Video and sound are great. Love the presentation format. Keep it up!
Thanks!
Morning Bill, Thanks for the video, and the info, will check it out. 😎🎨🤘 greetings from zero dark thirty up here in Maine 🥶
Good morning! If you check out my review of the 270 from way back it had a lot more info and detail in it. However we are trying to keep this videos moving fast and a little fun mixed with information :) Because a video noone wants to watch isnt very imformative at all :) I see some things ill correct on the next one.. the goal is to get better and more consistent now :)
BTW. Your Studio is looking mighty good... Great job
Thanks man. I got a lot more to get done honestly. But other fish to fry for a bit. We’ve done a tremendous amount of work on the house overall. Definitely love having the studio a lot nicer however. We hang out in here all the time now. Ive got a big table in the middle which has drop down wheels I can push down and roll the table around which is handy.
Good stuff, I need another for sure! I'll check them out.
They are great airbrushes for certain!
Have my 289 today,290 on saturday, spraygunner is fast
indeed they are very quick!
another thing that I would like to know when you do this type of reviews is how expensive the tip and needle are. a long time ago like 15 years ago or so I bought a peak airbrush from bearairbrush they didn't' 'have the one I wanted but I was doing good at the time and so I just order that one to try it out, it was at about the same price range than the one I wanted, well not so much tip and needles were so expensive that I never really replace them, that peak airbrush wasn't that good so I didn't feel like replacing the tip and needle once they wore off. keep up the great videos dude sending much love from Mexico.
Great point! Obviously depends on country..
But in this case the needles are 12 and nozzles are 25.(in the us) That puts it at a slightly lower price point than the iwata eclipse. Which yeah I just ordered some iwata parts. for 3 airbrushes so.. i understand that pain.
I missed some things on this I meant to talk about. lost footage on a couple things (the growing pains of new tech) But overall I want videos to move along a bit faster. How ill balance that we shall see. I found if I make a video very long and give out too much technical stuff people tune out.. so thats a balancing act I plan on fine tuning better this year.
@@TheAIRspace fortunately I live in the border Mexici-USA, I have things deliver to a relatuve in the USA and she brings them over to mexico when she visits about every other weekend, airbrushes and parts are very pricy in Mexico so I'm lucky in that aspect.
@@Viernes13punto5 how times have changed.. i used to run over to Mexico to get stuff cheap in the early 90s :)
Great brushes the creos 😁
absolutely!
Just found your channel. I just bought the P289 and really like it. I want to keep some spare parts like seals/o-rings.....where is the best place to buy replacements ? Thanks.
for certain spraygunner.com?aff=15
is going to be the main distributor in the USA.
They are great brushes for certain.
""aff link above""
So far all seems good from your video post
ive got 4 creos airbrushes.. love every one of them. :) Thanks Kevin!
Would this be a good replacement for an Iwata HP-CH? I use tube acrylics & mix them on a palette first, so I don't know if the Creos 270 with 0.2 would be more troublesome to use like that. Thanks
I personally would pick this up OVER a ch all day long. HOWEVER. It is a longer brush than the CH. They are going to be almost imperceptibly different in atomization. And material handling. The creos has a removeable head which makes cleaning easier (to me) because instead of unscrewing the nozzle and risking damage to the threads, I simply unscrew the head and run a striping brush through the fluid tube. That's me.. some may say the oring in the body could be damaged that way i spose.. but its the same fitment as a micron and my olympos micron has survived with the same o ring going on 8 years ive had it now. Granted I don't use it daily now, but I did for a good long time. But the removeable head assembly (same as a micron) is the deciding factor to me. I have kept very few brushes the nozzle threads into the body of the brush.
The 289 and 270 are definitely top tier airbrushes. Regardless of their much lower cost. But the longer head and angled trigger valve may put some off.
@@TheAIRspace I've never used a 0.2 before so the 289 might be the better option. They're both the same price as an Eclipse where I am. I know the Eclipse is acknowledged as an all round workhorse which is nice. I also like the look of its drop-in nozzle (less chance of damaging). Cheers
@@DscruGaming the eclipse will do just a hair better at dealing with thicker paints.
The 289 is a little better at details, and of course has a mac valve. I still use the eclipse a lot.. i also use the 270 a lot as a detail brush and the 289 is not far behind it. if they are the same price.. there is no way to go wrong with either. Im a huge fan of self centering nozzles like in the eclipse. The trigger is smoother on the 289 and the eclipse is a bit firmer.. something I actually prefer. I usually run all my airbrushes to max tension on the trigger.
Tough decision if priced the same.. id have to buy both :) (obviously I did and then some )
I think there's a trigger version of this one, too.
The trigger airbrush by them is the ps290, an excellent brush as well. But the design is significantly different than the 270 and 289.
They also have a set of airbrushes with screw in nozzles that are good as well. that have no mac valve and the cost is not much different. However they do have that one in a .5 although I use an eclipse with a .5 and a badger omni for larger spray needs.
Have the ps-289 its really my go to brush. Nerver have problems with it, have broked some nozzles. But that will be the same with Any other brand, as long as get to much power🤣
Its a great brush. I have used the 270 a lot!
Hi Bill I really enjoy your videos. Have you thought about using Harder and steenbeck evolution. I like using it. But I wonder what you would think of it in comparison to your arsenal of airbrushes. Many thanks Cliff
While the H&S airbrushes are well built. And many love them there are two reasons I don’t use them.
1st on any of the lower end (ultra or evolution solo). You can’t get one with direct exposed needle without buying it separate. With a few years in, having the needle exposed is something I much much prefer. So much so I just keep all my needle guards in a small jar
2. This affects all of their brushes. There is a small amount of delay/take up slack whatever you want to call it in all of them. When you initially pull back it takes a small travel distance before it is far enough for paint. It produces great results after that but getting used to that when you are used to instant response is a huge deal. I’m not alone in that, and I believe those two reasons keep them from having a much larger presence in the us.
You can also throw in the infinity is more costly than just about every brush I have. It’s hard to drop that kind of cash on a brush unless you absolutely love it.
The gsi creos 270 costs just over 100.00 us, and will produce lines and atomization nearly if not as good as the infinity. While having a max valve and a more predictable trigger.
Again some absolutely love their evolution and infinity airbrushes but having tried them, they were not what I wanted.
@@TheAIRspace Hi Bill Thank you for getting back to me. Yes I agree about the trigger. It can be frustrating. Perhaps I should try the creos. I watched your video on the 289 I think it was. That sounds like an amazing airbrush, better than Iwata. Thanks again Bill. By the way you have helped me a lot. I'm still not very good but for now I will blame my airbrush.😄.
Keep the vids coming thanks from Cornwall, UK
I started out with Neo cn I like it but might get the 270 one
Oh an just started airbrushing fishing lures
Hey Bill
Another good video I like the way you do your videos they're always so informative Thank You.
What I hate is every time you show new equipment, you cost me more Money! I need a part time job LOL
Thanks Buddy! And i hear ya art supplies and gear are expensive! i bought an m1 ipad pro at the end of the year, and it wasn't even my most expensive art expense for last year ;0 Fortunately I offset that by selling my old ipad pro for about half of what I originally paid for it. (which was before i was doing this for a living)
i like theworksmanship o both my 289 and 270 creos brushesespecially for the prices
they arevery well built!
My favorite part starts about 3:35 🤣
But I don't airbrush so...
unintentional as it may be glad I got it on film :)
😂🤣😂🤣
My ps289 cap cannot open .. why yours can opened
Hi Bill,
Audio sounds good.
Video is also good but when you are doing a piece to camera ... the camera seems to be focusing on the background leaving your face just a tad soft... only a minor thing but you did ask for feedback.
I too like the creos airbrushes but still favor my micron sd.
We are going to get into pro mode shooting before long, which will allow me to have more control over focus. We tried to make sure and lock focus, because if you do not you get that strobing effect of the autofocus moving in and out with movement. I have watched a boatload of tutorials and I figure it will take about 10 videos from here to get where im relatively comfortable with the gear and how to edit better.
I seriously cringe at how bad some of my old videos footage was.. especially sound. :)
Thanks Ken!
another great video. 👍👍 Just had a look at pricing and they are definitely good value at a fraction of the price of say your high end airbrushes.
definitely a great value!
I love these brushes.. even over my eclipse.
I still got a soft spot for my eclipses, and I dont think ill ever not have one. But these are very good.
Id give up the 289 before the 270. the 270 is crazy good as a non fussy detail airbrush. I use it over my micron or my 771 in almost every instance. Im not sure i got much of a difference out of the 289.. Which means both brushes are really close to the same. The eclipse can put out more air and slightly thicker paints.. so it gets a lot of use in heavy opaque paint
@@TheAIRspace GOt that too.. Creos product is well worth its money.
I need one of them chairs 😂
Its a saddle seat, and its awesome. we are going to pick up two with backs on them as well.
Its rated at 450 pounds so my fat self probably wont break it anytime soon. It really helps you keep from slouching in your chair.
This one raises up pretty high.. enough my feet barely touch the floor saddle style. Its perfect for sit / stand combination working which is what I do most often. (i have spine issues from a bad fall off a truck) really good for posture.
@@TheAIRspace it sounds like that's spot on for what you need 👍
Compare infinity with creos the quality of built and trigger control
I've owned my ps-270 for almost 4 years now and have never had any issues with it! But for the life of me, how do you remove the entire head assembly? Mine is on so tight that it won't budge with fingers. 😬
use a flat wrench the first time.. from there you should be able to just put it back on by hand. As a side note if you remove the entire head assembly it becomes no reason to unthread the nozzle to clean. In 2 years i've removed the nozzle on my 270 one time I use a liner brush through the backside for cleaning. So i never have to worry about the threads getting damaged or stretched over time. and of course no worry over dropping the nozzle and it rolling out of sight somewhere as well :)
Class!!
It would be nice to see a version of tier list of airbrushes it gets kind of confusing watching reviews by different people using them for different things with different skill levels and knowledge levels. There's got to be a way to objectively categorize them all in a objective way. Like I use mostly just American made one's passche talon raptor and badger 155 and 360 and krome. And it's hard to guess how they compare to say grex or sparmax or creos lines. It's fairly easy to see iwata is very good but also twice the price for what seems to be very intangible reasons they don't look to be atomizing or having more range of spray from smallest to largest pattern or anything like that. There's so much difference between starting out and months or years later in what you can make them do. It adds it's own layer of questions when watching reviews as Well. It'd have to be someone like you with many examples of your art work so everyone can judge that part as not a issue as it's easily established your quiet advanced.
The problem can be is lots of things are subjective.
The reason I didn’t spend a lot of time showing what this airbrush can do is simply. I can make any decent airbrush get fine lines. I do intend to roundup some airbrushes.
As for iwata being more. They are just more refined than badger and pasche. So just the feel of them alone and how polished things are is evident of quality. The creos has every bit of the quality of the Iwata airbrushes. And of course cost less.
Then there are things people like. I love the eclipse self centering nozzle. And the one on my badger Omni as well. I prefer the style. But certainly my badgers are more apt to leaking at the head assembly. Which is an annoyance. I’d prefer to buy American. But there is no doubt in my mind iwata and creos offer a more refined airbrush. They aren’t bad but I’ve had more issues with them.
I’m gonna go through every airbrush I have individually then do some comparisons over the next 4 or 5 months (it’s a lot of airbrushes).
Thanks for the video. how much psi you normally use with It?
I just run my regulator around 40 and adjust the mac valve. Sometimes I spray higher pressure but that’s thicker paints and I’ll usually pull out a bigger airbrush for that. (Bigger nozzle)
Putting cost aside which is better, the Iwata Eclipse HP-CS or this ?
Their different
And which one is better will depend
The cs will spray a slightly bigger pattern and handle a little thicker paints
The 289 will atomize the paint a little better and be a little easier to control for smaller blends
Quality wise this is top notch it’s every bit as good as an eclipse
With that said the eclipse is my all time favorite airbrush. It’s just simple and does so much so well. Of course the eclipse was my first really good airbrush so whenever I pick it up it’s kind of like visiting an old friend. But the 289 does just a little easier work on details. And I can get really tiny with the eclipse it’s just smoother by a hair with the 289
@TheAIRspace great explanation much appreciated. I have just bought an Eclipse but am yet to use it.. is my first airbrush.. am just getting into airbrushing. So I decided to get something which is generally considered to be an old dependable, easy to service good quality all rounder. I just wonder if I should get a cheaper 0.5 maybe for spraying base colours ,primer and lacquers.. or will the Eclipse handle those.. I know is a steep learning curve.. but that's part of the fun !
@@ShorrockPaul you can get a .5 setup for your eclipse
It’s a great choice durable quality and you will never outgrow it
Best to you on your journey!
@TheAIRspace thank you sir!
Ok this is not an airbrush question, but I would like to know about your magnetic board you use. Is it something you made? Can you buy it? Did you buy something then customize it?
well in this case I didnt use a magnetic easel, however often im painting on a magnetic dry erase board. My main one is very heavy and 40 inches wide by 28 inches tall.
But i often use just a small magnetic dry erase board. which can be cleaned easy enough.. or covered with paper. for the magnetic stuff.
Sometimes ill hot glue magnets on the back of canvases and just stick them right on the board as an easy to adjust and move solution.
So I bought this airbrush and a cool runner air compressor that came with 1/4 inch line The airbrush looks to have a fitting that goes down to 1/8 inch but I can screw it off. Is it ok to go 1/4 inch line straight into the gun or is the reducer their for a reason?
I cant speculate not knowing what airbrush you are referring to. However likely the air compressor and airbrush hose is 1/8 inch BSP
I’m considering purchasing this as my first airbrush to paint duck decoys (fairly large birds), and small fishing baits as well. Do you recommend it? And how long can paint last such as 10ml gravity fed?
Thanks
Blake
airbrush paint goes a very long way. It is not likely you will ever fill the cup completely. Now if your priming and basepainting you go through a lot more. But all your shading and details last quite a long bit.
This is an excellent airbrush, and the .3 is generally the best multipurpose size nozzle. It will definitely do almost everything on your baits, and you would only want more for priming your large ducks.
10ML is about 1/3rd of an ounce, and most airbrush paint bottles are 1oz or 2 oz bottles. 10ML will paint a lot. Multiple Lures certainly.
Your shading and details you will likely be using just a few drops of paint.
I would love a comparison video on comparable airbrushes, especially with the HP-C, Sparmax (etc) and for shits and giggles, even with a knockoff Chinese airbrush like the Master.
I think ill plan a roundup comparison on a few brushes in MAY. I need to see if I could borrow a high line. I don't have one here to compare. Having used them, it would be a very close comparison, the cutaway handle is one thing id wish for on these :)
Man... I was set on getting the IWATA HP-CH then saw the Procon PS-289 and then the PS-270 and now I can't make up my mind.... I build mostly 1/72-1/48 Aircrafts and like to do the camo by hand. any input would be appriciated
Im a big fan of the 270, the 289 as well. But the 270 really has become my go to detail airbrush. Its soo close to the micron/ps770 capabilities yet a little less picky about paint reduction. I personally find it a little more comfortable to hold for long times as well. But that is a personal preference. The head assembly being removeable and if you really felt the need you could pull a needle and head assembly for a 770 (with a needle packing change) bringing you to an even finer needle if you wanted. And could do all of that and still have less in it than a CH... without risking damaging the nozzle threads (because the head comes off)
Or you could buy both a 289 and a 270 for about the same money as a CH. I'm sure you can probably figure out what I would do :)
@@TheAIRspace perfect! great input, thank you. btw, do you happen to know if I can put the a 0.3 in the 270 too (changing parts obviously). Also, did you happen to have used the CH, and if so, would you say the trigger is about as accurate?
@@Matik0912 yes I have. The ch technically has a better trigger design.
I would have to put them both side by side and see if I preferred one. But the trigger on the 289 and 270 definitely is a minor bit smoother than my eclipse. But id really really have to split hairs on it. Either the 270/289 or ch have excellent responsiveness and smoothness.
@@Matik0912 And absolutely the parts can interchange between the 270 and 289. However that's needle nozzle and aircap all have to match. So say you wanted to buy a 270 and convert it later. you would buy a 289 needle nozzle and aircap and change all 3 parts.
@@TheAIRspace Thanks!
Love the video! I have one request, though. Could you please stop making me want to buy things? ;D
hah well... if you can stop me from buying things ;/ Unfortunately checking out gear is part of the territory :) But if your gonna buy well you know where the links are ; )
RE the internals, all are replaceable.
Yes there is a full assortment of parts available at the links I left.
я купил такой, и он реально крутой.
Great!
