Recently bought the PS-290. It seems to atomize the paint better and sprays as good a fan as my Paasche Talon with a 0.6mm nozzle and fan air cap. My experience, it seems to be happiest at around 28psi. Needs a compressor that puts out around 0.8 cfm or better for continuous spraying.

The creos brushes are awesome, easily comparable to Iwata, I heard they are made in the same plant , which could be true because the paper work that comes with the creos is in Japanese . so it could just be a brand name difference between the two.
I do know you can buy a bigger cup for it. I will have to look and dig it up. Its not a pretty big cup by airbrush standards. but yes you can easily go through a ton of paint with it.

1 around 35 and adjust from there 2 a rinse between colors should be fine 3 thinner for your paint. Water if water based and a gentle cleaner I use windex or fantastic often to clean airbrushes after I’m done for the day. Windex is controversial. But never been a problem as a quick cleaning for me 4 thin paints enough to spray properly thinning them to extend them will lead to poor adhesion. Again different paints are different so check with the manufacturer I tend to use a lot of water based products. Most from createx. From all of their lines each have their own purposes I occasionally use automotive urethane paints. Craft paints can be thinned to use in this. Anything can really. However adhesion and coverage may be affected. Paints designed to be sprayed generally perform better Hope that helps! Thanks!
its really good for models and stuff about the size of this speed shape. if its not spraying even it can be too much air pressure. Its a much more delicate balance than a full on spray gun where you can control the air and the fluid seperately
Definitely a handy tool to have. I tend to not use it a while.. then ill use it for 3 days. Of course I paint pets and portraits a lot. Ive got a boatload of metal panels coming.. i bet it gets a workout :)

Hi im a beginner, I can't use the ones with trigger on the top so i look for other options, so this one has the trigger under it? Would you reccomend it?
That would depend on what you were going to use it for. This is generally for larger surfaces. they also sell the 275 which has a smaller nozzle so a bit more suitable for more detail work. Generally speaking the lever type airbrushes like this one will not afford as much accuracy as a normal double action brush. But that's not to say it cant be achieved.

@@karninana by not using a typical airbrush you are really limited in the amount of brushes available. for painting cosplay parts, the wider spray pattern is going to be the most useful to spray out large pieces. where it becomes a question is how small the pieces are. and if you intend to do any artistic effects. But you are definitely limiting yourself a great deal wanting only a spray gun style lever. Just the way you have to hold one hinders the ability to control one for artistic purposes. Then you need to take into account the type of paints you will be using... thicker paints require a bigger needle. No detail airbrush is going to cover large cosplay pieces smoothly.
does anyone know how this holds up against grex tg3? i have 3 creos brushes, they are all amazing, but i cant decide whether to go with creos or grex for this purchase...both seem great.
I will know more about the grex with the .7 tip when i go to tamco, however on the small needle sizes this will let out paint better. its just the nature of how a normal airbrush needle versus a spray gun type needle is setup. This is very much a blunt tip designed for wider spray
Can I use this to spray small areas of my RV? I need to do some minor lower body panels on my fiberglass panels. (Prevost Coach H3). Basically a greyhound bus all fiberglass. Lower panels get scratched Periodically
That's a lot of surface for an airbrush.. this is sort of a bridge between an airbrush and a mini spray gun. Can you blend with this certainly. Will it spray wide enough for your needs to blend out the scratches. you are the only person who can answer that.
Just make sure and not let it kick, and clean like anything else . If your needing to bridge the airbrush to mini spray gun you won't regret it. I've not heard one complaint about these from anyone I know who has one.
This would be great to use to do guitar bodies with. I have a turbine HVLP unit which works ok for primer, solid color, and clear, but this would work great for doing the burst edges or spraying on dye tinted clear and I wouldn't need to go to a minigun. Even though the NOName Tooty compressor is for airbrushing would it be appropriate to match up with the PS-290? The 6-8 gallon and larger compressors pull too many amps on my garage circuit unfortunately which is why I went with the turbine. Now if 3M would make a PPS adapter for the PS-290 it'd be perfect for what I would want it for.
these are very very good at doing those burst edges on guitars, The tooty will handle it for a period. If you were trying to run it non stop for a few minutes at a time it would overheat. But for burst edges, and fades and blends it shouldn't be a problem at all. As of yet no pps adapter for these. But the cups clean out a bit easier than a regular spray gun cup at least. I may find out what thread this is sometime and see if there is an adapter i can make to another PPS adapter. I have the 2.0 system myself.
@@TheAIRspace thanks. I use the 2.0 system on my turbine. Would something like the 1 gallon Fortress compressor work better even though it essentially has the same tank size as the tooty? I’m limited to about 10 amps and space. It would be used pretty sparingly at just a couple times/month at most.
@@Bloozestringer The 1 gallon fortress would be better for certain. a bit more power and higher pressure . A slightly more powerful CAT or the 2 gallon with the stronger motor Fortress would be even better and cover you a long way. If you are doing guitars you may et into a mini hvlp later however So I would look into say the 4.3 gallon kobalt or the 6 gallon Cat. I believe they are about 10 amps. I know it will run off a 15 amp circuit for sure.
have you tried this with a 3 liter compressor? You know, the one everyone uses, mine is 23 liters per minute - Can it be run on a compressor like that? - I am just about to pull the trigger on one
Well 23 lpm is a lot. But a 3 liter tank tells me you mean an airbrush compressor. Yes they will run off a small tanked airbrush compressor.. however you would not want to be spraying huge volumes.. To base a few small things it is ok.

it will run off one of those. its not that much of an air hog. For models you will be fine.. now if your batch painting that's gonna have it screaming. It truly excels at exactly what your planning on doing.
I plan on getting a new airbrush and using it for some color matching on vinyl and paint corrections on my car. I have a master airbrush compressor, will this be sufficient for my project?
Paint corrections.. maybe depends on your expectations. It's extraordinarily difficult to do a clear coat blend in.. like a smart repair unless you really know what your doing. This is a great airbrush, at the end of the day it's not a spray gun. Despite it spraying wide.

@@seanmiller3500 That compressor will struggle, I recently did a video about compressors. And i dont even use "airbrush" compressors anymore. Of course for outside, if you have a home compressor you could get adapters and use that... if not. Id strongly recomend one of the new quiter home garage type compressors.. you can airbrush with them.. and use them to fill tires.. dust off things etc. As for rock chips.. get a touch up kit. brush in basecoat, squeegee in clear and buff and settle. As for the keyed spots.. thats very dependant on how long they are.
@@TheAIRspace dang ok I was hoping it would work. I’ve kinda already brushed them in and they didn’t quite come out too good and one of them is so deep it’s noticeable. I have my old stock hood that has some scratches on it so I’ve been using filler and used my old airbrush to blend it and it came out pretty good just did have a large enough fan and that was a $30 kit from eBay with one of those small handheld box compressors. So I wanted to get a better brush and use my newer compressor especially since this brush is around 150 and I’m on somewhat of a budget
Will it shoot thicker things okay, like metallic paints? I would think so, but not sure with 0.5 tip. Also, I saw your reply to someone else that it would be very difficult to blend clear coat paint with it. Is there something about airbrushes that makes it harder to blend than it would be with a detail spray gun? Thanks in advance!
all but the heaviest metallics will spray well through this. You can blend clear perfectly well with this in most cases. I believe I was referring to larger surfaces. The benefit of a detail spray gun is you can adjust the fan width independant of the total pressure at the tip. Whereas of course here it is a fixed pattern. If you increase pressure the fan of course will start to become wider, and vice versa. But make no mistake it blends very well. If you look up the new 4053 gloss video I recently did, the waterbased clear on the speed shape was done with this gun :) Also you may want to see the flair color shift video. I sprayed ALL of the flair colorshift speed shapes with this gun (which of course are all pearls)
Quick question on the 290, how much did you need to reduce the UVLS to get it through the brush? Just got one and can't get much out of it even after reducing
uvls is pretty thick. Id have to guess it was probably close to 10 - 15 percent reduction. And its very important to mix in a seperate cup and pour in when its that thick. Letting it mix and sit for a few. which is pretty much the norm for any spray gun work.

@@rorycampion5890 yeah what happens is the big heavy thick stuff goes straight to the bottom and you pull the trigger and gums it up. If you have it well mixed beforehand that limits that issue.
First watched this video when it came out.. I finally went onto eBay and Found one For a great Price with free shipping.. so a great deal. It arrived today and after testing it out.. I'm wondering why I didn't buy one sooner! It surly does pump the Paint fast .. and hopefully my second gsi Creos Airbrush arrives in the next few days.. PS771.. Can it handle Auto borne sealers? or would that be a strictly Spray Gun application? I got a 64 oz Stainless steel Flask From Maple Airbrush and Not Sure if I should Prime it with the ULVS or the Auto Borne?
Yes I use autobourne sealer in this. With about 5 percent maybe 10 percent reducer. Gsi does not give me anything. However I do make a little on Amazon and through spraygunner. Also spraygunner as well as createx have sent me free paints to try. But every brush I’ve reviewed I’ve paid for and use myself. Honestly I like it that way 😂
Yeah I'd like to see a handle with it.. I had some points so I got a discount even above the reasonable price. But yeah I'll probably go ahead and pay the 25 bucks 😄

Just love.mine..only issue is you have to be pretty close to get the fan to spray evenly it seems. Even with proper air and reduction.

I have this brush and pressure pushes paint up out of the cup. Has anyone had problem? so much pressure it will pop a lid off the cup
loose or cracked nozzle would be my first thought of a possibility to check.

the TH2 is a wider pattern. It is virtually identical to a TH in performance minus the mac valve.
Does this fit the airbrush tube holder that usually come with smaller air compressors?

Can it handle Auto borne sealers? or would that be a strictly Spray Gun application? I got a 64 oz Stainless steel Flask From Maple Airbrush and Not Sure if I should Prime it with the ULVS or the Auto Borne?
Yes I use autobourne sealer in this. With about 5 percent maybe 10 percent reducer.
Gsi does not give me anything. However I do make a little on Amazon and through spraygunner.
Also spraygunner as well as createx have sent me free paints to try.
But every brush I’ve reviewed I’ve paid for and use myself. Honestly I like it that way 😂
Also the 771 is a fantastic detail brush. One of the best for sure

Yeah I'd like to see a handle with it.. I had some points so I got a discount even above the reasonable price. But yeah I'll probably go ahead and pay the 25 bucks 😄

haha i did use autofocus.. it wouldnt focus on the needle.
@@TheAIRspace . The box was in focus but the gun wasn’t. What I can see is that does quite a good job but eats paint. 😀
@@airbrushingbynick6071 well i wasnt putting the cup full.. so there is that.. but when you basecoat it will eat paint for certain. you could drop an ounce of paint in a real hurry.
