make it anything but a dark type.
@@Garvant_Compound Eyes refers to the type of eyes that insects have; that's why it's exclusively given to bug types. So... Yeah, I don't think that would work, even though it would be a lot more exciting than Keen Eye.
11:57 THAT bit I think actually came from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky where a Luxray leading a pride of Luxio was able to use his eyes to pierce the darkness to see your player Pokemon character and his partner and team to tell them that hiding was pointless. Come to think of it, you would think Keen Eye would work considering Luxray's Abilities.
It's Luxray and Luxio in TIme and Darkness specifically, they changed it to Manectric/Electrike in Sky probably because Shinx was added as a starter option.
Yeah, i thought of Keen Eye the whole time. Makes even more sense in Spanish because the ability is called “Vista Lince” which literally means Lynx’s Sight.
@@Sequal1605 I was thinking of a separate ability that also takes the evasion of the opponent in consideration. *X-ray vision* Ignore foe evasion and accuracy cannot be lowered.
This series has been one of the freshest ideas I've seen in ages and you're executing it fabulously, every episode has been super interesting and entertaining. Really glad you're finding so much success, and excited to see what you continue to come up with!
@@fusionxtrasWell, now, that makes me wonder about another new electric type physical move, that would basically be Electric Flower Trick ._. Not a good idea with electric terrain and all, but I find it kinda neat. Considering thunderclap currently exist, I find it likely many more mon will learn it in newer gen
"Other big cats like ArCANINE" Sorry, couldn't help it hahaha Great video as always! and congratulations on the 10k subs! Proud to be here since the first video.
@@ZenModeYT for what it's worth, Arcanine is based off of the lion dogs from various Asian cultures, including China, Japan and Korea, which are often depicted as statues guarding religious shrines and temples. It's inspiration is actually more lion than dog.
Luxrays slow speed and bad movepool has always made me a bit sad, because it’s so cool 😭 Also jack, the 10k sub milestone is VERY much so deserved, your content is AMAZING.
Buff both wild charge and volt tackle. Now pikachu still gets to keep its fancy signature move, and the other physical attackers still get their electric STAB. That said, what about jolt jab? A copy of poison jab, but electric.
I think they should buff Wild Charge to 100 keep the recoil, and add a electric version of Slash (70 base power, high crit rate). Call it Lightning Strike, and visually it'd look like a Chidori from Naruto or something
I know it's a small change, but I think keeping battle animations on is a great call, it makes the footage a lot more dynamic and interesting! it's been a long time since I've actually played these games myself, so seeing all the moves is a nice hit of nostalgia too. keep up the good work!
Yeah I’m always reading comments to see what people want. Definitely glad to see people like them. I usually play with them off but turning them on probably makes for a more interesting video lol
I feel like Rapidash is a Pokemon that's due for a stat buff. It's got an excellent movepool at this stage, with Flare Blitz, Wild Charge, High Horsepower, Throat Chop, Megahorn, Play Rough, Poison Jab, Smart Strike, even stuff like Morning Sun and Swords Dance. Just a bit more Attack and Speed to match up against the modern day power crept insanity would do it good.
@@Celon549 yeah I don’t think there’s really a ton I could do outside of stats and probably an earlier evolution. Movepool really isn’t an issue. We’ll see. It’s not at the top of my list, but could definitely see doing it down the road
@@ZenModeYT You could give it Reckless and (High) Jump Kick, maybe. HJK is usually associated with humanoid Fighting Pokemon, but Jump Kick is also learned by Sawsbuck and Stantler in later gens.
Big Electric Lynx fan here, the idea it can see in the dark probably comes from general cat stuff, and it's classification as 'Gleam Eyes' pokemon. In additoin to it being a side effect of Luxray literally having X-Ray vision. Additional note; the Anime consistently characterized the line as being incredibly loyal, with one sacrificing itself to save a child it was close to, and the other being Clemonts, which after feeling abandoned, saw Clemont's true friendship in the end.
On False Swipe Gaming's "The Flareon Theorem", I made sure to reference your channel in the comments because your videos have been the best example of said theorem (a Pokémon's move pool can squander great stats or enhance average stats). Keep up the great work, my friend!
I want you to know that your Paras run actively got me into modding Pokemon and I really appreciate that you've been seeing success with all this, you deserve all the positives coming your way
Literally can’t even wrap my head around you only have 6 videos in 2 months cuz it feels like you’re all I’ve been watching lately! Seriously, everything has been so well put together I assumed until literally just now you had been around forever. Glad this has been such a good few months for u homie!
I am in love with these videos. I get excited every time I see them in my sub box. I love how different they are from the usual, generic "fixing Pokémon" videos and how you implement the changes into these games. It's comforting to see someone who has as much passion and love for these generally unused Pokémon as you do. I'm excited to see how you'll find ways to improve and innovate in the future!
Unfortunately, glare wouldn't work as an option. Glare's Japanese name is "snake glare" and can only be learned by snakes and a couple of reptiles. It's based on the myth that serpents (like Kaa from the jungle book) can freeze their prey with their stare.
@@dayandere2669 Druddigon might take some inspiration from a basilisk, which can turn whatever it looks at into stone. Even then, it only learns it by breeding, so it's not an innate skill it has. A loose reasoning feels fine in this case. Now, the better question is why can *Drampa* learn it by level up?
@@dayandere2669 Druddigon is also likely based on the red-headed rock agama; a lizard. The only other non-snake to learn glare is Helioptile, which is somewhat based on a basilisk, which is another lizard. Omg, your videos are so good. Like, the subjects you cover are so interesting. I don’t think I've ever seen anyone else focus solely on like, improving bad mon. And your work is so well done too, I really like how you analyze every mon, and do your best to make them usable. So, thanks for that, just know that there’s people who like your content, so keep it up.
Well dang, I feel like I did something special by just being here. My favorite evolution line (specifically Luxio) are being talked about and to have helped and been here while this channel instantly blew up was great! These videos are long, but sometimes I need long videos to just sit down and watch. Thank you immensely. Especially since this last week has been hard as heck for me.
Yeah any support helps, so thank you! Yeah some people say the vids are too long, but at the end of the day, I’m making content that I, personally, would enjoy watching, and I happen to also like long videos with a lot of thought and effort put it. The way I see it, every vid will be SOMEBODY’S favourite Pokémon, so I don’t like to leave anything out in the analysis. Anyway, thank you again for the support, and hope things get better for you!
@@ZenModeYT Oh, I like their length a lot. And despite not liking seeing Luxray as a dark type (viewing him as a more noble protector type myself, (not that noble pokemon can't be dark types) I do like seeing Pokémon as different types anyways. And limiting it to just Luxray and not the first two stages makes a lot of sense. I'm always happy to see my favorites get attention. I could also ask for a Pokémon for an upcoming video (Chingling comes to mind) but I think I'd rather just see who you pick on your own! I hope your day is good!
I came to your channel because I saw your Chikorita video when it was new, and I was extremely curious about what you would do to fix such an underserved Pokemon as Chikorita. But what I saw in that video was a genuine understanding and love for the Pokemon and what it could be, and the pokemon franchise in general, and a deep creativity and drive to improve all aspects of the pokemon from mechanics to lore. I watched that one video and I was hooked, and I've seen every video since, and plan to watch each video coming in the future. I think my favorite video was your Paras and Parasect video. Absolutely inspired choices there, both mechanics and typing-wise. And the subsequent run through with your altered Parasect as incredibly enjoyable to watch as well :) Keep up the great work, Zen Mode! And I'm glad that you're enjoying how big this channel has become! I think it can only get bigger from here!
That bit at the beginning was so heartwarming. Your content is super unique and well-produced. Im glad to see youre performing well, bc you really deserve every ounce of praise sent your way. I wish i could like this video 10 times. Luxray is my favorite pokemon and has been since i was that 10 year old who tried to use it to plow through the sinnoh region (except i was 8). Shinx was the first wild pokemon i ever caught (xd was my first game, so i dont count all of those shadow pokemon), and i inadvertently tried to solo diamond version with it bc it just got so overleveled from using it so much. Luxrays stats have always been a bummer, so im excited to see what you do with them!
Watched the first minute. Very humble my guy. You've found yourself a very unique niche in Pokémon content and it's very entertaining. I do feel bad that I can't support monetarily but I did go back and binge watch your older videos coming up to this one, hope that helps a little bit.
I have to praise the presentation of this video series. Your videos have a really clean editing/visual style that strikes the perfect balance between visually appealing and informative without feeling too cluttered. It's a quality that goes underappreciated-the best editing is invisible, after all-and I wanted to call it out because it's clear you've put a lot of effort into it. Well done! Love this series!
beginning has me in tears. im having a really difficult time right now too and ive been finding little things and reconnecting with hobbies to try and bring some happiness back. i really get how overwhelming love and support can feel when youre not expecting it. these videos have been really nice to consume for me when im having a lot of anxiety or sad feelings. pokémon has always brought me comfort and your videos breathe new life into old favorites. thank you so much and keep slaying. ♡
@@ZenModeYT Nah, he comes from the future XD Congrats, sir! A spanish youtuber recommended you, and I'm glad I clicked that Pidgey video of yours. Hope you're nice and healthy now!
Zen my dude, I swear I dont think ive ever seen such a fast burst of growth before. I think ive said this on like 4 videos in a row, but you have remixed a very old concept into a new "type" of Pokemon content. I am 100% sure that the bigger fish in the community are gonna be taking this idea for a spin soon and youve built such a strong fanbase here already, I legit think your views/subs are gonna keep jumping more and more, and I think the rides really only just begining man.
Hey, you came at a popular subject with a unique stance, and you came out of the gate making good content instead of having a good idea without the panache. This isn't a stumble into success, it's well-deserved, can't wait to see where this goes!
In regards to the video proper, I'm all about Sucker Punch using original language logic, but by that same logic Glare is "Snake Glare" and is specifically a serpentine move, hence every mon that learns it being a snake (or at least reptilian by egg move).
All the support is so so worth it, these are such unique pieces of art and I absolutely adore them all. I’m glad the support has helped you the way these videos have helped others
Zen, your series has inspired me to go back and start theorising my changes for every pokemon in the pokedex. It has been tons of fun and I wouldn't have gotten into it if it wasn't for your videos. Thank you. Keep up the good stuff!
These Pokémon rework vids are always insanely interesting to me and your vids always get me insanely hyped to check em out and see what you do to change them. Congrats Zen, Congrats.
LOVED this video, the whole idea of trying to buff pokemon in ways that make sense/feel natural is a great idea. If I could make any sort of suggestion for a future rework, I would like to see you tackle buffing the Scraggy line, specifically in gen 6, it can be found relatively early (on route 5) every since the debut of the fairy types the line has been struggling to keep up relevance, getting worse and worse as the gens go by and I hate seeing one of my favorite pokemon get done dirty like that, it's got such a unique stat spread so seeing someone giving the line a bit of love would be awesome! Keep up the great work regardless if this is seen !
Annette really playing to her FE Heroes title here - Overachiever. Her luck + the added coverage, especially Bolt Beam in the later sections really made this mon achieve.
Loving the video so far, the channel popularity is well-deserved! That said, you've referred to Arcanine as a "big cat" twice already, and if that was supposed to trigger my impotent nerd-rage, it's working! >:( Arcanine's a dog! (I think). Anyway, the video is excellent and I'm a huge fan of this homebrewing thing.
Ah, yes, Arcanine, my favorite Pokémon based off a big cat 🤣 But seriously, congrats on 10k! You’ve found a great niche and obviously have the passion and drive to make the most of it. Here’s to many more milestones to come!
@@Cr3zant Eh, there’s a bit of ambiguity-Bulbapedia’s list of possible inspirations for Arcanine tend to be a little bit more dog-leaning, I would argue-but I grant that there is some definite big cat influence. My joke was more about how he follows up “Pokémon inspired by big cats” with ArCANINE than anything else.
I was not expecting the Shinx line to be covered next, but I like it. Congrats on reaching over 10,000 subscribers! In Gen 6, these are Pokémon that would've benefited from gaining the Strong Jaw ability. From its creation to the latest games Luxray is available in, it can learn or be bred to know Thunder Fang, Bite, Crunch, Ice Fang, Fire Fang, and Psychic Fang. I believe that they benefit from a Speed increase as well as the Dark typing, like shown in some fan-made games. It was interesting to see how Luxray would play with the secondary Dark typing. I'm glad that you gave Luxray access to the elemental fang moves in this run. They really do appreciate the type coverage. While I would've made them level-up moves, I respect your decision. Glare was a clever move to give the line as well as Agility. Shadow Tag would be a fun ability for Luxray in fan games given its Dex entries. This was another fun video. I'm looking forward to the next Pokémon that you cover. Based on the clue you gave, depending on the game you're gonna play with them, these are my guesses when ruling out Pokémon that you've already covered: Beedrill, Kantonian Raticate, Arbok, Sandslash, Golbat(in games where you can't evolve it), Onix(in games where you can't evolve it), Hypno, Kantonian Farfetch'd, Dewgong(although I like it and have used it on an in-game team for either FireRed or LeafGreen), Kantonian Muk, Kantonian Electrode, Lickitung(in games where you can't evolve it), Seaking, Jynx, Flareon, or Porygon(in games where you can't evolve it).
30:09 I realized at this exact moment that the Keen Eye ability would have been perfect for the Shinx evo line. I completely forgot it existed lol but anyway, I still think all the changes are pretty great! It's pretty exciting when Annette survives at red health and oneshots the opponent I really enjoyed this video and the previous ones so I'm definitely subbing. I'm glad things are working out for you, you deserve it for all that hard work
I probably would've given Volt Tackle as a late-game level up move. My boy needs the physical electric move, and I really don't feel like Pikachu needs the exclusive move.
Yeah going back, that would be my only regret here. Pikachu has enough exclusive stuff going on like the light ball. Not sure Volt Tackle would have been THAT great anyway because of recoil, but giving the player that option is still the best choice I think.
@@ZenModeYTpersonally, i feel like volt tackle just needs to be buffed to have less recoil. Pikachu ain't the best, and this gives us an excuse to buff wild charge to 120 base power (more of a general physical electric type fix) even if it isn't in platinum. It could help some others like zebstrika.
@@imtheonewhoaskedlolShould've been from the beginning. Volt Tackle is an electric double edge, and volt tackle is volt tackle but does 1/4 recoil, like how head charge is to double edge as bouffalant's signature move. Also would help Pikachu's abysmal HP stat to take recoil.
Seeing your growth has been an inspiration! I wish you the best of luck and I'm excited to see how far you can take this. With that said, don't forget that you can experiment with other video concepts for different series. I would suggest considering this earlier on rather than later so that once you become a MASSIVE channel, the precedent is already set for you doing a wide variety of things and you won't feel as restricted to try and play the algorithm game. There's certainly a tricky balance to this, because on the other hand you certainly don't want to overwhelm yourself and get burnt out. Pace yourself, and you'll find success!
1:05 Well, that's what happens when we feel your passion for the series. Your improvements not only feel thematic but earned to each pokemon. Just like you spread the love to various pokemon we various people feel happy to express our love back to you, so please keep going 😁👍
The channel is fire buddy ngl, it's not just the video quality it's the fact every Pokemon player has thought "I wish they'd done X different so it would be decent". (Personally I think Shuckle should have had a unique wrap-like move or maybe a much better fury cutter)
PLA Pokedex entry for Shinx says how agressive this Pokemon is, and having unfair advantage (seeing through walls) is one of the key features of the Dark type
I can't believe i caught up with your videos just in time for my favorite pokemon! Making tweaks to pokemon to make them fit their design or key playstyle a bit better has always been on my mind, so i love what you're doing with your channel
Your channel is a (rare?) success of the RUclips algorithm. It recommended your Chikorita video to me when you only had 1 or 2 videos on your channel, and I happened to click. I thought the concept was weird and subjective, but you put so much thought into it (and tested it with a narrated playthrough) that I enjoyed it. Now I look forward to this series!
I've been subscribed since your chikorita video. Every single video has been amazing and the work you've put into this has been astonishing. I can't wait to see what else you do!
Ah, yes. A beloved Pokemon that is held back mainly a poor movepool and typing. It's nice to see Shinx get some sort of justice. Also, when you asked why couldn't all Pokemon learn Agility, my first thought was immediately Shuckle using Agility.
Not gonna lie I thought after a few recommendations of your videos that I might have to check it out. After watching one I was more than eager to continue hearing your voice and ideas of these various Pokemon. It even got me back into the franchise! Thank you so much for covering my favourite Pokemon Luxray, can't wait to see more!
You have none to thank except yourself. YOU made content good enough to bring all these people to your vids, to share them, subscribing, and all that comes with it. Keep up the good work, as long as you enjoy doing it ofc!
That bit with the howling Lynxes was way funnier than i was prepared for. XD Edit: My guest for the next Pokemon is either Seel, Goldeen, or Farfetch'd.
The quality of content and passion in these videos is amazing. You're the only creator I consistently comment under telling you how much I like the video. These are perfect dude.
Oh man, this video came at a hilarious timing, I’ve been playing Platinum with a luxray on my main team. I’ve always Loved its design and it was great in PLA with access to the elemental fangs, so I’ve always wished it was just a tad bit stronger in the other games, you’ve done a great job at showing that like always And re: the beginning bit of the video, I’m so happy you’ve reached 10k. I started following you with the chikorita video. This is such a unique format and the way it’s executed is excellent (if I had to name my favorite part, it has to be how much thought and effort you put into building the Pokémon’s Character as you see fit. I love how you not only think of how to make them more viable/stronger, but also think more and build onto the personalities you give them, it makes the whole video really fun and you really get to grow attached to the Responsible Pidgeot, the Caring Meganium or the Hollow Parasect. I like this aspect of your videos a lot if you can’t tell haha). These videos honestly cheer me up and I try to watch them the second they get uploaded if I’m able. This one actually came in a pretty timely manner because I was in a bad mood when it was uploaded and seeing the notification cheered me up a bit and made me look forward to watching it later, so I thank you for that! TLDR I really appreciate your videos and the work you put into them, and look forward to any future ones you may upload regarding literally any pokemon, I’m sure they’ll be a nice watch regardless of who your next pick is :) remember to take care!
You've brought back so many memories with your videos. It's so refreshing to see so much love being put into the older games again. Thanks and I look forward to your future videos!
I've only watched your Chikorita video and less then ten minutes if this one and I'm already convinced that you deserve a fucking sub. This is phenomenal content. EDIT: If you weren't focused on using Luxray as much as possible, Dark type would be much less of a hindrance. That said, when you're trying to handle every fight with it to the furthest extent possible, then yeah, adding Dark type is gonna present issues.
I discovered this channel recently, and I love the content! I’m hoping the ledyba line gets a video soon, I feel that the concept of it relying on being in groups and ledians concept of using all four arms to make up for it being naturally weak could have some potential! Edit: They actually made a Ledian video I’m so happy!
Great video. What i had in mind myself for Luxray is adaptability. His pokedex raves about its x-ray allowing it to basivally "adapt" to any situation + it's the only way to give strength to a physical electric type where spark is your best
I’d still be worse then intimidate ingame even if it can’t be much of a effective attacker. Using it solely for pivoting purposes would be stronger then adaptability stuff
1. Congrats on 10k subs, good sir! 2. I'm looking forward to see what you do with other Pokemon such as Noctowl, Flareon, & Glaceon in the future. Admitting that videos will be uploaded once a month will certainly be worth a wait due to dedication.
Dude you've inspired me to do this myself to Gen 5 because all my Millennial friends hate it because of things like the levels and early game bad Pokémon and it's letting me have so much fun and finally force myself to sit down and give hacking a shot. You're one of my favorite channels to watch now period and I drop everything just to watch your videos! Keep up the good work!
Dude, you're filling out a niche that I've been craving so much since Pokémon began (waay back when) that I once considered making a channel like this one. I'm glad you stick so much to the source material and find nuanced and balanced tweaks for playthroughs. Combined with your calmness and chill attitude, this just hits the spot. Keep it up my dude, I appreciate you, and your success proves that I'm one of many.
I'm so glad that I stumbled upon your channel, these are some of the most interesting and well-thought-out videos I've ever seen, and I can't wait to see what you do in the future.
there's a lot of pokemon youtube videos about the competitive aspect of the game, or the art of the pokemon. fixing, hating, praising, playing competitive. i have never seen someone try to improve the casual experience and trying to realize the fantasy of certain pokemon in the franchise. focusing on one pokemon line for one game is such a neat balancing idea, and im amazed in the history of video platforms you're the first to be successful at it. youre like the complete opposite of a casual elitist or competitive snob. you marry the game design of individual games to individual pokemon. its a much easier prospect than balancing 900 pokemon for a whole new game, and its made me rethink my appreciation of the series more. ive never done game design, but this feels like a designer going through the thematic elements of their game and trying to realize it through the limitiations and mechanics of the game. i aint even watch the video yet, i just want to give you your flowers man. love these videos n look forward to catching them in my subscriptions
Annette pulling in clutch and refusing to faint for so many to battles is so inspiring!! BEST GIRL ANNETTE and thanks for fixing shinx! You've made it an even more incredible pokemon. I love all your videos so far (special extra love for skitty) and I can't wait for your future glaceon / flareon vids cos I love those mons too!
I wonder if you'd ever consider thinking up fakemon, without any constraints like lore or archetypes and letting your imagination run wild. Love your thought process!
I can’t stress enough how much I love this series and how well I think you’re doing with it. I don’t think this kind of content is easy to pull off, and you’re doing it masterfully. Keep it up and more importantly keep having fun!
You're doing great work man, glad to have you in the YT community you found a niche. A lot of people made "how to fix videos' or "meta examination videos" but no one actually tests things too. On top of genuinely unique/good ideas. I still love the paras changes.
I was gonna ask about Glaceon because it's my favorite eeveelution, so it's nice to know they'll be getting a video sometime down the line. As for the worst gen 1 pokemon, I'm gonna guess Beedrill, but I'm certain it'll be a bug type because of how underpowered the type is in earlier gens.
I'm really glad that so many others appreciate your channel as much as I do. You bring original, amazing content to a community that will always want more Pokemon content, so I'm really glad your channel is getting the recognition it deserves. Everytime one of your videos pops up, I set it aside for when I have free time so I can maximize my enjoyment out of them. I love your videos and will look forward to the latest one for as long as you feel like making them.
Love your channel! You’ve got such a niche amongst the poketubers and you come up with some awesome solutions for some of my fave pokemon! Keep up the great work mate!!
Hey Jack. Should’ve commented earlier, but I absolutely love your videos. I think the Paras rework is so good! I’ve always liked Paras but to say it’s underwhelming is an understatement. The ghost angle was so good and the increased performance is just like, wow!! Anyways, keep up the good work please.
I really love that you take the time to do a full playthrough with these updated pokémon, especially since you're focusing on balancing them in the generation they are typically most prominent in or first appear in. It really gives a better picture of how they actually would play in practice, instead of analyzing them in a vaccuum. It feels more like you're simply trying to make them more fun to use with their own niche, instead of the most powerful option. This series has really inspired me to adjust my approach to conceptualizing both fakemon and creatures for my own capturing game concept. Keep up the awesome work!
13:22 Rivalry also makes sense as male lions often fight each other and kill the defeated one's cubs in order to the lionesses be impregnated and give birth only to the pride's leader's genetic material. If real animals had Pokémon typings and abilities, lions would definitely be Dark-type with Rivalry and Intimidate.
I love your videos soooo much! This is such a wonderful series to keep up with 😊 But don't burn yourself out! I cannot imagine how time-consuming a series like this is. Thank you, once again 😊
Thank you 😊 and I’ll try not to! Summer is a busy time plus the next couple vids are on Pokémon that I really want to see done right, so I’ll take my time with them for sure! Appreciate the love!
I adore your content so much! You are the ONLY person I’ve seen who gives love to these Pokémon instead of making them a better RPG party member. As long as you keep uploading, I’ll always be coming back!
Physical special split is its only true savior. Til then there's not much to give it that it doesn't have: it's already got Swords Dance, Brick Break, Sludge Bomb, Return, and Rock Tomb. 90 SpA isn't unsalvageable either.
The shinx line is one of favorite groups of Pokémon, and I always have one on my Sinnoh playthroughs. The unfortunate problem of course is the lack of good late game physical moves (similar to Flareon and other physical fire and electric types). Gamefreak really needs to add new physical electric and fire moves. Also congrats on 10k subs! I’m so happy to have stumbled across this channel. Keep up the awesome work!
I just want to point out that Absol can predict catastrophes such as earthquakes and tries to warn people, and despite being clearly not evil, is a pure-Dark type
"Every time one of those spiky white dog things shows up, I get kind of a... Dark mood. And then Dark stuff happens.
Dark type. I don't like it, no sir."
Meanwhile, in it's den, Absol eats ice cream and cries, "No, really. It's okay humans, you can hate me or fear me or whatever. I just want you to be safe"
The dex does explain that people misunderstood it as the bringer of a disaster and not a warning sign.
It is seen as the omen of disasters and thus is seen as evil.
Good Intentions but it might lead to mass hysteria/panic
Never made sense to me how people misunderstanding it's intentions somehow influences its typing. The pokemon itself is not malicious and actively tries to help others, which should make it anything but a dark type.
The accuracy drop from the Skuntank made me realize Keen Eye would be another ability that fits Luxray perfectly
Compound eyes would be cool too
@@Garvant_Compound Eyes refers to the type of eyes that insects have; that's why it's exclusively given to bug types. So... Yeah, I don't think that would work, even though it would be a lot more exciting than Keen Eye.
@@ChoiceSnarf yeah....
Yeah, I was thinking that exactly! Replacing Rivalry with Keen Eye would've been the way to go for me.
Yeah, and also the spanish translation of Keen Eye is "Vista Lince", literally "Lynx's Eyesight"
Good to get Annette up to that Authority C+ rank for Rally Speed... I mean, Agility.
Naturally gets rally attack--I mean howl too
I always name my Luxrays after Blue Lions students. it's my favourite pokemon because it reminds me so much of Dimitri :>

This series has been one of the freshest ideas I've seen in ages and you're executing it fabulously, every episode has been super interesting and entertaining. Really glad you're finding so much success, and excited to see what you continue to come up with!
This.
Hard agree! Such a great idea executed well
The x-ray vision in the dex entries always made me wonder why Luxray doesn't get No Guard, Keen Eye or Shadow Tag as a hidden ability.
Keen eye would definitely make sense.
Perhaps sniper would as well since it sees your vitals.
@@fusionxtrasLuxray bout to Wolfenstein your balls
@@fusionxtrasWell, now, that makes me wonder about another new electric type physical move, that would basically be Electric Flower Trick ._.
Not a good idea with electric terrain and all, but I find it kinda neat.

Frisk makes more sense than shadow tag imo
"Other big cats like ArCANINE"
Sorry, couldn't help it hahaha Great video as always! and congratulations on the 10k subs! Proud to be here since the first video.
Yeah a few people have pointed it out. Genuinely funny that I missed that 😂 he just LOOKS like a tiger or lion because of the mane!
@@ZenModeYT for what it's worth, Arcanine is based off of the lion dogs from various Asian cultures, including China, Japan and Korea, which are often depicted as statues guarding religious shrines and temples. It's inspiration is actually more lion than dog.

@@IanColquitt I’ve never heard anyone say that that nor have I ever seen it listed anywhere for its inspiration. Where did you get that from?
I love how the buffs you give focus on the nature of the pokemon instead of just trying to make them stronger
Luxrays slow speed and bad movepool has always made me a bit sad, because it’s so cool 😭
Also jack, the 10k sub milestone is VERY much so deserved, your content is AMAZING.
Thank you so much! 😊
Better than being meta and hated
@@notscorchingsands9718Toxapex (before gen 9) can attest to that
I hope they make it faster and change wild charge to 120 to fit like flare blitz and now wave crash
It honestly makes me sad since luxray is my favorite pokemon, he deserves so much better.
Luxray (and many other electric-types) would really benefit from an electric version of Dragon Claw (Thunder Claw)
True, but having a more broadly applicable physical electric move would be more beneficial.
Buff both wild charge and volt tackle. Now pikachu still gets to keep its fancy signature move, and the other physical attackers still get their electric STAB.
That said, what about jolt jab? A copy of poison jab, but electric.
@imtheonewhoaskedlol The best way to buff wildcharge is remove it's recoil damage, and to also increases damage to at least 90.
Or buff thunder fang and make it more learnable for other pkmns
Let's go! New Zen Mode upload!
Watching the double battle with Barry made me go "oh yeah, I forgot that Ponyta/Rapidash exist". Perfect candidate for the next video..?
True. That one might give me an excuse to play diamond and pearl instead of platinum since it’s the only fire type available besides Infernape.
@@Celon549It's incredible to me how many things learn throat chop, yet don't have hands.
You know what else Ghastly learns? The elemental punches
😂😂😂 hilarious what does he throw his face😅
Keep up the great work Zen. Your videos are helping me fall back in love with the Pokémon franchise.
You absolutely deserve the success you’re seeing. Your videos are extremely creative and unique.
That lynx howl got me fcked up😂
Unfortunately, glare wouldn't work as an option. Glare's Japanese name is "snake glare" and can only be learned by snakes and a couple of reptiles. It's based on the myth that serpents (like Kaa from the jungle book) can freeze their prey with their stare.
Druddigon can learn glare. Unless you'd want to just consider all dragons to be reptiles._.
So far, no mammal-like Pokémon can learn glare either, so I feel safe in saying that Druddigon and Helioptile are exceptions, rather than the rule.

Very much appreciate the love and support! I meant every word and happy you liked it! Much more to come in the future!

Getting blindsided by a Fire Emblem reference in a Pokemon video is always pleasant.
Ah, yes, Arcanine, my favorite Pokémon based off a big cat 🤣
But seriously, congrats on 10k! You’ve found a great niche and obviously have the passion and drive to make the most of it. Here’s to many more milestones to come!
It's literally based off of lion dogs. It's both.
I got slightly triggered from him calling my favourite pupper a big cat 😂 rest of the video I loved tho so much!
Based on the clue you gave, depending on the game you're gonna play with them, these are my guesses when ruling out Pokémon that you've already covered:
Beedrill, Kantonian Raticate, Arbok, Sandslash, Golbat(in games where you can't evolve it), Onix(in games where you can't evolve it), Hypno, Kantonian Farfetch'd, Dewgong(although I like it and have used it on an in-game team for either FireRed or LeafGreen), Kantonian Muk, Kantonian Electrode, Lickitung(in games where you can't evolve it), Seaking, Jynx, Flareon, or Porygon(in games where you can't evolve it).
30:09 I realized at this exact moment that the Keen Eye ability would have been perfect for the Shinx evo line. I completely forgot it existed lol but anyway, I still think all the changes are pretty great! It's pretty exciting when Annette survives at red health and oneshots the opponent
I really enjoyed this video and the previous ones so I'm definitely subbing. I'm glad things are working out for you, you deserve it for all that hard work
Honestly, that fits. If Keen Eye not only negated accuracy debuffs but also raised accuracy, like Compound Eyes, it'd be such a nice ability to have.
@@imtheonewhoaskedloli mean they could make it 150 bp and make a new 120 bp move...
I think they should make Volt Tackle have 150 Power and buff Wild Charge to have 120 Power. Then Game Freak can have their Pikacake and eat it too.
Love the three houses joke. Amazing channel though and you're still underrated
One of the very few channels I put notifications on because I know only banger videos are uploaded
Thank you so much for covering my favourite Pokemon Luxray, can't wait to see more!
it really is amazing how fast this channel has grown, though perhaps not surprising since you've managed to carve a pretty unique niche for yourself

Oh man, this video came at a hilarious timing, I’ve been playing Platinum with a luxray on my main team. I’ve always Loved its design and it was great in PLA with access to the elemental fangs, so I’ve always wished it was just a tad bit stronger in the other games, you’ve done a great job at showing that like always
And re: the beginning bit of the video, I’m so happy you’ve reached 10k.

Glad you're bringing some fresh stuff to the RUclips space! Keep up the work!
Echoing what everybody else has said - I love how unique this series is, and its always a joy to watch.
Dude you've inspired me to do this myself to Gen 5 because all my Millennial friends hate it because of things like the levels and early game bad Pokémon and it's letting me have so much fun and finally force myself to sit down and give hacking a shot.
I've always thought Luxray's Sp.Atk and Speed stats should be swapped to fix the speed problem, but I love how you leaned into Dark type character

You're doing great work man, glad to have you in the YT community
you found a niche. A lot of people made "how to fix videos' or "meta examination videos"

That Byron fight was something straight out of the anime!
Wish I stumbled upon you sooner. Love these videos and hope you find more success like this in the future with a healthy, long channel.
You fixed most people's favorite playthrough mons, yay
Now try and fix Crawdaunt in RSE, when he had 0 good attacking moves
