It is very disappointing that General Motors no longer manufactures the Chevrolet SS and the Pontiac G8. GM pulled the plug on manufacturing cars in Australia through Holden because it costs too much to build it. Both cars were based on the Holden Commodore VE/VF. They were such great cars.

They changed a lot. Mrc came in 2015. Front fascia changed, hood vents 16, aux port delete 16, android play, bi modal exhaust in 2016, 2014 has 2 piston rear non brembo. 4 piston in the front. 15 and 16 is the same, but 15 has silver calipers while 16 has red. Rear diffuser was painted in 15 and not 14. Quad exhaust in rear 16 and 17 only. Suspension has been tuned in 16 from 15. 16 is softer than 15. 16 and 17 are very similar. Under hood, the air tube has been punched into firewall for more sound from the engine for 16 17. Btw, i have a 2015 heron white a6. Nice cars you two! Welcome to the club.
    Also wheels changed too.

I wish I had a His and Hers SS sitting in my driveway. In Australia, I have a Holden SS-V Redline VF Series II 2017 edition - similar to your 2016 SS but not quite.
I have summarised these key differences between the two models - I hope I have not bored you:
-- They've added a mechanical sound enhancer, a plastic tube running off the intake to the firewall which helps pipe the induction noise into the cabin.
-- The twin exhaust is actually a bi-modal exhaust with a flap that pops open to let the gases run straight through the muffler, and there's also a hole in the exhaust tip, called the Bailey Tip after its late inventor, that helps direct some of the noise flow back toward the car and into the rear seat of the cabin. Ever sat in the rear seat? Try it out and let someone else drive...
-- They redesigned the front bumper which has a wider intake to feed more air into the engine bay and the vents on the trailing edge of the bonnet are there to allow hot air to escape easier.
-- The highly technical outer sections of the bumper also feature functional intakes that direct air flow through to the inside of the wheel arches to lower its wind resistance.
There, that's as technical as I can get. I have extracted some of the above information from various websites. My channel is hopefully coming soon.

You didn’t mention that the 2017 has additional safety technology. I don’t recall what all of them are, but lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring and cross traffic alerts are some of them. There also have been yearly upgrades, as well. I think larger sway bars are among those. I don’t know if the ‘14 car has an exhaust bypass. Nice job, guys.

With GM pulling the plug on Holden here in Australia. What you have is the last generation of Aussie muscle. Look after them and their value will slowly rise. It's already started to here & there are heaps on the road. In the states, where they are a little rarer. The price will eventually skyrocket. Might not help you much. But in 20yrs, it'll give your kids a big piece of a mortgage. Nice vid mate. =D

A couple of other small differences you forgot to mention is the ‘14 and ‘15 had an audio jack in the center console and an in dash CD player and on the ‘16 and ‘17 they were deleted. Also the heads up display doesn’t have the same options as the first two years. Just some added info. Nice cars.

With the magnetic ride, I have a question, do you keep yours in sport, or is tour mode still pretty stiff. I've heard on other videos people think it was too floaty. Also the exhaust system on the 16-17 is the same as the Camaro. The 14s still used the old G8 pipes because they were really trying for a stealth approach. My G8 GT still has the stock exhaust, and you can't hear nothing when you rev it up

Nice to see these Aussie Holden Commodores finally being appreaciated in the US, even if they do carry Chevy badges. Also, the 2014 model has a 6 liter V8, and the 2016 model has a 6.2 Litre V8, and that's why the fuel economy in the black one isn't as good as the white one... but anyway, enjoy. I drive the 2010 version with the 6 liter v8, tuned a bit for 500bhp.

The earlier cars factory wheels were lighter forged alloy, while the later cars are just standard alloy wheels. The earlier car also has the more buttoned down FE3 suspension, later series 1 were softened up a bit. There is also some more sound deadening around the firewall area in series 1. Not sure of the Chev export cars, but in Australia they also went from dual horns in the early cars to a single horn in the newer cars.

I'm not a big fan of the hood vents along with the engine noise to cab..it's the flavor of the day.:( Both rides are sweet looking and wouldn't kick neither one out of the garage. Add a VCM or other CIA, a tune, and it will really wake them up with shifting, etc. Are you members of the Oklahoma G8/SS Club on Facebook? There are 4 modes. Track mode is a double tap on the TC button. And you should hear it with a Whipple supercharger. Mine is a 2016 with a manual. And a Whipple. And it comes with an engine cover. Which I really don't like. I also don't like the intake resonator. All of which has been fixed on mine. In anything but touring mode, the 2016 feels stiffer than the 2014. But it is quite comfortable in touring mode. Also, the factory Bridgestone RE050 are horrible, stiff, slippery, and loud. A set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires sorts all that out.

FYI you have both series 1 & 2 VF SS Redline commodores, black one is S2. Main differences are:
6.0L L77(362Hp) vs the bigger 6.2L LS3(408Hp) all SS models come with factory engine covers btw
only S2 has (HSV)sports exhaust with bi-module controller in screen settings(even popping & crackling is standard)
that's why the white one was so quiet b4 you upgraded.
S2 has heads up display, launch control & then things u mentioned like front bumper facelift, painted diffuser, HSV bonnet vents etc.🤙

The late models of course were fully imported from Australia and are loaded with all the extras built into the car. Poor promotion of the car led to its demise; Many members of the public didn't even know this car existed which is a shame as it rates as one of the best vehicles in its class. BL0HARD nope and no cupholder and the backseats

    • @BL0HARD
      @BL0HARD 6 лет назад

Luckys Wheelz N Dealz yeah they got rid of that too with VF2. Not such a bad thing because I thought it could have got activated out with a child in the back then kicked downwards, especially if your carrying boys that fight each other in the backseat.

Both are beautiful, I would prefer the black one. Especially because it has MAG ride. I mean... I know your girl prefers a little softer suspension but GM mag ride is almost the best in the business. The Cadillac V’s use MAG ride as well, it allows them to really keep the heavy vehicle compliant. Nice rides 👍

Oh ! Mine is white and i love it.
I hope you get lots of happy miles as i am.
    Thank you xx.

Nice comparison. So my wife really wants to know, how do you keep your black trims clean? She just got her car detailed and the polish is now on the bumper, which she is having difficulty removing. So can you share your secret? Or were you going to do another video showing us your secret? :-) Thanks in advance.

Like the black one better , painted to Mach plastic, less plastic on the engine, BUT I like her rims better on the white one, basically put the rims off the white car on the black car and that would be perfect

I think the white style is Better my brother but the black one hood is better I like that. And I like the silver calibers better. Honestly I like the white one. And the back of the white one I like the avalanche plastic and I like those 2011 Camaro wheels on the white one. All around the white and the black one has to much chrome on it. And the white has better gas mileage. Just my opinion

Great video on two great cars.
It is really cool to see a couple of Aussie made cars in the one family. I do like the 2016 Chevrolet SS better as it has the MRC.
Down here in Australia it is only the HSV GTS or the HSV Senator that have the MRC.
The last ( Holden Special Vehicles ) HSV GTS -R W1 has the LS9 from the Corvette Z06.
