Sparring. Theirs nothing like pushing yourself against someone else to get you motivated. Even if you don't wanna spar just doing it with someone else is a huge help. Their were plenty of times when I was doing taekwondo that I didn't feel like going in that day as I used to do it 5-7 hours a day 5 days a week. 2 2 hour sparing sessions amongst those really helped bolster my drive to keep me going
I took your 1000 kick challenge and had an adult martial arts class try it out. We got to around 750 in the 45 minute time period of the class so i'm going to take this one and try it out sometime to see if it works better in the amount of time we have our classes as a good workout/kick stamina training. We'll see who can get to the 500 kick club.
I did the 1,000 kick workout with one of my adult classes. We didn't quite make it to 1,000 because of time, though. This might have to be our next one!
You could use targets if you have someone who can hold them for you, or save up for a little punching bag. Canvas bags are the least expensive but you have to wear some protection on the feet. If none of these are options you could kick the air, or get creative and tape something soft on a tree or something

I wanna get back into it to try and get my abs and kicking ability back to what it was 12 years ago
