    Watching this made me sick to my stomach. Kirk is an idiot, "Who did Nebraska play in '95?" Nebraska only ran the table in the Big 8 which had HALF OF ITS CONFERENCE in the top 10 at the end of the year. They didn't just beat teams, they destroyed teams. No respect and it makes me sick.

      '95 Nebraska scored 638 points (53.2 per game) while only allowing 174 (14.5 per game). Average margin of victory was 38.6 points, and their lowest margin of victory (Washington State), was 14. Defeated four teams that finished in the top 10 by an average score of 49-18. The team set Division 1-A records by averaging 7.0 yards per carry and also by allowing ZERO quarterback sacks on the season. 27 players from that team played in the NFL.

      Idiots. All of you. Herbstriet was spot on.
      Day 1 of 95 Osborne knew he would face
      5 - 1st year coaches, 4 in the Big 8
      4 - coaches with a losing record at the school they were currently coaching at.
      2- a winning record by at total of 7 games.
      and sure enuf, 8 of those 11 teams ended with 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 5, 5, 5 = 55 losses
      Osborne knew he had a real problem. The only thing he could do was to run up the score and hope for 2 wins in a row when he went bowling. FL would oblige by not showing up. You know like Neb didn't show 2 games later against ASU. ASU 19, Neb 0.

      Neb beat WA State by 14

      WSU had already lost to unranked Pitt by 4
      then after the Neb game
      lost to 6 other teams by
      12, 19, 10, 16, 12, 3
      In other words, a bad team.
      Beat 4 top 10 teams *"by an average score of 49-18"*
      1 was 1st year coach Rick Neuheisel
      1 was Bill Synder. Retired 5-36 against top 10 teams
      1 was Bill Mason who was 33-45 at Kansas prior to 95.
      And the last was Spurrier who has several big time flops on his resume.

    2001 Miami needed a dropped 2-point conversion to beat an 8-4 Virginia Tech team that was hammered 38-7 by Pittsburgh earlier that season.
    Nebraska's closest game was a 14 point victory over Washington State. The closest contest outside of that game was a 23 point win over a Colorado team that finished #4 at the end of the season. In fact, Nebraska beat the #2, #5, #7, and #9 ranked teams as they finished in the final polls.
    Miami played teams ranked #8, #14, #15, #17, and #18.

    There are four words that prevent me from listing the '01 Hurricanes as the best team ever: Boston College, Virginia Tech. Boston College was unranked when they played Miami, but they played strong the whole game. They were inside the Miami goal line trailing 12-7 in the closing seconds of the game and it was only a deflected pass caught for a pick-six that prevented the upset. #24 Virginia Tech had closed the gap to 26-24 late in their game with Miami and had the ball at midfield with a chance to take the lead, and it took another late interception to seal the deal. Because Miami had such close games against lackluster opponents instead of outright dominating them whereas the '71 Huskers, '72 Trojans, '95 Huskers and '05 Longhorns dominated all throughout (except against one or two TOP-10 ranked teams), I cannot list the '01 Hurricanes as the best team ever.

Andre Johnson would have had a field day and that offensive line wouldn’t have given up any sacks to little wistrom. Freeney 10 times the better player than wistrom in college and the pro’s and he was shut dow by mount McKinney. Miami would have had to much speed for them white boys. That team has 8 track athletes running either the 100m, 4x100m or 200m. Miami by 30 over that team easy

    • @jimapplebee6156
      @jimapplebee6156 5 лет назад +1

      Ironic, you saying someone else sounds so stupid. I know you don't like the facts that disprove your opinion, but the 95 Huskers would have beat Miami & it isn't even close. Miami barely held on against 2 mediocre teams, while the closest game Nebraska had was a 21 point lead after the 3Q. The only top 10 team Miami played was Nebraska, but the Huskers played 4 top 10 teams, winning those by an average score of 49-18. Did Miami have better pro talent? Without a doubt, but the Huskers were the far superior team. Anybody with an IQ in the double digits could objectively look at the facts & see that you're clueless about this.

    • @BOSSBOSS-kh3rz
      @BOSSBOSS-kh3rz 5 лет назад

      Jim Applebee they barely beat the Miami hurricanes that had a offense, quarterback, receivers, and no debt on defense. If Miami had a quarterback and the 2001 receivers they would have blown Nebraska out. The 2001 team had better debt than the Nebraska team had. Nebraska wouldn’t have been able to throw anything on them and definitely wouldn’t have been able to run the ball on them a foh dummy. They would have blown Nebraska out. Miami had a oline that didn’t give up more than three sacks on the season. They went up against Osi Umenyiora, Demarcus Ware, and Dwight Freeney. Now don’t make me finish naming all the All Americans they played against. Name some big names in that wack ass conference they played against that year. I can tell you nobody.

    • @jimapplebee6156
      @jimapplebee6156 5 лет назад +1

      Once again, there's a difference between pro talent & a team. Warren Sapp thought there was no way the Huskers would be able to run on them, but guess who was sitting on the sidelines sucking oxygen in the 4th quarter. If they were so good all the way around, why couldn't they dominate a couple of mediocre teams like vaTech & BC? Numbers don't lie. You can play the if they had all day long, but what if our starters needed to play the entire 4th quarter in our games? We were so far ahead, they barely saw the field in the 4th. The indisputable fact is that the only top 10 team Miami played that year was Nebraska, while we played 4 top 10 teams & destroyed them. We didn't need an Ed Reed pick 6 to hold off BC. Miami was more talented, but we were the better team.

    Their '95 team had what might have been the best OL ever, 2 dominant RBs, and an all time option QB. They were averaging over 400 yards rushing per game (Rushing - not passing). How many teams lose when they run for 400 yards? 400 yards passing doesn't mean that much (Look at Texas Tech, Hawaii, etc). But when a team runs over you like that, they can score and control the clock at will.

    For me, the 1995 Huskers were the best. The teams I mentioned previously all had high-powered offenses and outstanding defenses as well as great to excellent special teams, and had 20+ players from those teams eventually going pro. But there are a couple key stats from the 1995 team that largely go unnoticed but separate themselves from the rest. The 1995 team allowed only FIVE punt returns all season for a total of 12 yards (tying an NCAA record) and allowed ZERO sacks the entire season.

      One great player on a team will not beat a team with 21 good players and 1 great player. In 1971 Nebraska outscored opponents 507-104, held 10 of the 13 opponents to single digits or less. Beat teams that finished #2 by 4, finished #3 by 24 and finished #4 by 32 in the national championship game. Your logic is ignorant at best. Your saying that in their prime, Michael Jordan couldn't hang with today's players or Mike Tyson would get thumped by today's fighter. In your reality Bo Jackson would be lucky to even make practice squad. Willis McGahee, Regie Bush and Vince Young are great players and their respective teams were good. If they was to play 10 times for sure Miami, USC and Texas would have wins, but not more then 4 out of 10.

    In my opinion, Top 5 College Football Programs with Elite Tradition.
    1) Nebraska
    1) Miami
    3) Alabama
    4) Michigan
    5) USC
    -Both Nebraska and Miami Dominated 1 Decade of College Football Miami-80's Nebraska-90's
    -Alabama has 15 National Championships, and also had a few elite Coaches throughout the years of the program they deserve to be up there.
    -Michigan also has a rich tradition in their Back Yard with Football, and a lot of Heismans and National Championships they had as well.
    -USC is I would say about the same as Michigan although Michigan I feel has the upper hand.

      They couldn't beat 01 Miami. When 94 Nebraska finally beat the Canes it was because they wore down a thin Miami Dline. Tommie Frazier spent most of the game on the sidelines because they needed some type of passing threat until they got gassed.
      01 Miami had ridiculous depth upfront. They rotated 8 NFL players, most first and second rounders. Vince Wilfork couldn't crack the starting lineup.
      95 Nebraska is the most dominant team I've seen. They simply couldn't beat 01 Miami running the option.

      95 Nebraska was the greatest team of all time. Miami had to pull a pick 6 to beat a mediocre BC team & they beat #14 VT by 2. The only top 10 team they beat was Nebraska in the Rose Bowl. The Huskers won by an average of 38 points (no game close that 14 points) & they played 4 top 10 teams. Just like 95 Florida, 01 Miami had no chance. Quit confusing future pro talent with being a great team. The numbers don't lie.

The closest game was 2 touchdowns and the second closest game was 23 POINTS!! THAT IS PURE DOMINANCE. I saw Miami in 2001 and they were really good. Better than probably 2 or 3 of the teams on my list. (that was a joke list) But they were not in the same category as the '95 Huskers.

    How come when it comes to USC, no one mentions the 1972 USC Trojans? Sure the '04 team was good with Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, and had a lot of talent and so forth. But the '04 team had three games decided by one possession (8 points or less) and only played three ranked teams. The '72 Trojans had all but one game decided by at least THREE possessions (or greater than 16 points) with the closest being a 30-21 win against #15 Stanford and defeated SIX ranked teams that year. As such, I think the '72 team was USC's absolute best team to date and not the '04 team.

    For the people suggesting that '01 Miami (Or any other team) would beat the '95 Nebraska team because of future NFL draft picks, we are talking about college football. It is a different game than the NFL. People are comparing apples and oranges. The Nebraska system of smash mouth football, with the occasional play action pass, was unstoppable. They simply beat teams up. Then the defense took the field, and created havoc. Don't look at how many 5 star recruits Nebraska had.

      Its really hard to compare teams from different eras. The offenses today are so much faster with the spread while the offenses back in the day were more methodical. Plus you could get away with a lot more on defense too.

    • @thatonegamer4937
      @thatonegamer4937 9 лет назад

      Lance LeBlanc That's exactly the point. Teams today would generally be a little faster and stronger than those from 10+ years ago, not to mention the offenses and defenses would have significant differences in style in different eras as well and to find some kind of weighted average to measure and compare the teams from these different eras playing styles is a nigh impossible task. At best you can use stats like strength of schedule, most dominant wins vs close/lackluster wins, average winning margin, offensive yards and defensive yards a game, etc. to measure them and even, different eras and different styles of play factor in there, too.

    • @sunflashjt
      @sunflashjt 10 лет назад +7

      Everyone who +1's Eduardo's comment is exactly like Kirk. First off you can't compare teams from different era's by talent on the team, cause clearly athletes are different now then they were in the 90's and so on. The only way you can compare two teams is by their body of work. So lets compare the 95 Huskers and 01 Miami. Both teams were 12-0. Huskers had 4 victories vs ranked opponents none lower than #10, of those 4 the closest margin of victory was 23 points. Miami had 5 victories vs. ranked opponents, all of which were outside the top ten save for their victory against #4 Nebraska, of those 5 the closest margin of victory was 2 points. No unranked opponent came within 14 points of Nebraska, while Miami nearly lost to BC and VT, BC was not ranked and VT was #14, game saving interception to prevent the loss to the latter. In the end total points scored over the year '95 Huskers 638-174, '01 Miami 512-117. Clearly these are two of the best teams to ever appear in college football, however the '95 Huskers are clearly better than '01 Miami, given that the '95 Huskers had the most lopsided victory in National Championship history. I will conceed that '01 Miami's body of work is more impressive than that of the '71 Huskers, making '01 Miami #2 all time. However there has yet to be a team that could match the awesome power that was 'The Power of Red' in 1995.

    • @eephusker
      @eephusker 10 лет назад +4

      What part of 2001 Miami's body of work was more impressive than 1971 Nebraska?
      Don't tell me first rounders. That is the accomplishment of the individual, not the team.
      Miami was 12-0, while Nebraska was 13-0. Miami out scored opponents 512-117, while Nebraska out scored opponents 507-104. There records and scoring are too close to say one is better than the other.
      Miami did play more ranked opponents. Those opponents finished #8, #14, #15, #18, #19 and #21 in the polls. Nebraska only played 3 ranked opponents, but they finished #2, #3 and #4 in the polls. No teams has ever done what Nebraska did defeating the #2, #3 and #4 teams in the nation. One could argue strength of schedule either way, but the strength of ones schedule truly comes from ones best opponents.
      The one factor that I believe separates these two teams is consistency. Nebraska won 12 of 13 games by 24 or more points. The one game that was close was "The Game of the Century" against #2 Oklahoma. Miami on the other hand won 5 of 12 games by 23 or fewer points. Miami struggled against #18 Virginia Tech and #21 Boston College.
      Miami had a great team in 2001, but they didn't always play like it.

    I am a die hard Nebraska fan and have been watching them faithfully since 1988.
    I have watched more videos and read more articles on them. Many of the latter do not know what they are talking about. Here are my thoughts on the '95 team:
    1. There were games they had trouble moving the ball. The first half against Oklahoma was rough. The Wazzu game was tough to move the ball on them. Colorado relegated NU to a lot of passing. Kansas also played well defensively -'95 Nebraska struggled some
