    Jeff, when you go to heatwrap those pipes, start from the back so the overlaps face backward and catch less dust and water as you are driving forwards

  • @koolkar55
    @koolkar55 5 дней назад +12

    Just take out the front muffler Jeff. The turbo is a natural muffler & it won't be loud.

  • @garethjones2434
    @garethjones2434 5 дней назад +36

    Surprised you didn't just delete one of the mufflers, the turbo is going to reduce the noise massively and would benefit from a less restrictive exhaust.

    • @tonyanderson4774
      @tonyanderson4774 5 дней назад +3

      3 restrictions in a row now in reality, the back 2 very close together. Definitely not a great thing for egts. 100% agree in deleting at least one of the mufflers.

      @Supra_Rankin 5 дней назад +1

      Are you still planning on running the exhaust brake?

    • @whatmakesittick8362
      @whatmakesittick8362 5 дней назад +3

      @@tonyanderson4774yes, single muffler is the way to go. Jeff is going to need all the power he can get going up hills while hauling.
      I’ve had a turbo car with 3” straight pipe and no cats. It was too loud that way so I added a single straight through muffler and it was perfect. Enough noise to keep you happy but not enough to attract police.

    • @DPCTechnology
      @DPCTechnology 5 дней назад

      Pretty easy to delete later, might as well mock it all up at this point then u have both options later..

    • @tonyanderson4774
      @tonyanderson4774 4 дня назад

      @@whatmakesittick8362 yep. Nice straight thru muffler or even chambered muffler from one of the Chinese knock off brands would be way better when loaded. The whole point of fitting a turbo is to increase Hp and torque for towing and then you go and restrict the hell out of the exhaust to stifle performance and light up the egts. It doesn’t makes sense. I’m all for re-using stuff as Jeff has done. It makes good economic sense in most situations, however when you look at the sole purpose of the turbo upgrade, a small cost in getting such a critical area right is infinitely justifiable.

    For marking a pipe square cut, use a piece of old tape measure. It will snap over pipe of any size and quickly be removed and reused. Also heat resistant for use near hot cuts or welded pipe.

    • @richardallen1629
      @richardallen1629 5 дней назад +2

      Not so sure about that. Most trucks (mine included) run a turbo with exhaust brake. What is it about this setup that you are concerned with? Genuinely interested.

    • @johngibson3837
      @johngibson3837 5 дней назад +1

      @@richardallen1629hey Richard I've a mog with similar style exhaust brake (from factory) and it's just after the turbo so I'm also interested in john's reasoning

    • @richardallen1629
      @richardallen1629 4 дня назад

      I'm not being a smartass, I literally just replaced my dead exhaust brake on my own frankentruck (international acco dual cab homemade motorhome with a hino engine) . The replacement brake is off another acco, using the stock hino exhaust and has an adjustable "closed" end stop, so am curious if I should bother changing it. That said, I'm not too worried, it should only come on when accel pedal is low and clutch not depressed, so turbo should be doing very little.

    • @johnkolk1970
      @johnkolk1970 4 дня назад

      @@richardallen1629 the hino engine is a low revving truck engine, the toyota engine is higher revving with higher turbopressure and it was not a turbo engine so higher compressure aswell
