- Considering the last time we headed up towards the Hayward and Cable area it was during a polar vortex, we knew we had to make it up there for some warmer temps and much more exploring.
After talking with a new friend of ours Dave Schlabowske AKA "Seeley Dave" we came up with a plan to explore the best Mountain bike bike trails the area had to offer in a short amount of time.
Day 1: Erin Brannon AKA "fruit punch" and myself were joined by our friend Steve Wilcox whom we haven't seen since our Iowa bikepacking trip. Once the team was assembled we set out to the CAMBA trails in the Cable - Seeley area. Here we started with Seeley Pass trail to Flowmama. From Flowmama we hit High Point, the River Pig log ride, gravity cavity, 38 special, and Dirt Candy. The goal was to find the most flow and fun without having to pound out too many miles or climb for hours. With that goal in mind the Seeley - Cable Camba trails were definitely the way to go. We got lots of smiles per mile on this day or riding.
When evening came we rolled over to the Hayward hospital trails which were only a few minutes from our cabin for a nice evening cruise through the Northwoods. This is a perfect night riding spot because you're never too far from the trail head and its not technical at all. Great easy mountain biking option in the Hayward area.
Day 2: We received a text from Dave about a friend of his that had a private trail and asked if we would like to check it out. So naturally we accepted. After meeting up with Dave we picked up his buddy TJ and then drove to Cable to Scott King's compound. Our minds were immediately blown as we arrived on his property. This is no private trail...this is a full on private bike park. Built over the last 5 years Scott's craftsmanship and dedication to perfection was extremely apparent in every feature and line. We spent about 5 hours there and the stoke was high.
After the amazing morning at Scott's house we went to check out more of his work at the Cable Bike Park. If you're in the area take a few laps through this wooded gem and check out one of the nations only concrete pump tracks.

The Hayward, Seeley, and Cable area is full of surprises, good food, and great people. We can't wait to go back and explore more of the CAMBA trails and everything else rad in the Chequamegon national forest. Huge Thanks to Dave, Scott, and TJ for making this an epic weekend.
