Planet Coaster Logan her videos have been declining in views and relevancy since she started cleaning her house for content. the decline in her channel is directly tied to the fact that her audience has outgrown her and her regular content just isn’t as good anymore. she’s upset because the goal was to launch her youtube fame into a music career, but her youtube relevancy is dying, which is affecting her music the same way. I haven’t watched a gabbie hanna video in years (used to be a fan) but i definitely watch those drama channels because they’re far more interesting. THAT’S why they’re more recommended.
Planet Coaster Logan what i saw was her channel and that ‘latest from...’ at the top that you scroll through horizontally, then drama videos. the same happened when i searched her up. and guess what, it happened with all of the other problematic youtubers i searched. they first show the original person you searched, then videos related to them that the algorithm thinks you will click on because ultimately, that’s the goal. to garner views and therefore money. i agree with the other commenter, it was at least 90% a gabbie hanna issue. i used to be a fan and actually liked some of her earlier music but then she switched from actually kinda entertaining content to the ‘CLEANING MY LAMPSHADES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 100 YEARS’ thing which was ok at first but it became basically every video she uploaded and i would just ignore them when they came up in my sub box. and when she moved to her new house i thought there’s no way she could continue that crap ‘content’ so she’ll go back to being good but then she cleaned her vents 😐 idk what she’s doing nowadays other than dressing up as dead girls and attacking youtube for things that are her own fault to garner attention for her new music. and you can’t call it ‘fake drama’ when it was all very real, except i know the ‘hanging out with curtis leprechaun’ thing is kinda up for debate rn but also the only time i ever see evidence in gabbie’s favour is when it’s a stan account so idk but the kenza cosmetics, dressing up as the e girl who died and at least part of the jessi smiles thing are real.
What frustrated me about Gabbie’s livestream was that she constantly referred to the claims made against her as “slander/defamation.” Jessi claimed Gabbie shared private information over dms with a fan (with proof). Trisha claimed Gabbie told Jason she had herpes. Gabbie admitted that both of those things happened and gave her side of the story. Where’s the slander?
By using "slander/defamation," it's Gabbie's way of subtly discrediting the people who have criticized her and maybe even hinting at possible litigation should they continue "slandering/defaming" her. But, truth is she either doesn't know what those words mean or she doesn't care because she wants to paint herself as a victim. Regardless, no one is committing slander/defamation against her.
Saying what happened and manipulating the story to make what happened a totally different scenario are VERY different things. There is stating a fact and then there is slander. The screenshots of her talking to a fan speak for themselves and yet there were 2 very different stories about them. Jessie keptnsaying “oh the fan was defending her but I promise she feels differently now” she was a kid who wanted her name in a video, she most likely would have said whatever to whoever was gonna publish her. You can’t confirm that. But a receipt is a receipt in its purest form
Didn't she referred to the fact that they were calling her "rapist apologist" and accusing her for exploiting the death of a young girl (which were proved to be lies)? Because in her livestreams she was very clear about how that upset her and hurt her.

Gabbie Hanna is the living embodiment of the saying "accountability feels like an attack when you're not ready to acknowledge your behavior". You're not the only youtuber who deals with drama, Gabbie. You haven't been shadowbanned, you're just no longer as relevant as you were when you started making your music. All she does is "explain" her side and tries to manipulate the situation in her favor. At no point does she ever acknowledge that she did anything wrong. "I'm sorry you felt that way," does NOT cut it. When commentary channels point that out, they aren't trying to ruin her, they're just trying to hold her accountable.
I'm just going to say it and this might be a hot take but... Gabbie thinks she's bigger than she actually is. She forgot that when you're a rising artist, it will be difficult. She crying about her music not doing well will only hurt her more. People don't life famous people complaining about how hard it is. You said correctly, people didn't subscribe for her music and sadly she has mismanaged the drama she has been involved and to throw a song called Special might have made some people roll eyes. Also, thanks to the whole Monster thing, she lost credibility. Now, being involve in the music industry... Special is a good song but ironically... it doesn't have anything special about it. It is a generic pop/mellow song. Right now to attract the music community you need to bring something new to the table. The big names are so settled, you truly need to pull a Billie Eilish, who's music really crashed with the trends and she was so different to Ariana Grande or Taylor Swift, you know, the big names. Same can be said about Lil Nass X or Lizzo. They brought something new. Their individuality, their looks, their sound. And it was refreshing. Gabbie needs a reality check and keep pushing her music. She needs to keep making songs and make it constant. That's the only way. She is trying to break through her RUclips persona, she needs to do it fully.
Good points. I also think there is something to be said about the fact that she doesn't seem to think that she needs to continue working on her craft which is crucial if she wants to make it as a musician. I'm a writer and I'm not doing so hot with writing right now because I haven't been putting in as much work as I should. It's no one's fault but my own (and life being hard rn with the pandemic). I think a lot of the great musicians and artists of our time are successful because they commit themselves to their craft; Gabbie does not. She complains about not being successful but she's not digging deep in her music, showing vulnerability, or experimenting creatively. So she just gets lost in the mix.
Actually the reason why she is “crying” is not because of her music. If you look at her videos she says it’s a way she expresses herself instead of story times like she used to. She realized that it’s not mature at least for herself and her age to be venting her feelings like that and not saying to much. now she expresses her feelings in a more professional way. She said RUclips is not really her thing anymore but is doing it for her fans and music. The reason why she is upset is because of all the things that’s have happened to her with the drama. But something new is RUclips is shadow banding her because of the drama. She is “crying” ( more like done with) over the fact that how awful RUclips is treating her and how there taking the views and likes she is getting and people who did subscribe to her are now not. She is also “crying” about how sick she is with all the hate for NO reason at all. She as a video of evidence for all that drama on her channel. She just wants her music heard so other people can relate to it. @@micky9988 As far as I checked, Gabbie Hanna does appear when you search for her name. She has been actively losing subscribers, and youtube pushes channels that are growing and pulling more views. Also, Kavos is not my cup of tea but he made a good point... in a lot of her own videos, she forgot to tag her own name. Which can also explain. Gabbie might be done with the drama, but she had never apologized... she apologized right before her new releases which doesn't look genuine, and while she explained her side of things, it wasn't much of an apologize because in her eyes, she has done nothing wrong and to the eyes of many she has. It's as simple as saying "i did this wrong. I'm sorry, I mismanaged this and that." It's easy really. My mom has a saying that goes "don't do good things that look wrong." It wasn't my intention and it came out wrong and I apologize to Trisha for that. I truly came from a good place." "Everyone wanted to make a video about it" she's not the only one who people talk about. If you do something bad at the eyes of the public, drama channels will talk about it. She addressed everything way too late just because her music was coming out, and she has never admitted her wrong doings and suddenly in her song she talks about people dragging her name... like yeah, some people has but she's not a saint and she has never admitted she has done things wrong. A genuine apology could have saved her all this drama. Look at Pewdiepie... he was cancelled and kicked out of RUclips program, and thanks to his genuine apology and showing he changed, he was back into people's good faith. Simple. People has done much worse than her but they had acknowledge it and apologize in it's due time. Gabbie hasn't and people are tired of that. She IS entitled because her video should've been at least 1M views... that is entitlement. In 6 months her videos had been in the trending list, not number 1 but she has been there. She's crying because her video should have been in the top 10 of trending... she's not been a big youtube for ages now. Alyssa Moss so true. Her fans grew up and aren’t interested in her anymore and she’s not gracefully understanding that. She should take the time that she’s spending being so negative and complaining and use it to work on becoming a better musician and learning and trying to hone the craft. I thought about why I would be more likely to click a "Product Fails" video than a "Best Makeup of 2019" type video. Criticism gives creators the opportunity to speak in a more entertaining fashion, but it's more than that. "Best" videos are often sponsored. Creators say things like "this product is glorious and divine" endlessly without being specific, and the price points are ridiculous. You love your $150 face wash? Groundbreaking! I don't want to be tempted to buy it. Critical videos tend to be funnier, the price points of products mentioned as good substitutes are lower, and the language is less vapid generally. Creators also seem to put more work into those videos because they don't want to be jumped on for criticizing the wrong product, so they grow circumspect, which is an attractive quality. I don't think audiences look at two videos of identical quality and prefer the negative one. The negative videos are often better.
This is what I don’t watch big channels anymore. When they post favorites videos, I know they’re telling the truth because they actually like it and bought it.
Also, favorites videos can be way more alienating than fails. If someone is telling you to buy a $150 product and you know I you’ll never be able to afford that and you feel pressured to buy, it can make the content creator feel like they are not relevant to yo ur life and do not understand your struggles/financial limitations. Plus, I feel like I’m more likely to trust a negative review than a positive one. I’ve bought products because of positive reviews MANY times and felt disappointed when those products sucked or were far less stellar than the influencer made them out to be. But a negative review helps me avoid products that are overhyped and helps me feel less bad if I avoided a hyped product due to price. Negative reviews just feel way more accessible and down to earth than most of the positive review videos I watch.
It's not surprising that she gets that angry. Her RUclips career was built on that anger. All of her most popular story-time videos were the ones where she got super angry. It's not really something you can fake. I don't really see it as unstable, moreso as falling back on her default coping mechanism that she used to survive her angstier days.
After everything came out I stopped watching her and I’m sure lots of people did. She’s not being shadow banned, people are just done with her. It’s like Onision claiming he’s been shadow banned for the last couple years. No dude, people stopped liking you.
side note, her music is not awful, but no one really watches youtubers for their music. Even if i watch her music video once, I'm never going back to it cause it's not what I signed up for.
The other thing with the "taylor swift effect" is that the music still needs to be good regardless of whether or not someone is a fan. Yes taylor swift's music has easter eggs and references to her older works/personal life, but no one needs to understand the references in order to enjoy the songs as songs. You don't need to know that her and Joe have been dating for 3 years to enjoy the song lover, but knowing that can make the music seem more playful. It's the same with twenty one pilots. Sure you can get super involved with the different worlds and mysteries they invent for each album, but the albums are also solid bodies of work if you don't know that they're concept albums. It takes a lot of time and skill to properly use the taylor swift effect, and if you're just starting out (as gabbie is), then it will likely fall flat to most people.

She's now claiming everything Jessi said was a lie, she follows stan accounts that are calling Dustin and Nick homophobic slurs, and she accused Dustin of using his sister that passed away for sympathy and attacking him for it. EDIT: The accounts were also gay men who have since apologized

Sorry about my formatting. 1) I unsubscribed, and her new music video was still included in my suggestions. 2) She has not been shadow banned. It may be possible that RUclips isn't promoting her like it used to, but I don't think they are necessarily actively suppressing her content. 3) She still has a lot of room for personal growth. She doesn't seem to take responsibility for her actions, and she seems to have a "victim mentality". 4) She doesn't seem to be self aware. She's almost constantly involved in drama BECAUSE OF HER BEHAVIORS AND TREATMENT OF OTHERS.

Gabbie Hanna has done things I would never let someone in my life get away with, never apologizes and expects to continue to profit off of it. I think her actions are showing up in her stats and instead of growing up she’s pushing a new conspiracy theory. I’d much rather watch a tea video than give her views. To me, a sincere apology isn’t concerned with backlash. It expresses regret. To me, it’s even worse that gabbie is a public figure. She’s hurting her audience by severely misunderstanding what their problem with her is....they want her to take accountability and actually listen to them and not the people who might be harassing her. I’m not really a fan but it upsets me to see someone get away with such bad behavior.

The thing is, the unsubscribe thing happens to lots of creators. Samantha March has talked about it. Mikey (Glam & Gore) has talked about it. Can we all just admit that youtubers dont have a very long shelf life? Its strange that ppl still dont understand that and have melt downs and blame everyone under the sun for their channel organically losing subs and becoming less popular over time. I dont think it means you should just give up. But dont forget that someday it's going to happen and you will go back to having a smaller more hard core audience. Melting down may give you a small bump in popularity in the moment, but it's a bad path to go down in the long run
As someone who used to watch her videos, can objectively say I enjoy some of her music, and even some of her content, I also can’t bring myself to support her anymore. She feels disingenuous, and the constant blame game instead of just owning up to her mistakes doesn’t sit right with me. We all make mistakes, the difference is she looks to defend herself instead of just doing better. Your points were all really well made and I wholeheartedly agree!

I'm sorry but Gabby's music would not do as well if she didn't have a pre-existing fan base, her fan base skews the numbers so much. none of her projects outside of RUclips would do well if she had not had the RUclips fan base that allowed her to go outside of making just RUclips stuff
But what does that matter? Her fans should be the ones primarily enjoying her music. I don’t see the point in bringing this up because it makes it seem like it’s a bad thing that the consumers of her work are predominately her...fans. As it should be. I don’t think her intention is to become a mainstream artist and completely abandon her RUclips platform so if it works for her, it works.

I think people in her circle truly need to be more honest with her. I can’t imagine being in any creators position where you feel like you’re being wronged and everyone around you telling you that you are and that it would be absolutely insane to think otherwise. I often think about the people around creators and how much that has an influence on things. I feel like no one talks about it either.

I totally agree with you that I don't think she realises what she's doing, the thing that struck me most is that she overshadowed her own music video release with her drama, then complained that agents weren't associating with her because of drama? makes no sense to me at all. loved the video and the makeup and completely agree with what you're saying!
I agree. I also think her problem has a (somewhat) simple solution. She hasn’t rebranded herself and remain consistent with her new “thing”. All youtubers have their genre of videos that people subscribe for and it’s clear she doesn’t know what she wants to be. Or she does know and doesn’t want to put in more of the work. I don’t think it’s drama or cancel culture causing this. Worse youtubers (unfortunately) have come out on the top. I think people are simply uninterested and moving on to the next thing.

For others it was XYZ. honestly imo the views are not the same not because of YT but because we are simply done with excuses and "water under the bridge" when nothing has been addressed, ACTUAL constructive criticism has not been listened to and fans have been insulted for her actions. Plus, she seems like she's taken on this mean girl persona that I think alienates some of her more mature fans and makes them think that she's not a very nice person. No one wants to support a person that they think is immature and harmful to others (like Jessie Smiles and Trisha Paytas).

Gabbie Hanna just seems to be another influencer in a long line that doesn’t have the business acumen or self-awareness to stay relevant long-term, and I think that’s what happens when you devote your life to a platform that feeds your ego based on more or less 20 edited minutes of footage per week. I love watching RUclips videos, but some of these massive creators become very difficult to tolerate once they reach a certain level of notoriety and subsequently forget what made them interesting and watchable in the first place.
Yes, 100%. Many content creators think they are innovative or extremely talented, but it is not that difficult to make decent content on RUclips if you're willing to put in some time and effort to do so. It's also interesting how entitled some RUclipsrs, like Gabbie Hanna, can be: They want fame and money, but they don't want to put in the work that they put in their earlier videos to continue maintaining their fan bases. I don't watch big-name channels anymore because I find them very unrelatable and trite.
So many youtubers don't realise that being an influencer is essentially a business and they actually need to treat it like a job. I watched a James Welsh video the other week where he said that he started treating his channel like a job and spent a lot more time on it and his channel did a lot better.
When I was subscribed to Gabbie, I did notice I wasn't getting notifications for her videos. But I don't really get notifications for anyone's videos I'm subscribed to. There's maybe two or three creators I'll get notifications for, and even then, it's not every video. I, as someone who has actively searched for 'drama' videos to get information about what's gone on with her scandals in the past (no, not to hate, just trying to 'manage my expectations' and know who I was supporting), also see some videos pop up that don't show her in a positive light when I look up her name. Some. As in most of the content I get served in that search are from one of her two channels. I get served her content on my feed even though I unsubscribed because I used to watch her so much. In fact, I remember feeling like there's not really enough coverage of all the shady crap she did before all the major scandals happened. As much as I enjoyed her old storytimes with all the dramatics and overhyping, when she put out that self-roast and said she was being over-dramatic to distract from her behavior being problematic, she was spot on. I always left feeling like there was major info missing and the need to have the other side of the story. But that is the nature of some storytime RUclipsrs, you want to hear the other side because the way they tell the story is just too 'I'm in the right, this other person is absolute insane.' But the fact that everything and everyone around her is constantly at fault and just coming for her for no reason just reads like a genuine lack of self-awareness. Yes, using her name will boost visibility for 'drama channels' and such. But I guarantee that hashtag is not drawing in the same views as a Jeffree Star or Trisha Paytas. Gabbie's views never recovered after the Kenza thing. She's joked about low views herself for years now, because of lack of consistency or whatever. That now, once again right before something was released, she makes it about how RUclips is against her and drives all of these people to specifically search for her latest music video to see what's up is tactical. RUclips is the second largest search engine after Google, you drive people to specifically search for you, you're driving traffic and exposure and boosting your own ranking. She said RUclips is where her music and content is performing the worst, so how do you fix that? Create a reason for people to search specifically for you. I work in digital marketing as a content developer, (granted, my content is written, but it's the same shit) this is who this works.
So, I'm not going to deny the fact that Gabbie isn't as popular as some you tubers, but when I was on her live I was literally unsubscribed without me doing anything. When I tried to put that comment in the chat my comment was deleted. Also, Gabbie was getting the likes and comments that should have been significant to the algorithm but she was not getting the views.

She says RUclips started shadow-banning her after Jessi uploaded her video. What I think happened: a large number of people stopped supporting Gabbie after that video, hence her views dropping, hence RUclips not recommending her vids anymore. It’s not RUclips’s fault. She needs to get back up, start creating GOOD content again, and gain fans/subs back. Instead of playing the victim. It’s so exhausting to listen to her at this point that I unfollowed her on Twitter and I never unfollow anybody on Twitter.

I have been watching Gabbie and how she handles things. I think she is trying to get her audience to watch-watch-watch to make up for the perceived hate-hate-hate she thinks she gets. It is more about getting your fans to rewatch to support than to get people who dislike her for being a drama queen and professional victim to watch. I also think she thinks she has more stans than she does, because her stans spam from multiple accounts.

I was a HUGE fan of Gabbie's a few years ago. I slowly fell off the Gabbie wagon just because I got disinterested and grew out of her content. I'm really happy that I had pulled away from her naturally because I think if I was a fan of hers when 💩 hit the fan it would have really hurt and shocked me. No one made me quit supporting her. I just realized that a lack of self-awareness + forced adult themes + childlike tantrums is only entertaining for so long before her content becomes a net drain for her viewers. I liked that she was open about mental health but now I recognize that there are so many creators out there making content opening up discussions about anxiety/depression/etc. WITHOUT having to pad their views with toxic stuffing.

Planet Coaster Logan her videos have been declining in views and relevancy since she started cleaning her house for content. the decline in her channel is directly tied to the fact that her audience has outgrown her and her regular content just isn’t as good anymore. she’s upset because the goal was to launch her youtube fame into a music career, but her youtube relevancy is dying, which is affecting her music the same way. I haven’t watched a gabbie hanna video in years (used to be a fan) but i definitely watch those drama channels because they’re far more interesting. THAT’S why they’re more recommended.

what i saw was her channel and that ‘latest from...’ at the top that you scroll through horizontally, then drama videos. the same happened when i searched her up. and guess what, it happened with all of the other problematic youtubers i searched. they first show the original person you searched, then videos related to them that the algorithm thinks you will click on because ultimately, that’s the goal. to garner views and therefore money.
i agree with the other commenter, it was at least 90% a gabbie hanna issue. i used to be a fan and actually liked some of her earlier music but then she switched from actually kinda entertaining content to the ‘CLEANING MY LAMPSHADES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 100 YEARS’ thing which was ok at first but it became basically every video she uploaded and i would just ignore them when they came up in my sub box. and when she moved to her new house i thought there’s no way she could continue that crap ‘content’ so she’ll go back to being good but then she cleaned her vents 😐

What frustrated me about Gabbie’s livestream was that she constantly referred to the claims made against her as “slander/defamation.” Jessi claimed Gabbie shared private information over dms with a fan (with proof). Trisha claimed Gabbie told Jason she had herpes. Gabbie admitted that both of those things happened and gave her side of the story. Where’s the slander?
She definitely thinks anything bad said about you == slander/defamation without realizing, hey, it isn't slander if you did the thing!
By using "slander/defamation," it's Gabbie's way of subtly discrediting the people who have criticized her and maybe even hinting at possible litigation should they continue "slandering/defaming" her. But, truth is she either doesn't know what those words mean or she doesn't care because she wants to paint herself as a victim. Regardless, no one is committing slander/defamation against her.
Saying what happened and manipulating the story to make what happened a totally different scenario are VERY different things. There is stating a fact and then there is slander. The screenshots of her talking to a fan speak for themselves and yet there were 2 very different stories about them. Jessie keptnsaying “oh the fan was defending her but I promise she feels differently now” she was a kid who wanted her name in a video, she most likely would have said whatever to whoever was gonna publish her. You can’t confirm that. But a receipt is a receipt in its purest form

Same can be said about Lil Nass X or Lizzo. They brought something new. Their individuality, their looks, their sound. And it was refreshing. Gabbie needs a reality check and keep pushing her music. She needs to keep making songs and make it constant. That's the only way. She is trying to break through her RUclips persona, she needs to do it fully.
Good points. I also think there is something to be said about the fact that she doesn't seem to think that she needs to continue working on her craft which is crucial if she wants to make it as a musician. I'm a writer and I'm not doing so hot with writing right now because I haven't been putting in as much work as I should. It's no one's fault but my own (and life being hard rn with the pandemic). I think a lot of the great musicians and artists of our time are successful because they commit themselves to their craft; Gabbie does not. She complains about not being successful but she's not digging deep in her music, showing vulnerability, or experimenting creatively. So she just gets lost in the mix.
Actually the reason why she is “crying” is not because of her music. If you look at her videos she says it’s a way she expresses herself instead of story times like she used to. She realized that it’s not mature at least for herself and her age to be venting her feelings like that and not saying to much. now she expresses her feelings in a more professional way. She said RUclips is not really her thing anymore but is doing it for her fans and music. The reason why she is upset is because of all the things that’s have happened to her with the drama. But something new is RUclips is shadow banding her because of the drama. She is “crying” ( more like done with) over the fact that how awful RUclips is treating her and how there taking the views and likes she is getting and people who did subscribe to her are now not. She is also “crying” about how sick she is with all the hate for NO reason at all. She as a video of evidence for all that drama on her channel. She just wants her music heard so other people can relate to it. So far I have not seen her talk about wanting to be all that she just wants RUclips to have her videos in peoples recommendations like she used to just like all the other RUclipsrs in other peoples recommendations. Also if this was happening to you, you would be over it. Again she is only “crying” for help to RUclips but they do nothing about it. I saw a lot of people say they related to her song special and who ever rolls there eyes needs a reality check not Gabbie. Gabbie needs to get out of this mess along with the other people that are playing victim so this can be over and of course when people ask for answers and she does not answer (because she does not drag herself into drama) she is “hiding” something but when she does say things about it she is playing “victim”. All the people she had drama with blocked her for no reason after they had a good conversation she was shocked but she did not black them back and still has there # you can tell that , that’s not something someone who is not hiding something would do. all those people just wanted to make a video about it and who did not make a video out of it until now because everyone was out of control. Gabbie might be done with the drama, but she had never apologized... she apologized right before her new releases which doesn't look genuine, and while she explained her side of things, it wasn't much of an apologize because in her eyes, she has done nothing wrong and to the eyes of many she has. A genuine apology could have saved her all this drama. I thought about why I would be more likely to click a "Product Fails" video than a "Best Makeup of 2019" type video. Criticism gives creators the opportunity to speak in a more entertaining fashion, but it's more than that.
"Best" videos are often sponsored. Creators say things like "this product is glorious and divine" endlessly without being specific, and the price points are ridiculous. You love your $150 face wash? Groundbreaking! I don't want to be tempted to buy it.
Critical videos tend to be funnier, the price points of products mentioned as good substitutes are lower, and the language is less vapid generally. Creators also seem to put more work into those videos because they don't want to be jumped on for criticizing the wrong product, so they grow circumspect, which is an attractive quality.
I don't think audiences look at two videos of identical quality and prefer the negative one. The negative videos are often better.
Also, people don't want to waste their money on things. Fails are more likely to be universal.
This is what I don’t watch big channels anymore. When they post favorites videos, I know they’re telling the truth because they actually like it and bought it.
For me I like to watch fail videos so that if I see a product repeatedly to avoid it
Also, favorites videos can be way more alienating than fails. If someone is telling you to buy a $150 product and you know I you’ll never be able to afford that and you feel pressured to buy, it can make the content creator feel like they are not relevant to yo ur life and do not understand your struggles/financial limitations. Plus, I feel like I’m more likely to trust a negative review than a positive one. I’ve bought products because of positive reviews MANY times and felt disappointed when those products sucked or were far less stellar than the influencer made them out to be. But a negative review helps me avoid products that are overhyped and helps me feel less bad if I avoided a hyped product due to price. Negative reviews just feel way more accessible and down to earth than most of the positive review videos I watch.

The other thing with the "taylor swift effect" is that the music still needs to be good regardless of whether or not someone is a fan. Yes taylor swift's music has easter eggs and references to her older works/personal life, but no one needs to understand the references in order to enjoy the songs as songs. You don't need to know that her and Joe have been dating for 3 years to enjoy the song lover, but knowing that can make the music seem more playful. It's the same with twenty one pilots. Sure you can get super involved with the different worlds and mysteries they invent for each album, but the albums are also solid bodies of work if you don't know that they're concept albums. It takes a lot of time and skill to properly use the taylor swift effect, and if you're just starting out (as gabbie is), then it will likely fall flat to most people.

2) She has not been shadow banned. It may be possible that RUclips isn't promoting her like it used to, but I don't think they are necessarily actively suppressing her content.

Can we all just admit that youtubers dont have a very long shelf life? Its strange that ppl still dont understand that and have melt downs and blame everyone under the sun for their channel organically losing subs and becoming less popular over time. I dont think it means you should just give up. But dont forget that someday it's going to happen and you will go back to having a smaller more hard core audience. Melting down may give you a small bump in popularity in the moment, but it's a bad path to go down in the long run

As someone who used to watch her videos, can objectively say I enjoy some of her music, and even some of her content, I also can’t bring myself to support her anymore. I agree. I also think her problem has a (somewhat) simple solution. She hasn’t rebranded herself and remain consistent with her new “thing”. The fact of the matter is is that gabbie never made a video with the man, never took a picture with him(he took one with her without her consent at a party and she made him delete it), she never supported him privately or publicly, and she has stated she does not and never will and never has supported him after the assault! The second she knew what he had done she stopped her friendship with him, I don’t understand what else she could have done! And what did she even do that would have shown she supported him? Gabbie Hanna just seems to be another influencer in a long line that doesn’t have the business acumen or self-awareness to stay relevant long-term, and I think that’s what happens when you devote your life to a platform that feeds your ego based on more or less 20 edited minutes of footage per week. I love watching RUclips videos, but some of these massive creators become very difficult to tolerate once they reach a certain level of notoriety and subsequently forget what made them interesting and watchable in the first place.

Many content creators think they are innovative or extremely talented, but it is not that difficult to make decent content on RUclips if you're willing to put in some time and effort to do so. It's also interesting how entitled some RUclipsrs, like Gabbie Hanna, can be: They want fame and money, but they don't want to put in the work that they put in their earlier videos to continue maintaining their fan bases. I don't watch big-name channels anymore because I find them very unrelatable and trite.
So many youtubers don't realise that being an influencer is essentially a business and they actually need to treat it like a job. I watched a James Welsh video the other week where he said that he started treating his channel like a job and spent a lot more time on it and his channel did a lot better.
When I was subscribed to Gabbie, I did notice I wasn't getting notifications for her videos. But I don't really get notifications for anyone's videos I'm subscribed to. There's maybe two or three creators I'll get notifications for, and even then, it's not every video. I, as someone who has actively searched for 'drama' videos to get information about what's gone on with her scandals in the past (no, not to hate, just trying to 'manage my expectations' and know who I was supporting), also see some videos pop up that don't show her in a positive light when I look up her name. Some. As in most of the content I get served in that search are from one of her two channels. I get served her content on my feed even though I unsubscribed because I used to watch her so much. In fact, I remember feeling like there's not really enough coverage of all the shady crap she did before all the major scandals happened. As much as I enjoyed her old storytimes with all the dramatics and overhyping, when she put out that self-roast and said she was being over-dramatic to distract from her behavior being problematic, she was spot on. I always left feeling like there was major info missing and the need to have the other side of the story. But that is the nature of some storytime RUclipsrs, you want to hear the other side because the way they tell the story is just too 'I'm in the right, this other person is absolute insane.' But the fact that everything and everyone around her is constantly at fault and just coming for her for no reason just reads like a genuine lack of self-awareness. Yes, using her name will boost visibility for 'drama channels' and such. But I guarantee that hashtag is not drawing in the same views as a Jeffree Star or Trisha Paytas. Gabbie's views never recovered after the Kenza thing. She's joked about low views herself for years now, because of lack of consistency or whatever. That now, once again right before something was released, she makes it about how RUclips is against her and drives all of these people to specifically search for her latest music video to see what's up is tactical. RUclips is the second largest search engine after Google, you drive people to specifically search for you, you're driving traffic and exposure and boosting your own ranking. She said RUclips is where her music and content is performing the worst, so how do you fix that? Create a reason for people to search specifically for you. I work in digital marketing as a content developer, (granted, my content is written, but it's the same shit) this is who this works.
So, I'm not going to deny the fact that Gabbie isn't as popular as some you tubers, but when I was on her live I was literally unsubscribed without me doing anything. When I tried to put that comment in the chat my comment was deleted. Also, Gabbie was getting the likes and comments that should have been significant to the algorithm but she was not getting the views.

I definitely agree with you I think that she took a leaf out of Lana del Rays book and thought it would be smart to say all these accusations and nonfacts to start a discussion and give her free pr for her new music. What I think happened: a large number of people stopped supporting Gabbie after that video, hence her views dropping, hence RUclips not recommending her vids anymore. It’s not RUclips’s fault. She needs to get back up, start creating GOOD content again, and gain fans/subs back. Instead of playing the victim. It’s so exhausting to listen to her at this point that I unfollowed her on Twitter and I never unfollow anybody on Twitter.

I have been watching Gabbie and how she handles things. I think she is trying to get her audience to watch-watch-watch to make up for the perceived hate-hate-hate she thinks she gets. It is more about getting your fans to rewatch to support than to get people who dislike her for being a drama queen and professional victim to watch. I also think she thinks she has more stans than she does, because her stans spam from multiple accounts.
It’s not about wanting to look shitty, it’s about wanting to look like a victim. If you’re a victim, people feel bad for you so they engage in your content or buy your stuff to show support. Being a genuine fan since her first video in, I think it was 2014(?), to 2019 where I realized how toxic and just so far removed from reality she is, it's incredibly upsetting to witness such a harsh downfall, honestly. I was a HUGE fan of Gabbie's a few years ago. I slowly fell off the Gabbie wagon just because I got disinterested and grew out of her content. I'm really happy that I had pulled away from her naturally because I think if I was a fan of hers when 💩 hit the fan it would have really hurt and shocked me. No one made me quit supporting her. I just realized that a lack of self-awareness + forced adult themes + childlike tantrums is only entertaining for so long before her content becomes a net drain for her viewers. I liked that she was open about mental health but now I recognize that there are so many creators out there making content opening up discussions about anxiety/depression/etc. WITHOUT having to pad their views with toxic stuffing.
