Happy Birthday mate! great to see you have so much passion for one of our iconic natives, I hope it all goes well for you, your larger one should slow down it's growth soon, they have tried to re-plant the Val. beds up here in the river where they breed after the floods, the problem they have found with only small amounts of Val. going back in is they also love the taste of it and they have been eating it before it gets a chance to re-establish, so maybe when you do your big setup try and fully plant it with Val first, it will give them a good start and they will probably love you for it 🙂🎂
Thank you so much Jason! I've absolutely thought about farming and absolute tonne of val but the lungfish eating it is my concern too, especially when its an enclosed space. I think 3 lungfish could destroy the val in a week or so with little chance for it to re-grow. I've been talking to some artificial plant manufacturers, specifically ones that supply to public aquariums to see if I can get thin val like plants made in bulk to try and get the same sort of look!
@@davecox7384 it seems like most of them are exclusively supplying to public aquariums and need a business registration to be able to purchase from. Alsoooo come to like $50 each per plant haha. HOWEVER, I do have some alternatives in the works!
Mate, one day I’ll help you build their big tank, and Jason can get you biotope aquascaped for them! Never thought of keeping lungfish- it would be fascinating to see you do a native community for them
