Just want to point this out, because I didn't realize this until it was pointed out to me, but Tati never accused James of being a sexual predator or assaulting anyone. She accused him of using his fame to try and trick straight boys into sleeping with him, which would be shitty behavior. But it was the rest of the internet that started using the term 'sexual predator' and everyone throwing their two cents in and getting swept up in the drama that turned it into speculation and accusations of sexual assault.

As someone who has pretty bad anxiety issues, I can't imagine announcing that all the time because it's a pretty sore point to be "too sensitive". Honestly i only saw ryland's eyes lit up about the amount that could be made! Not a fan of any of them, but their followers hyped the whole makeup thing out of this universe. Nobody was forced to buy it. It wasnt advertised as anything else than ordinary makeup. Its just colored powders in a pan (which didnt even look great). But all their followers jumped on it LIKE CRAZY from the second this idea was mentioned a year before it started. WHO in their right mind would pass such an opportunity? Who would honestly decline a multi million dollar deal for a year of on/off work? Shane is not jesus and never claimed to be. This all feels like their following is now crucifying the couple, that they previously prayed to. Whos fault is it in the end?
The part that really really irks me is when Shane says “I missed the part where Jeffrer was baptized” .... really? You were the one who baptized him when you made TWO separate series specifically to do so! I'll be honest, having terrible friends and always forgiving them and being blind to their faults even if everyone is calling them and you on it is pretty typical for people who have a history of being a victim in an unhealthy relationship or having mental health issues. I would know, I've had some unhealthy friends that really fucked me up. This isn't an excuse for him, though. Bad mental health is not an excuse for bad behavior. Shane needs to be called on his continued support of problematic people, and also he needs to talk to a professional about it.

Just like a lot of people, I made him out to be this super friendly guy who wouldn't hurt anyone, but that's far from the truth. His true colors are coming out now and he's just like the rest of them (Trisha, Tana, JS). I definitely think his fan-base is getting older and starting to see through his BS.
All I'm gonna say is that I've always questioned Shane's "naive" act. He's a grown man who can make his own decision yet is still friends with people like Trisha Paytas. You're only as good as the company you keep.
that's a common tactic to see play out on white celebrities as well. White entertainers often get this sort of defending from their fans whenever they do something unacceptable and get excused due to their youth whether they're actually old enough to know better or not. often they ARE old enough to know better but get infantilized anyway because they're somebodies "fave" and its anyone and anything else fault but their own.

Honestly i only saw ryland's eyes lit up about the amount that could be made! Not a fan of any of them, but their followers hyped the whole makeup thing out of this universe. Nobody was forced to buy it. It wasnt advertised as anything else than ordinary makeup. Its just colored powders in a pan (which didnt even look great). But all their followers jumped on it LIKE CRAZY from the second this idea was mentioned a year before it started. WHO in their right mind would pass such an opportunity? Who would honestly decline a multi million dollar deal for a year of on/off work? Shane is not jesus and never claimed to be. This all feels like their following is now crucifying the couple, that they previously prayed to. Whos fault is it in the end?

I'll be honest, having terrible friends and always forgiving them and being blind to their faults even if everyone is calling them and you on it is pretty typical for people who have a history of being a victim in an unhealthy relationship or having mental health issues. I would know, I've had some unhealthy friends that really fucked me up.

If you're going to hold other beauty influencers (like James Charles) to a specific standard, then Jeffree should be held to that standard too. I don't know much about Shane Dawson, so maybe this statement is an accurate reflection of who he is as a person and how he thinks, but watching this video kind of blew my mind. Given how successful he is, I guess I expected something more... thoughtfully composed. I thought it might contain some actual insight into what it is like being in his position as someone with millions of followers who has been navigating a career in new media for more than a decade. I thought he might present an interesting perspective of what it was like partnering up with one of the most drama-prone people on the platform, and using the drama to sell their products. Instead of taking accountability, he essentially took a shit on an entire community of people, many of whom purchased his products (and even promoted them), and then he disappeared. What a turd.

Publicly distancing himself from the “beauty community” makes it easier for him not to feel obligated to make any makeup related content now that the palette launch is over, and if anyone tries to drag him for not making makeup related content after making TONS of money on the palette launch, he can point back at his Twitter post an as excuse.
