I recommend folks try some gardening. Even if all you have is a balcony or a windowsill, you can grow something! It's so fun to watch plants grow from seed. This is the time of year when a lot of spring flowers and vegetables are sown, so it's the best time to start. You don't need any fancy supplies, just a pot, some compost and some seeds. It's so rewarding to grow your own flowers and gardening is a great mood booster!
Yep, late winter and early spring is all about garden prep. Excercise, sunshine (well, maybe, I live in Oregon), and the magic of watching new shoots appear all in one.
Yesss! Absolutely agree. We’re moving this summer so we haven’t planted anything this year and it completely slipped my mind to include in the video because of it.

The Secret Garden is my ultimate spring book and movie (the one with Maggie Smith). It's definitely on my list for this spring. A good mix of childhood nostalgia and celebrating the joys of nature.
HARD agree!!!! I think the book encapsulates spring down to its DNA-- it all feels like atrophied muscles laboring back to life. The characters come alive as the world around them does, and their strength honestly inspires me to this day. I kind of love this novel more and more as time passes

i used to be so anxious about the passing of time and arrival of new years and seasons because I feel like I'm running out of time and my youth (early 20s lmao) But your videos on romanticizing the seasons helped me so much to look forward to this every year and just bask in the moment. Living life attuned to the seasons is really how it is supposed to be. To not let it pass by but enjoy every moment of it.
I'm not big into romcoms, but one of my favorites is Leap Year, it's about a woman who, based on a Celtic tradition where a woman can propose to a man on leap year, travels to Ireland to surprise her boyfriend. She ends up arriving in a small town and having to get a ride with a surly Irishman. It's really funny and it has beautiful scenery of the Irish countryside, they visit a small farm and some castle ruins.
Oh my goodness! Pushing Daisies is INCREDIBLE! It was/is my absolute favorite and watched every episode in real time way back when it aired! The storyline with Ned and Chuck… the chemistry between all the characters… the art direction and every small detail… it is all just delicious! So the epic Jim Dale (who narrated all of the Harry Potter audiobooks) is the magical narrator in the show! His voice just warms my heart to no end! So wonderful to hear this show was on your list. Hope you enjoy every second of every episode!
LOVVVE Pushing Daisies! Jim Dale also narrated "The Night Circus" in addition to Harry Potter. Speaking of Harry Potter, I just found a podcast called "The Cozy Common Room" where the narrator tells original bedtime stories set in the world of Harry Potter; I have been enjoying the stories.

The queen is back for spring!! 🌷 I also love reading Heidi during spring because of the spring vibes when she moves to the mountains, it used to be my mom’s favourite when she was young 🥰
You are so kind! I also loooove Heidi! I recommend it in another one of my spring videos. The mountains and Heidi’s loveable persoanlity is so perfect for springtime 🥰
A great movie to watch in springtime is This Beautiful Fantastic! Such a sweet, wholesome movie with lots of beautiful garden scenes. It’s about an aspiring writer who works at a library and is scared of going outside. Then she meets her crotchety old neighbor who teaches her how to garden and ultimately helps her unlock her imagination. It used to be on Amazon prime but I’m not sure if it still is. Thank you so much Desi for another lovely video! So excited to make my spring bucket list for this season 💖🌸💐
Thank you so much for watching! 💗 This Beautiful Fantastic is one of my favorite movies to watch during spring! It’s so inspirational and the aesthetic of it is just beautiful to watch 😍
I totally agree!! I also love revisiting the book Entwined by Heather Dixon Wallwork during spring. It’s a retelling of the twelve dancing princesses and is just so enchanting and fun and wholesome, one of my favorite comfort reads. I feel like you would really enjoy it (if you haven’t read it already!) 💕
If you have never seen it I highly recommend a tv show, downtown Abby it's set in the time right after the sinking of the Titanic in old England with the royal family of Lord Grantham.
I got into flying kites last spring and it feeds my inner child with so much joy i even got my nieces and nephews to partake. Picnics by some cherry blossoms and an afternoon at my local lavender farm are on my to do list again this year!
I love these recommendations! Currently rereading the secret garden and I'm not sure who else agrees but I definitely feel like it's an appreciation and a love letter to spring 🌱 also Mona Lisa Smiles, another feel-good tearjerker I recently watched 🥲
You said it so perfectly! The Secret Garden definitely feels like a love letter to spring. It’s especially so good to read right as winter is ending and spring is beginning 👌🏻💗
To get into the spring energy, I’ve been buying flower bouquets and drying them on my walls as decor. I’m 19, and still live with my parents so my room is pretty small, but seeing the dried flowers, or my fresh vase bouquet makes me so happy and feels like I’m surrounded by a fairy garden! I also recommend painting with watercolor; it’s to refreshing and delicate like the flowers. If you aren’t super artsy, try painting five petals to create an overall flower in spring pastels - it’ll lighten your mood! Desi, as always, thank you for your inspiration and positive fairy vibes! Sending you wishful pixie dust and fairytale friends 🐰💐🧚🏻♀️🪿
Funny, I follow three young ladies' channels here on RUclips _(DarlingDesi_ , _TheCottageFairy_ and _Poetry of Slow Life_ ) - and they regularly post at the same time! 😁 Now all of them uploaded fresh spring contents. 😄 Yay, I _simply love_ spring, it is my all-time-favourite season! I'm a truly and hardcore spring enthusiast. 🌳🌳🌳🌼🌼🌼🌸🌸🌸🌹🌹🌹🌷🌷🌷☔☔☔⛅⛅⛅
I'm not sure if you've watched 'Chocolat' starring Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche, but it's my #1 Springtime rewatch every year! Highly recommend it!🌻🍄🌷🌼
The books I know that you would adore are by Elizabeth Peters. They are her Amelia Peabody series of 20 books which involve Egyptology in the early era of archaeology. They have romance, adventure and there is always a murder mystery to be solved. Delightful characters and a wonderful heroine at the center.
I absolutely love Elizabeth Peter's Egyptian books!!!!❤📚 I love that Amelia and Emerson have a son they call Rames.lol... I thought it would be cool to name my son that but nope. My husband wouldn't go along with that.😂
@@Booksncoffee333 how far did you get in the series? I got to book 16. She had such a great imagination. I thought the fact they called their son Ramses was amusing also. So many good villains and great characters. I will finish the series, just had too many other books to read for now.
@@stephanieellenbogen5570I read all 20 of them! I was a huge fan of Egyptian anything. However, the last 3 I don't remember too well. May need to reread them. I also had Amelia Peabody's Egypt: A Compendium. Did you know they even made a paper doll of her?
Ahhhhh I was sitting around WAITING for this one! Refreshing the feed, binge watch your old ones…. So excited for this spring season 🌸🌿🐦🌞 I know you like fall best Desi, but spring is my absolute FaV, it’s all them baby animals😍🐑🐇🐐🐖🐓🫶
Hahaha if you turn on notification then you don’t have to worry about refreshing! But thank you for the excitement and being here so early! I hope you enjoy it! 🫶🏻 Spring closely follows autumn for me! I love it almost as much 🥹
@@DarlingDesi I have notifications on,of course☺️ I just follow too many ppl on here…on every social media platform 🙈 so, I constantly check for you and one other girl on here to make sure I haven’t missed a video EVeR🥰
I've been binge watching all your Spring and Summer content all day while eagerly waiting for this video! Thank you for all your amazing videos. They brighten up my days and encourage me to branch out in my reading, viewing, and activities. You are such a ray of sunshine!
This was so completely charming, and the music (which are some of my favorites!) was the perfect Daffodil on top. 🥰 "The Other Bennet Sister" is SO GOOD!!! Now to go watch your other Spring vlogs! 🌿💐☘
Hi guys, I don’t know if you’ll ever catch this comment but I have to tell you how much I appreciate your videos. They soothe my soul and have become a huge part of my self care. I suffer with anxiety and every time I watch one of your videos, not only do I feel calmer but, I get this huge feeling of comfort. Just THANK YOU so much for putting yourselves out into the world and making my world happier. All the love ❤
Id really recommended The House Witch series. It's a fantasy about a witch who goes to work as a royal cook in a castle cause his powers are all to do with making sure the home is safe and cosy. And he has a cat familiar called Kraken. I've just finished book 2 and it's so good!
Desi, you have inspired me to get back into reading after mothering 4 kids and finally having a little more time for myself. Thank you for your lovely nature and great recommendations. Your passion for all things wholesome is so nice to see in a fast paced world. Keep up the great work, you are now in my top two best You tubers list. ❤❤❤
@@MakeupByDiana529 the other you tuber I follow that I watch every day is not cottagecore, she has a chateu that she has been renovating for quiet some time.
@@MakeupByDiana529If you haven't already, go and view The Cottage Fairy. Her videos and her soul are beautiful. Watch from the beginning to get her whole backstory X
Nationwide movie theaters are showing pride and prejudice in the month of April, it’s the version with Keira Knightley. I know how much you love it, and perhaps it would be a fun date night to celebrate spring.
I'm a Fall/Winter girlie and I tend to get depressed when Spring comes around (mostly because of the state I live in, I'm very landlocked) so you were just the Spring Fairy I needed to come into my life and show me how I can find joy in this season. You are such an inspiration! 🌻😻😻
I also get depressed in Spring, and in Autumn I really come back to life. But Desi has helped me in appreciating every season which has helped so much ❤❤❤
Oh my goodness! You, too? I am an autumn/winter girl at heart. Summer is a total bummer for me and the moment that autumn air whisks into the world, I start to feel so much better. Desi tends to make each season seem magical, though. I enjoy all her content.
Yes! I feel the same way! I’m enjoying these spring videos, but they are so not my vibe! Every recommendation to go outside just makes me start sneezing in anticipation 😅
Still battling my health over here but slowly adding things that make me smile into my life. It was recently mothers day here in the uk and my son got me miniatures and Japanese snacks that was so heart warming. In my bedroom I added panels of floral wallpaper to my wardrobe doors, added window film that creates rainbows when the sun hits it and added some faux flowers to my shelf. And i bought irradescant butterflies for my wall and a wall hanging so that more things can catch the lights and create rainbows
One thing that I love to do every spring as a big fan of LM Montgomery's writing is to read a book of hers that I haven't yet read! I've read all of the Anne of Green Gables books countless times, but there are so many other books of hers that are just as amazing! My recommendation for anyone who has only read the Anne books would be to read the Emily of New Moon books next, or Jane of Lantern Hill, which has the most beautiful descriptions of late spring and summer!
I am BEGGING, on hands and knees for everyone here to watch "The Artful Dodger"!!! I finished it over a month ago and I cannot stop thinking about it. We need to give this show more hype so that it gets renewed for a second season. It's so so wonderful, please everyone go and watch it!!
@@DarlingDesi The recommendation were really helpful! At the end of the vid you said that we can comment our recommendations so an activity I recommend is making a spring wreath on your front door, I make it every year using a wreath base made of wood twigs and add fake flowers and ribbons (or anything that feels right)!
I had a very Desi Inspired day today. I walked slowly under the blooming flower trees while the morning shadows were still quite long and everything was still glowing gold. I opened my windows and watched my lace curtains blow gently in the breeze. I enjoyed sipping my favorite tea from my favorite pink floral teacup and listening to soft instrumental music while I made a peach pie (it's Pi Day today). Then I went to the library for new spring themed reads, which I carried home in my little wicker basket but I had to stop and pick a little bundle of flowers for my dining table.
The movie that feels like spring to me is "Chocolat," starring Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp, Lena Olin, Judi Dench, Alfred Molina, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Leslie Caron. Binoche plays a free-spirited single mother who moves to a small French village in the 1950s. She opens a magical chocolate shop at the beginning of Lent. She battles with the local aristocrat (Molina), who disapproves of her "decadent influence" on "his" town. Spring unfolds as the story progresses. Caution: 100% will make you crave chocolate!
I heartily agree, as far as the music is concerned - the Main Title always transports me to the springtime countryside. 💚 “Passage of Time” from the same film is also a perky springy tune. Sadly haven’t yet seen the film.
!! I'm so happy to see someone talk about the artful dodger. I watched it, absolutely loved it, planned a rewatch for this spring as soon as I was done with it I was so surprised in seeing none was really talking about it or bringing any attention to it.
Another tip: If you want to change something in your own room or house, I would do it in spring. The change in nature makes it easier for you to finally make the change you have long dreamed of, it can be small things, repainting the chair, changing the lamp, finally sewing new curtains...💛 In spring you have more momentum and can also adapt to changes more easily.💛☘🌷
Omg, I literally just went on your profile just to see if there was a new video, then when I went back onto the home your new video popped up saying "1 minute ago"! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Haha I start reading spring books mid winter so I can have some new recommendations for you guys! But I love it because it really gets me ready for spring! 💗
Adding Rosemary and Thyme as a cottagecore-esque show for anyone who likes British murder mysteries! They always have a gardening twist and aren't gory at all, I've found them free on RUclips :)
Oh, I am so jealous that you have strawberry season almost upon you already. In Finland we have to wait for at least 2-3 months unless you want to eat imported stuff which isn't nearly as delicious.
It's not an only spring time show, but I absolutely love Call the Midwife and it has the vibes you're describing in this video. The show just moves through the year, so you experience all the seasons.
I grew up watching all creatures great and small, but the old version (bbc, with Christopher Timothy) and absolutely love it to this day!! I highly recommend! I haven’t gotten around to watch the newer version but I am planning to do so this spring!
I LOVE Edenbrooke, it is beautiful, one of my favorite books, I recommend another book by the same author "Blackmoore" very cute, romantic and sweet ❤❤❤❤
@@DarlingDesi I also recommend reading the Edenbrooke prequel, which tells Philip's story "Heir to Edenbrooke" and shows his first meeting with Marianne from her point of view. I love how their thoughts coincide and how he immediately falls in love with her... You have to read it! I think it only has about 60 pages ❤️🌸
I love spring it always makes me want to rewatch Anne of Green Gables but I never know what else to watch or read so this video is perfect thank you!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh I have so many more recommendations in previous spring start packs and videos! I definitely recommend checking those out if you want more recommendations 🥰🌷✨💗

Thanks for the reminder to get out in the sunshine each morning! 🌤 I love to tap dance in the sunlight (or at least the fresh air) for my exercise every day - and I can take my tap board anywhere and dance in the grass!! 🩰🌷 But I’m a homebody and often forget to get out… So thanks for inspiring me to get out this morning! I’m going to do that right now. 😊
Pushing Daisies is one of my all time favourite shows, I rewatch it at least once a year! I have never seen another show like it, so unique, fun and heart-warming ❤
Have you read Mandy by Julie Andrews Edwards? I feel like you would love it! It’s about an orphan who finds an abandoned cottage and she fixes it up and makes it her own. It’s so good, and who doesn’t love Julie Andrews?!
I LOVE that one! I got it really cheap at a yard sale when I was 10 or so (about 8 years ago) and my sister and I have read it together multiple times! I was going to suggest that one! I loved it before I knew that Julie Andrews wrote it, lol.
I’m so glad I found your channel a couple of months ago! You’re who introduced me to seasonal reading and got me back into reading! Idk how it’s possible for you to make every season feel like a holiday, but you definitely do! Thank you for your videos!
I'm reading a book called The Only Purple House in Town by Ann Aguirre and it's got really cozy vibes! Picture a quirky run down purple house a young woman has just inherited from her great aunt but she's broke and can't pay for all the renovation it needs. So to help pay for all the expenses to do it up, she rents out the rooms to people who are really in need of a room (like her own situation was before getting this house). They form a sweet found family full of misfits from different walks of life and work on the house together, cook meals and look out for each other. Oh and magic is real, so we also have some witches, shapeshifters and fae in the mix! It's a very sweet story - I think its set in autumn but I think it works well for spring too as its very cottage core.
Hi Desi! Happy spring time! =) Thank you so much for all the recommendations and tips. I've seen Pushing Daisies and it's very sweet. For a film I would recommend Calendar Girls with Helen Mirren, Julie Walters, and many others. For me it also has a spring vibe, but it is a drama, and is a bit sad, but it's also funny. Totally recommend if you haven't seen it. Can't wait for you next video, and thank you again! =)
I JUST FINISHED READING COMPLETE TALES OF BEATRIX POTTER'S PETER RABBIT CONTAINS THE TALE OF PETER RABBIT, THE TALE OF BENJAMIN BUNNY, THE TALE OF MR. TOD, AND THE TALE OF THE FLOPSY BUNNIES! A VERY GOOD BOOK! I ENJOYED IT!
I highly recommend Austenland for anyone who hasn't already seen it, it's one of my favourite movies and it's perfect for both spring and summer. It's funny and romantic and makes you just feel happy 🌷🍄
I love this show too. I’m a big Jane Austen fan but I love the fun quirkiness of this show! It’s so good and sweet! I first saw it in the theater and was laughing so often I missed half the show.
I recently re decorated my bedroom with a garden tea party/ Deloris Umbridge floral vibe and I found loads of pretty vintage paintings for my gallery wall. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find many smaller paintings though so I came up with an idea to use floral fabric I already had in my craft supplies (fabric from clothing I no longer wear) and frame it. Great filler in between the larger art work and it was basically free because I used fabric and frames I already owned. The random framed floral fabric gives off a Love Shack Fancy vibe.
Yayyy! Been waiting for this my notes app is open on my phone at the ready to note all the Recs. You always look stunning but your look in the video is just incredible! From the up do, earrings, necklace and the dress just beautiful! Straight out of the regency era.
Thank you so so much 🥹 I remember telling Jared after I finished filming that day that I didn’t feel confident in the way I looked (I think mostly because I’m waiting on an appointment to get my hair dyed again since it’s suuuuper grown out) so you have no idea how much your comment means to me 🫶🏻
Have you read the language of flowers? I got it from a little free library and I WEPT. I had no clue how much it would touch my heart. A perfect spring novel ❤️
I love looking up your book recommendations to find new favorites 😊❤️ Have you ever read Lunch in Paris? Can’t remember the author at the moment, but I feel it goes right along with this spring collection!

Loved that show so much!
I got into flying kites last spring and it feeds my inner child with so much joy i even got my nieces and nephews to partake. Picnics by some cherry blossoms and an afternoon at my local lavender farm are on my to do list again this year!
Flying kites. Thanks for the reminder ❤

Maggie Smith is great in everything, I absolutely love her!
Yes she is a QUEEN! Love everything she is in! 🙌🏻
Oh my gosh! The Wind in the Willows is one of my favorite childhood books and my mother read it to me at night, too. Beautiful book, beautiful memory.
The mid-90s Secret Garden movie is a must cozy Spring movie.
The 90’s secret garden is one of my favorite adaptions! 💗 Definitely deserves the love it gets!
Absolutely! One of my faves
Yes! I came here to comment the same. With its moody beginning I feel like it's perfect for the transition from winter to spring.
Yay, I _simply love_ spring, it is my all-time-favourite season! I'm a truly and hardcore spring enthusiast.
🌳🌳🌳🌼🌼🌼🌸🌸🌸🌹🌹🌹🌷🌷🌷☔☔☔⛅⛅⛅
I’ve been enjoying making crocheted flower book marks for myself and to give to others.
I would love to see that paper doll.

I have read the first House Witch book but I definitely need to continue the series! Thank you for the reminder 🥰🫶🏻

I've found my people! Yeah Desi has helped me appreciate and find joy in all of the seasons even though I naturally prefer fall/winter 💗

Health issues here too..I love the idea of a pretty window cling.
You are sunshine 🌞 thank you for your happy videos

Your videos are truly so beautiful, and totally get me in the mood for spring. From one kindred spirit to another, thank you Desi! 💕🌸🌹
Aww thank you sweet friend!! 🫶🏻💗
I live Jane of lantern hill they made it into a little film. Stunning story x
Love not live
My go-to movie for spring Is THE QUIET MAN fron 1952 ❤
The first crocuses and daffodils bloomed in my new yard of my new house this week! I'm so so so overjoyed by the beauty!
I am BEGGING, on hands and knees for everyone here to watch "The Artful Dodger"!!! I finished it over a month ago and I cannot stop thinking about it. We need to give this show more hype so that it gets renewed for a second season. It's so so wonderful, please everyone go and watch it!!
spring is my favorite season! So glad you posted a spring recommendations video!
It is such an amazing season! I hope you enjoy the recommendations 🫶🏻🥰💕
Little House on the Prairie is an amazing cozy cottagecore show!
One of my favorite springtime/early summer films is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I grew up on that movie
Another tip:
If you want to change something in your own room or house, I would do it in spring.
The change in nature makes it easier for you to finally make the change you have long dreamed of, it can be small things, repainting the chair, changing the lamp, finally sewing new curtains...💛
In spring you have more momentum and can also adapt to changes more easily.💛☘🌷
I've never heard you mention the classic, Pollyanna. I think you would love it!!
Edenbrooke has been one of my favorite books for over 8 years! I love that you talked about it, and I hope more people will read it
I love hearing that!! It definitely deserves all the love! 💗💗💗

Tuck Everlasting feels like spring to me! Heck I may watch it today!

The show just moves through the year, so you experience all the seasons.
yes, i agree. it has “the cozy feeling” 😊. so looking forward to the new season
I grew up watching all creatures great and small, but the old version (bbc, with Christopher Timothy) and absolutely love it to this day!! I highly recommend! I haven’t gotten around to watch the newer version but I am planning to do so this spring!

I also recommend reading the Edenbrooke prequel, which tells Philip's story "Heir to Edenbrooke" and shows his first meeting with Marianne from her point of view. Have you read Mandy by Julie Andrews Edwards? I feel like you would love it! It’s about an orphan who finds an abandoned cottage and she fixes it up and makes it her own. It’s so good, and who doesn’t love Julie Andrews?!
I adore Julie Andrews! Mandy is one of my favorites 🥹 I even recommend it in my cottagecore recommendations video! It’s so good 🥰
I LOVE that one!
Thanks for sharing this - I was wondering about this book when I saw it on Goodreads; it sounds like I would enjoy it.
@@cindyr4918 definitely give it a go! I just finished it and thought it was a lovely story ☺️
I love this show too. I’m a big Jane Austen fan but I love the fun quirkiness of this show! It’s so good and sweet! I first saw it in the theater and was laughing so often I missed half the show.
I'd recommend watching the 1995 version of The Buccaneers. Its wonderful. 🦋
