    Drip cap/edge should go above the top trim. Also, your current drip edge on top does not go across all the way. This was one of routes for moisture and fungus to damage your current and future trim wood.

    The water will hit that wall and trickle behind the top trim board because it is not lapped properly. Caulking doesn’t last forever.

    What kind of wood do I need for outside trim

    Why no drip edge on the top pc? You caulked it only? Looks to me that caulking will hard over time and deteriorate and your going to have the same problem.

    What was the difference please? You said “see if you can notice” and since I’ve never done (much less noticed) the rotting trim on my house, I need some help here :)

    Why u didn’t use self-threaded screws instead of nails?

    • @Outlaw_SEO
      @Outlaw_SEO  4 года назад +1

      You can use either. It comes to your preference. The nails are less brittle and have less chance of snapping. Siding, roofing and framing are usually done with nails, for the speed of application.
      If I was making a shelf or a cabinet, I would go with screws, for a tighter fit.

    That house is not trimmed properly it’s on top of the lap siding the trim goes on first and then the lap siding goes around the trim
