I love those looks from Clare whenever Rob says it reminds him of his time .... thank you for sharing! We are having a bit of a heatwave here in San Diego Ca-US about 5days of 102-110 degrees
Only just getting round to catching up on the watch list, don't know how you guys knock out so much content with all your work on the project at the same time. Been loving the lingering sunshine. Absolutely fab isn't it!? Down to nearly freezing this Friday, then back to 15+ absolutely mad! Fish Thai green curry - beautiful. Another good fish which work nicely would be Whiting, nice and cheap too!
We record a stupid amount of footage weekly, but actually sometimes by doing this the funny bits are caught on camera which is a plus. Whiting would be good, been a while since we caught one, tend to stick to whatever we can spear or rod. The sun has been amazing and I see it's coming back next week 🤞
good morning from sub tropical Queensland, Australia! If you pot up some ginger in a terracotta pot - a biggish one and have it in the warmest suntrap spot in the house, along with a pot of lemongrass, they'll survive your winter and then put them out on stone or concrete ( thermal mass)in a sheltered spot in later spring, you'll be harvesting your own fresh ingredients for your curries. i bought a 100 year old traditional QLDer house 14 years ago- cut it in half and trucked it 250kms to here, reset it on steel stits on the side of a hill and have spent the past 14 years renovating it, and establishing a food forest garden. I'm hidden from the road now, the trees are so big, just a flash of the new tin roof (2 years ago) in the sun as you drive by... it's taken 14 years because as a single mum of 4 on my own it was a mighty job. There's something deeply satisfying as you move about your home and gardens to know you've touched every inch of it. It's a Grand Adventure you've given yourselves- and once past the hard grind of it all, it is the biggest love affair ❤️ Curry- i grow all the ingredients for a curry base be it yellow, red or green- green in the summer- chicken or fish- yellow or red in the winter with lamb or beef.
I love your videos because you are so down to earth. Your humour is wonderful, it shows that life's challenges can be overcome with humour and that serves your sanity. Thanks for being you and for cooking these nice dishes. I love watching how you always improvise which is something a lot of people don't and I think it's the best with cooking 🙂
Rob you can add a little shelf over that outside electrical box. Your bedroom is right there so open the door & there’s a spot to rest your tea 😊 I’m interested to see how bright those outdoor spot lights are because they look very cool but small. We’ll need a night reveal after the electrician visits looks awesome ✌️💚
That was an amazing plaster fix on the Grand Canyon upstairs Clare! 😮😂 Also, that window upstairs near the stairs would look brilliant with a whole bookshelf wall surrounding it, how cool!! As far as your potatoes go, the barn probably gets too damp, I’d keep them in the house in your egg cartons, dry and in a dark cupboard maybe, and the colder the better! ❤ Great job on all the electrical things Rob, you’re nearly done! 😊 Lastly, if your patreon member that you mentioned at the end, Saoirse (I hope I spelled her name correctly!) could you let me know what her RUclips channel is if she has one? I’d love to see her renovation as well!! 😁💚 Love you guys!
Probably a pain for you guys but can you write your recipe down so we can screenshot it…I LOVE all of them!!! Great work guys!! This bit-is my favorite part and I love that you both participate!
Put a strip of plasterboard in thgaps and put a nail in it so you can hold onto the pointed end and make the plasterboard a little bit bigger so you can then hold nail while plastering after it goes off just push the nails in👍❤️
Ah guys!! What a lovely surprise!!! We have learned so much from you guys in the last few months and absolutely love tuning in to each vid for more gardening/ building tips and also ideas for new recipes ! Thank you very much for the well wishes, encouragement and the recent post card!!❤ We hope follow in your forever-home renovation footsteps very soon 🤩 Sorcha & Stu
Drywall the osb for that huge gap in the peak. Think about crown molding! Also instead of sanding the drywall mud between coats. Think about using a sponge. Slightly damp does the same job but no dust.
Don’t knock the spotlight being over the outdoor electrical socket. You’ll be pleased it’s there if you ever have to plug an electrical appliance into it on a dark night. The spotlight will help you see what you are doing. 😊
Just back from West Cork looking at my families old stomping grounds. Very much thinking about doing what you all are doing. Appreciate your postings and straight forwardness.
Rob/Claire - you seem to have a wonderful array of wild ferns outside your bedroom growing on the stone wall. Do you know what the different types are? I'm struggling to find robust species for my shaded garden - Lady Fern is the only one thriving currently. Maybe you could think abt adding these to your on-line shop - either as seedlings or seeds 🤔 ......
I hope you guys plan on plan on Putting a finish on that larch Would around your kitchen. If you let that go gray, it's not gonna look that great. And I know larch can last a long time also. But a finish on that larch would bring out all the grain and keep it looking nice. To be nothing worse than seeing beautiful wood on the outside of a building, just graying, it makes everything look so run down to me. I know you got a lot to do, but don't let it wait too long Because hopefully you plan on doing it.
Oh you know it cuts both ways. Basically we had already bought all of the plasterboard and the plaster previously and didn't want to buy more so when we realized that we were running low on plasterboard, we made the conscious decision to make do, even if this meant there was more plastering to do than normal 🙂
Is it just me or are those tiles in the bathroom not following the pattern? They llok to be about inch off the pattern? Or am I imagining a pattern lol
Looks amazing, personally I wouldn't bother with the beading around the beams, I'd just caulk the join cleanly and paint it, keeping it rustic and simple, t'would look much cleaner...with beading...where do you stop?
I hope the result of the electrical is more detailed than the sheet rock installation. I'm sorry, but he left you with a monumental amount of mudding to do, and I feel badly for you. It's a huge and tedious task. My apologies, because I never say anything negative and don't intend to offend, but I've been seeing those poorly measured, gaping holes for weeks, knowing what you'd be facing. I'm sure you'll do a great job, Claire...just wish it hadn't been so difficult.
The reason you don’t see Pollock in fish mongers is because it is no longer considered sustainable with the result that EU fishermen have a zero quota and are only allowed to catch a very small amount as a bi catch in other fisheries.
People in Ireland don't like it historically and it has never been a staple of fishmongers. It is sustainable in that it is one of the fastest growing fish to reach maturity compared to anything else in Irish waters. But don't get me started on fishing boties and their (mis)management of our oceans 🥴
Don't know of its been mentioned , and no hate...but ..... plaster boards need to be plastered over. They are not strong , they will dent and damage easily and they absorb any paint you put on. You really need to skim plaster over the entire board not just were the edges of the boards meet. Those joints will crack and pop in no time and you will end up having to have all your walls done again .

Aww thanks a mill :)
I think it was a amazing mistake your outside lighting shone on the plug outlet, now you can plug and unplug things in the dark 👍
Hahah, great point 😉👌
I thought the same lol😂

You are done woman for one woman with your achievements, wow. I will definitely have a go at the ginger and lemongrass, thank you for the tips 😊
Great demonstration of prepping and making the green chili Claire. Best to you both. M.
Thanks, we look curry!
I love watching both of you interact while cooking and also while you work on your home building projects ❤️
Ahh lovely to hear, thanks so much!

I hope so too!

Great idea!! But robs are a mix up of whatever is available... Don't think he even remembers himself!
Well done ... amazing work ... a long slog... but every day closer to an easier time ...
Absolutely 🙂
Great progress with the lights and the plastering. The green curry looks great!

So much progress again, it’s a lot of finishing touches and getting the place just right! Great to watch

💯 go for it!!
Nearly there guys! I love the larch, it's a lovely nod back to the original tin sheds
Ahh thankyou yes, we loved the red tin roofs when we first arrived😊

Hadn't really thought about it... Must look into it for you. Great idea!
❤🎉 Spectacular 🎉
😁
I think this episode has the most side eye/eye rolls from Clare to Rob 😂😂
Very true 🤣
I would love the Thai green curry without the chilli , but tbh , I'd prefer Bacon n cabbage with soapy spuds
Sounds great! This will have to good on the list 🙂
I like pollock. I like bass too, but it's got so many bones in it!
We love both. But wait till you nee next week's... Bream to die for!

You know we actually don't. There's a lot of natural trees around so we want a natural finish. We like the idea of grey but we'll keep an eye on it 👌🥰
Ooh tks guys ,, I luv fish 🐠 🐟 also ,, ps Tove is pronounced tova n it’s a female name ❤😂🎉great work guys
Oh my so sorry, I should have checked! It's a lovely name either way 🥰
He who leaves massive gaps when plaster-boarding has no right to complain if the long-suffering plasterer needs a bit of repairing done!
Oh you know it cuts both ways. You are correct, well spotted. Yes they were put up and then we realized 🤣
@@WestCorkWander it doesn't look bad as it is ❤️

Very true, either way this may be added to the snag list depending on how I feel once I start my son's room 😂

It's a challenge but look all a learning experience. We can't be good at everything 🤣
