I've noticed that the shape of the blade of the Sentinel (the second knife) has become very trendy lately. No wonder, it seems to be optimal, very utilitarian and cool looking at the same time. I agree, Sencut has knocked this one out of the park.
I had both on reserve from Blade HQ for weeks. I just checked, and my order should ship this afternoon or tomorrow. I'm still freaked about a double win yesterday. Many thanks to you and Cara.
The vision fg is awesome. My current favorite budget knife. Feels very solid in hand, the perfect weigxxxxht. Super lock is smooth, and the lock-up is extra solid. Thumb Stud action is great. Got the jade g10 since I hate coated blades. Hopefully they come out with more colors/materials.

The future is here! I agree 100 percent about hoping companies keep implementing premium designs in budget friendly versions. These two are shining examples of what a lot of companies can do and it’s exciting. You are right this is the best time to be in the knife community because it is so much more diverse and flat out way more kick ass than it was 20 and 30 years ago when I first started collecting.
This, and I think it's a good move from Civivi to use budget materials rather than lower build quality to get to a certain price point for these premium designs.
@@brella2209 absolutely a great move on Civivi. They easily could have lowered the tolerances and made it super flimsy but they opted to keep the action and size the same. As he said in the video the action is exactly the same as the WE version which is awesome to hear!
Vision is/was my grail. When Snecx announced the Civivi version, I had to get one no matter what. My Damascus Ivory G10 landed yesterday and it is superb! Grail achieved!
The original was using poor performance and low value 20cv due to poor heat treat protocol. It was not worth it. The new one is a Chinese sanmai with 10cr15coMov which is a cheaper version of vg10 and cladding on the sides of 5cr and 316. Not worth the 80 they are charging on sale. The nitro-v version would be more in line with that sale price. Dont be fooled and learn more about the things your buying to make more informed decisions and stop getting ripped off. Stop listening to influencers and sales. They just want to pull the rug from under you. Use critical thinking.

I love how Civivi takes some of their premium WE designs down to the more mass market level. Don't have the Ziffius but do have an Exciton. Even with the perplexing K110 choice, I'll still get a Sentinel for an excellent edc beater.
K110 is Böhler steel and made in Germany. It's very consistent and because of that consistency knife companies have a much easier time getting a consistent heat treatment for their blades. D2 can come from anywhere and composition can vary, throwing off the heat treatment
K110 is still a good steel, I’d rather have the Damascus for the stainless and I like the way 10Cr functions so it’s all good. Civivi will treat that K110 well and that edge will last.

I just bought the sentinel with the black blade. I really like light weight knives for kayak fishing. As long as their easy to deploy and retract and they won’t break my heart if they fall into the water. I’m waiting on the mail to deliver a nymble t2 for an edc. I wouldn’t be aware of either knife if it wasn’t for your channel, so thanks!
A bit late but I just bought the black/olive one and the damascus green one and then I switched the frn back parts so I now have a green/olive green and an all black sentinel strike that looks awesome now!
I just ordered the white g10 and Damascus one. If I like it, which I’m sure I will, I’m gonna get another like either the black one or green for a user. Can’t wait to try it
I bought the Sentinel Strike when they were released, I just put a deposit on my Vision, which will arrive in a week. Civivi make fantastic knives for the price.
I think they put the clip where they did because, if it was in the center, the seam of your pocket would stick in the holes. Or maybe the pocket clip would fall into the hole and not leave an entry point for your pocket.
Nice Video! I picked up a S Strike this morning. The Ziffius and Exciton are grail knives of mine but to much $$$ at the moment. So glad We/Civivi made these affordable Versions for us mere mortals, lol.
I got the sentinel a few days ago. Only two things i dont like is the stop pin placement and the glass breaker. But those are little stupid things. I love it so much. I actually like it better than the serene.
I ordered both this morning👍🏻 I own few knifes in aliens steel but I don't torture knifes at 200.00 +. 80% of the time, I carry my Qubit. With those 2 , I will change it for the vision and the se sentinel. Good alternative 😂😂

I’d like to see them do that Vision FG in aluminum. I would try the Civivi titanium milled clip on it to see if it functions ok, it would be way more comfortable.
Someone in the comment's section mentioned the milled clip doesn't fit perfectly. I was also thinking of getting one for my damascus Vision. If it fails, I can at least use it on the Chevalier or Imperium.

I'm new to Knife world. I have bought. They were fine not knowing anything. I bought a spyderco para 2. I love it. Will not be buying cheaper knives again. They are good but spending 80 here are there. Just spend the money
maybe you had a lemon ive been very happy with the nitro v, with any steel it has limitations you cant expect k390 when buying nitro v, and if you are taking care of you edge they are great

I was really excited for thistle sentinel strike. Got one and it’s alright but the flipper is too easy to fail. Did anyone else feel this way? Compared to my Kubey tityus for example.. when you use the flipper you literally can’t fail it. Any comments on this Jerod?

Is the Vision Superlock similar to a Demko Shark lock? It seems "sort of" similar, but with a much longer lock pin, and the spring location is moved back. But, I've never held either the vision or a demko, so I can't tell how similar/different they are.
I'm puzzled by the steel choice for the Sentinel. I think a budget Ziffius deserves a little better than D2. I've had the Vision FG pre-ordered since June, can't wait to get it in hand. I already have a replacement clip ordered. Thanks, Jerad! 👊

As far as the vision r goes I agree the civivi model is better in terms of design. It’s put together better not necessarily in terms of quality but in terms of the actual thought that goes into the overall end user/ consumer of the product making civivi iteration overall more user friendly in general

They can do both of them low from time to time. But the percentage of that happening is lower cause its fairly easy to do.

I love the way civivi look but when put next to the "lesser" brand Sencut serene, they loose which is insane due to the prices. Other than the D2 steal on the Sencut, everything else goes to Sencut.
Definitely different but Mr Murphy is definitely watching. Kinda like button locks where consideration of where the button is and the engineering to releasing the blade matter. We only need them to do better heat treatment and make them actually worth the money they are charging for them.

If you're left handed, the clip is never a problem. You can always move your fingers to find a comfortable hold.

NITRO V DOES WELL SIMILAR TO 14C
K110 is d2. So its not worth more than $40 max on any knife. Due to the performance they offer with its mass produced heat treatment.

I love the way civivi look but when put next to the "lesser" brand Sencut serene, they loose which is insane due to the prices. Other than the D2 steal on the Sencut, everything else goes to Sencut.
Aluminium and g10 would have to be cnc'd which would drive the price way up on this type of design.
A mold for frn also costs a lot to make.

FRN and G10 are the same material - one molded, one layered.
G10 is machined, frn is molded, g10 is far more rigid than frn
I bet the detent will weaken once you play with it more. (If you ever do that since you got all that out of your system with the first one)

Definitely different but Mr Murphy is definitely watching. Kinda like button locks where consideration of where the button is and the engineering to releasing the blade matter.
