  • I was in for a treat on this ride! I had heard great things about CamRock, but had no idea what exactly was in store. These kinds of trails are my favorite when there isn't any steep or super technical terrain around. Tell us your thoughts and let us know where to ride next in the comments below!

    I am the creator of the wood feature at 3:50! Thank you for showing off the Slippery Moose! Love to see it in a video like this

    There's even more features now since you rode there! Cliffs edge got a whale tale and berm at the bottom and outback has some new rollers, berms, doubles, and rock gardens between the 2nd skinny and Greg's Place.

    Definitely my go to system in the area. You did a good job of highlighting a lot of the built features and flow trails. One trails that would have been a ton of fun on that bike is, Cliff Edge. That one is packed full of natural drops, chunks, technical climbs, bench cut sections, and now they have a few new tricky doubles at the end. Glad you had a great time out there on the trails!!!

      Thank you! After I visited I learned of Cliff Edge 😭so bummed I missed it! But an excuse to go back! Possibly very soon!

    I rode all these last month for the first time. Camrock was absolutely the standout system that left me very happy. I hit Camrock, Quarry ridge, Lacross and Proving Grounds and IPP on that trip.

      CamRock is just SO good. QR had some great features too, but that climb makes you work for them! CamRock just feels so effortless

    Love the skinnies, jumps, and drops!! CamRock and Quarry Ridge have been on my bucket list for a while now. Hopefully I can make it out there next summer. Thanks for showing me the ropes!

    Keith Andre bike park in Carpentersville Illinois. It's free admission. It's small but we'll maintained. Mostly jumps and berms. Wanted to comment on video of you at Fitchburg or Janesville when you said steepest decline you've ridden. There is two spots at This park that are like 20 ft and the other about 15 but so steep I did not hit because I felt uncomfortable hitting it riding solo in case I crashed. Definitely check it out if you are in the Midwest again. Slinger Wisconsin is supposed to begood, and want to check out Chestnut Mountain's farside park in Galena,Il.

      While it has intense features on a couple of trails, it’s rather tame and inviting overall. I highlighted the most challenging / “interesting” aspects. Everything is well designed and there are signs to warn you if anything ahead. There’s also typical Wisconsin XC trail that is lots of fun. I highly recommend a visit!

    How was it riding this big of a bike there? I just bought a spectral and alllll I’ve heard from my LBS is that I made a mistake but it looks like you’re having just as much fun as they think I’ll have on an XC bike

    • @GlobalTrailGuide
      @GlobalTrailGuide  2 года назад +1

      LBSs tend to be salty about direct to consumer brands anyways 🤷‍♂️ your spectral is even a bit better suited for the Midwest than my Clash is, especially if you put a more trail oriented tire on it (I’m a big fan of Maxxis Rekons, at least in the rear). Faster rolling, lighter casing tires can go a long way to make any bike work well in the Midwest. Your spectral was a great choice, enjoy it and be sure to take it to places like Little Switz too 🤘🏼

      @sk8ingrocks10 2 года назад +1

      @@GlobalTrailGuide Thanks for the reply I appreciate it, im pretty new to this and dont know a lot lol. What would you recommend as front tire? Im looking at the DHF right now. Switz is the reason i bought this bike haha, rode there once on a rental and was like yup this is what i want. I was also looking at the vigilante/trail boss have you ever rode them? Not a ton of reviews online about them.

    • @GlobalTrailGuide
      @GlobalTrailGuide  2 года назад

      @@sk8ingrocks10 it all comes down to how you plan to use the bike most often. Assegai/DHF/DHR II are definitely go to tires for the bike park, but they can be slower when pedaling trail. If I lived in the Midwest still, I might consider a dissector up front and a rekon or similar in the rear. Saves on weight and both are fast rolling tires. I would ask some locals to see what they’re riding and what works best for the area.
      I always run an Assegai up front and a dhr ii or dissector in the rear.
      I haven’t tried any tires other than Maxxis as of late. I’ve thought about branching out but it’s hard to abandon what I know works really well.

      The little bike park you're looking at probably on Water St. Follow the service road south to the trails ~1.5mi. Or take Spring St south to parking area #2 or #3... If #2 you just ride across the bridge and the trails start right there. They are well marked.

      There are multiple different entrances to the camrock trails. There’s camrock 1, Camrock 2, Camrock 3, Camrock 1 is by the bike park so you can still get to the trails by the bike park 9:24
