- Just a quick overview of the CRK Backpacker. A premium and compact fixed blade with a pleasing design and a high quality feel in hand. This knife features CPM-Magnacut blade steel at the preferred Rockwell hardness of 63-64 HRC, and a stunning drop point style hollow grind. The backpacker is $300 and available directly from CRK here: chrisreeve.com... if you are willing to be on a waiting list.

Beautiful knife. Kind of hoping they do a smaller version.
@georgetek if they make a smaller one I'd definitely be into checking it out, thanks for tuning in!!
Like all their knives it looks nice but a 2 year waitlist is not nice.
Hollow Ground, interesting. Limits it's duty to slicing task and you wouldn't really want to do any bush crafting, or anything aggressive with it
Time will tell... 🤔 I wonder how good their warranty is if I FAFO 🤣
Pretty knife, now just put a normal finish and shine on the blade, a nice grain wood handle, a good leather sheath, and I'd be tempted to buy it...
one of the best fixed blades ever created. fullstop.
The market seems to think pretty highly of it, every time I see some pop up for sale somewhere they are full Nicholas Cage GONE in 60 🤣
Cost? Is a little higher than expected.
Sorry I seem to have left that very important detail out (I will have to start scripting these 😬) Retail is $300 if you are willing to order from Chris Reeves and wait it out... I paid significantly more because I'm not very smart 🤣
Great knive, but for me personaly the best of the best is south pole. It has perfect blade for my needs.
If I had to choose only one, I'm going to the South Pole also. It's a fantastic knife ✨🏆✨
No music needed. It makes your videos obnoxious and annoying to watch with all the crappy bass noise.
If you subscribe my next video will have ZERO music 🤔
Nice presentation. Excellent lighting. You win a subscriber!
That means a lot, thanks! Exactly what I'm shooting for and I'm happy that you took notice. What kind of gear is your favorite?
Yes, he does a real good job. 👍🏻
As always Chris Reve are beyond working class people 😅
Lucky! Been waiting for mine for several months now
I was impatient and bought mine on eBay 🤣 Shouldn't be too much longer I would hope!
God those beats were straight almond butter. Buttery AND nutty.
Literally the best of both worlds lol 😆 PS don't forget to subscribe, I will continue to slide in some heat where deemed appropriate (everywhere).
@@EDChero Subbed, big papa
Sick knife. I'm looking for a backpacking knife, this wont come fast enough and is likely a bit too expensive for the job at hand. However, I take good care of my stuff, so I could maybe? justify it😂. I would love to see a size comparison with the the Overland and Overland sport. I have a feeling this crk could be the Goldilocks.
I have a pretty ridiculous amount of fixed blades and I can't imagine a better backpack knife than this. Partly because it was made to be a backpack knife and has no belt attachment (I wish it did). The TRC Polheim would be my second choice but I think the CRK would be a better all around knife and definitely lighter 🏆
I got 5.. 🖐
How would you get a mount for the sheath?
@karlbailey1730 Unfortunately I forgot to mention in the video that one of areas of improvement I'd like to see would be for CRK to add a belt loop attachment of some kind, or an optional belt sheath as an upgrade perhaps. Personally I would like that but I do believe the knife was designed as a true backpack knife (just a guess) so in their eyes a mounting system was unnecessary. The knife is so small and light I can at least understand where they were coming from. Thanks for tuning in 🏆
Love that geometry, not sure about handle though
Definitely like the geometry! For what it's worth, the handle feels very good in hand 🖐🏼
You should be able to swap easily fortunately... definitely not many factory options!
@@EDChero its the protrusion in middle of handle thats botthering me.
@@olaf2554 Is it purely the esthetics, or you are worried it might cause a usability issue? I felt the same way, I thought it was dumb AF 😂 Butt, after handling the knife in person it isn't so bad... Aesthetically It isn't ideal for me, however in hand it just works somehow you don't feel it and the handle is actually super comfortable! I was surprised honestly. I absolutely love the blade shape, and when the knife is in hand all I see is that incredible geometry 🤩. It's really something to behold. 🏆
@@EDChero im thinking about usability. Think it would make a great hunting knife but can imagine it being a hotspot after having it in hand for a while
I would choose the TRC Polheim over this. Same price, same steel, same measurements but I like the optics more.
@FishingParrot the TRC Polheim is a great smaller knife also, I think I might do a video on it next 🤔
The TRC Pohlheim is really a great kinfe 👍 TRC knives are generally top notch, my favorite knife from TRC is the South Pole.
@@achimgeist5185Definitely agree with you on the Southpole. That knife is damn near perfect, the size, the shape, the look, the build quality, the feel in hand, the sheath -it's all SO damn good.
@@EDChero I own four South Poles, the old version with screwed-on handle scales (Elmax), the newer version in Apo finish (Elmax) , the 10th Anniversary (M390) and the V4E DLC (Vanadis 4 Extra) 😅
Nice looking blade
But I’ll pass on the magnacut for field use ✌️
Hey there! what is your fav steel for an application like this?
I’m an old school 16 year disabled combat veteran, 18b
All these super steels to me are like how Baskin Robbin’s went from 10
To 31 flavors of ice cream
I still only eat 3
Anyway, give me a good steel that I can easily touch up in the field with minimal work
Stropping preferably
I’ll take 1075 on a machete
1095 on a blade
My blades are tools not museum pieces
I take care of them and use them for their intended purpose
I don’t use a blade as an axe
However, on occasion I will use a hatchet as a blade
Particularly smaller hand hatchets
Call me old and out of touch
However I have other blades in different steels 3V, AEB-L, CPM varieties
And I don’t mind some of these steels
Hell I’d take a magnacut folder for my pants pocket
But I still enjoy my three flavors, particularly where I know they work perfectly for me ✌️🇺🇸
@jrbarilla I appreciate your service 🇺🇸 and insight, thank you for sharing! I sure do like me some 1095 too 🎉
@@jrbarilla I concur with your sentiment. My "three flavors" are 1095, 52100, and O1. Not ready for, nor do I need Magnacut.
@@EDChero I’ll take some 80CRV2 as well. A little tougher than 1095 but still very serviceable in the field ✌️
"I wear a large size medical glove" what a weird choice of glove for comparison. maybe leave the "medical" part out next time.
@ttattx Thanks for tuning in, I'll tell you my reasoning. Large medical gloves are pretty standard in size so I used that for reference. I'm also in the medical field, so I have a lot of experience with large medical gloves. Im purely assuming that any box of rubber or nitrile gloves from say Harbor Freight or the like are somewhat consistent in size. A "large" glove from different manufacturers could be all kind of varying sizes of random glove 🤷🏻♂️ Just trying to bring some consistency and accuracy where I can hope that helped 👍🏼
@@EDChero Guy is making a big deal over nothing. I’m in the Medical Field too and for food prep gloves i’m an XL, mechanic gloves i’m a medium and examination/medical gloves im a Large. Some types of gloves are interchangeable but in my experience, there is a difference between them with most brands. With any brand of exam gloves though, i’m a large. Keep the specificity in my man.
@@EDChero bro don’t worry about him that’s a weird critique to have I didn’t even notice it
