    Great review, Bill!Just seen your shorts on the pps cups 2.0 fitting the ps290 great hack, by the way! Love pps system in particulary the 2.0) I won't go back to using regular cups. The one looks solid! Pretty good spray pattern! Thanks for sharing 👍

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  Год назад +1

      unfortunately the 2.0 wont hack into this cup.. But im leaving the 2.0 setup behind and going back to the old style because the 3 oz cups are too shallow to be useful. i realize a lot of folks wouldnt use a pps cup for small amounts of paint. because they are kinda expensive. But i like to keep my water based clears in a PPS cup.. Because well you get it who wants to clean cups :) They also sell an adapter for the 290 now. (i may sell my 290 after I get a .6 for this one.. but I still kinda love that brush)
      I would honestly not hesitate to paint a lot of stuff with this that I would normally use my lph 80 for.

    Does air brush have fumes? I want to paint something 6 inches wide 15 inches tall . Trying to get away from spray cans . Painting plastic

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  4 месяца назад

      depends on the paint, but most waterbased airbrush paints are fairly low odor. you still want to use a mask for the overspray.

    We're you able to get the PPS adapter from spraygunner? I got my mini gun a few months ago and I love it, but hate cleaning the cup... not even spraygunner has done a video on this, I think you're the 1st.. thanks for the review

      You need this adapter
      spraygunner.com/spray-guns/parts-and-accessories/disposable-cups-adapters/adapter-for-disposable-cup-adapter/?aff=15
      And this adapter for pps1

      There is an adapter for the GSI creos and Iwata TH but you need both ones I linked to adapt to a pps cup from the minigun.

    Please HELP. Would this run with the iwata studio series compressor & would the gun work ok with solvent based paints?

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  10 месяцев назад +1

      I don't think any of the studio series compressors are strong enough to run this. You are going to need around 1.5 CFM or 44LPM to run one of these. I believe the power jet pro only delivers about .8CFM
      The second answer is yes these will work with solvents.

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  10 месяцев назад

      i actually forgot the maxx jet, which I think would run it. but as below. 1.5 CFM is your target to use one of these .

      @@TheAIRspace could I maybe bother you will the problem I’ve got? So basically im looking for a trigger style airbrush with a fan cap. I do surface repair for a living & the company I work with it’s all very heavy gear & im tired of carrying all the overpowered equipment I just want something I can use with a small compressor that has a fan pattern that I can be more mobile with 😂

      if thats a big enough pattern to do what your looking for.
      But its a .5 how thick of material are you spraying and how big an area are all questions you gotta look at.

    Also be careful if you go to take that bigger nozzle piece off, I used me wrench from my hvlp and it chipped a section from the outer threads, the meatal is soft.. use a 17mm end wrench, the end that goes all the way around it to be safe.

      I have not removed the head assembly. Ive pulled them off the procon boy 290 and a TH before and both times dinged them up.. They are all brass and if like those brushes on extremely tight.

    On the one hand, it looks really useful for base coating scale model planes and cars. 😁
    On the other hand, I primarily paint Gunpla. 😅
    So I guess I'll pass on it.

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  Год назад +1

      Very useful for the guys who do skate decks and tumblers as well. But if I were doing gunpla id certainly not be looking at anything of this size.
      Maybe a 290 to bulk prime if you were bulk painting It would definitely be too much for that use.

    Wow. My Grex is not even close to that gun. I have a heavy top and bottom and the bottom is not looking so good. The pattern looks like a barbell shape. This gun is sweet.

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  8 месяцев назад

      Dumbell shape spray patterns have 3 causes...
      Air pressure too high, fan pattern to wide or fluid volume too low.
      Since with these types of guns we cannot adjust the fan pattern, and presume we only turn up air high enough to achieve atomization.. It leaves us with one problem.
      Like MANY MANY spray pattern airbrushes. The grex suffers from the wrong type of needle for a spray gun type performance. Two things happen when the needle protrudes through the nozzle that are fighting against the entire purpose of a fan pattern.
      One your volume is partially blocked from the needle, even when fully retracted it is still choking off volume.
      Two as fluid follows the air as it closes in around the needle you are pulling the paint to a smaller diameter (which is why long tapered needles produce finer lines generally speaking) Of course THAT is at odds with spraying a wider pattern.
      Lower volume and room for pigments of course is at odds with spraying heavier paints .. like basecoating with pearls and such. Or heavy primers. Things you might be wanting to use a "large coverage" for.
      Of course when i mention those glaring defects people get touchy.
      With that all said, by far this gun has outperformed every other fan pattern airbrush i have tried. Even the gsi creos 290/ iwata wont compare if high volume coverage is what you are looking for. The TH2 and this are close... the TH atomizes a little finer perhaps. This has a slightly heavier coverage.
      FWIW i think the Tritium is massively overpriced.
