    As a Gator fan, this team still gives me nightmares. That '95 team was outstanding. The greatest team ever. Keep in mind, this Gator team was no slouch in 1995. They returned nearly all starters from that team and won the National Title the following year... Just makes it even more impressive in my opinion what Nebraska did to them. They beat four Top 10 teams.

      You are absolutely correct. I followed that Florida team very closely that year, and they were kind of a machine themselves. They tore right through the SEC that year, admittedly the SEC back then wasn't like it is now, but it was still a strong conference. Even Peyton Manning's Tennessee team couldn't hang with them, nor could FSU, Georgia, Auburn, or Arkansas. I really thought the Gators would win that game, but early on in the game I could tell they were in big trouble. It was obvious that Nebraska just had too much size, speed, and depth. The people who aren't old enough to remember it have a hard time believing it now, but anybody who saw that Cornhusker team knew they were a machine

    this team is hands down the greatest ever...both lines were just insane, no one stood a chance against them, our line would just dominate them like rag dolls, the backfield with frazier, phillips, and green was just too fast for everyone and should be known as the greatest option team to ever play the game too

    Bama fan here since I was a kid in the 70s, and Bama had some great teams, but this Nebraska team still stands out in my mind as the best college football team I have ever seen. They steamrolled everybody they played. So fast, so strong, and so dominant. A freakin machine.

    From an outsider's perspective(Longhorn fan). That 1995 Husker team was crazy good. Nothing against those Miami teams of a few years go, but you have had to witness those teams from the 90s with Nebraska. They crushed almost everyone during the mid '90s, pretty much most of the '90s. When we beat them in Lincoln in the late '90s, we were ecstatic. It was so difficult just to hang with them, let alone beat them. If you are old enough, you would remember.

    And the Florida team Nebraska dominated for the biggest blowout in title game history was the same team that won the National Championship the following year so that just goes to show how good that squad was. And that is why the 95 Huskers are the best college football team of all time.

    Most dominant teams since 1970 based on closest regular season game:
    5. 1991 Washington 7 pts.
    5. 1992 Alabama 7 pts.
    3. 1972 USC 9 pts.
    *2004 Utah 11 pts (faced zero ranked teams)
    2. 1995 Florida!! 11 pts.
    1. 1995 Nebraska 14 pts.
    Wow!!

    • @robjohnson8861
      @robjohnson8861 3 года назад

      Oh palease.
      Here's what Osborne knew on day 1 of 1995
      He knew would face 11 coaches with the following records at their school
      * 5 were 0-0 because they were 1st year coaches
      * 4 had losing records
      * 2 had winning records by 7 games (5+2)
      Strength of schedule doesn't factor this in. AI will. By 2030, Neb95 will not be in top 10, probably long before.
      Coaches records at the school prior to 95
      OK ST (0-0)
      MSU (0-0)
      CO (0-0)
      Iowa ST (0-0)
      OU (0-0)
      MO (3-8)
      Pac (12-21)
      ASU (15-18)
      KS (33-45)
      WA ST (35-33) +2
      KSU (36-31) +5
      Now you understand why Osborne knew he needed to run up the score. Nobody was gonna believe 95 was legit. Most, that know football, know 95 was a joke.
      And FL didn't show like Neb didn't 2 games later when they couldn't muster 1 point (actually possible).
      #19 ASU 17, #1 Neb 0.

    I agree dude, I think that 1995 Huskers were the best in College football history EVER, but that 2001 canes team was very close. Similar results across the board, EXCEPT nebraska beat some 3 top 10 teams to propel them to a dismantling of Florida, and Miami didn't play anybody in the top 10 til the NC, which they won by 3 touchdowns. I think NU's wins are more impressive than the Canes, but I think both were amazing. I do think NU was better though, and it was voted in their on ESPN too.

  • @PoolPartyPapi
    @PoolPartyPapi 15 лет назад

    Indeed, Nebraska's 1995 schedule was ranked 24th toughest out of 113 Division I teams. To have a steamrolled its opponents the way it did, to have never been challenged beyond halftime by any team in its path, to destroy 4 Top 10 finishers and to humiliate an otherwise remarkable Florida team (much the same one that would win the National Title the following year) is to cast a shadow of greatness that no other team has ever quite stepped out of.
    And I'm betting probably none ever will.

There won't be another team to even come close to matching the athleticism and determination this team had, if so it will be decades before we see it. I mean theres a tramendous amount of talent out there dont get me wrong, but i dont think the players now-a-days could match the mentality, motivation, and determination to carry out their full potential like the '95 team outstandingly demonstrated.

    Nebraska was 6th Nationally in Interceptions with 20. Suh had one. You're right, he was the only good part of our defense, good call. Our offense returns 10 or 11 starters next year. They won't improve at all. The fact that Zac Lee had a torn tendon in his throwing elbow did not affect his play at all, neither did the fact that the offensive line had key injuries throughout the year. The performance we had in the Holiday Bowl against a top 25 defense was no indication of what we could have been.

And Nebraska could beat some teams in the Top 25. By the end of the season you'll see that. I strongly believe that the 95 huskers had the best rushing attack ever by a college team,they stomped over every team they played blowing out everyone on the schedule regardless of how good they were,i don't know much about the Miami 01 team except that they had a great D-fence, but i think the huskers would win cause they had the best O-line ever that didnt allow a sack all year and each running back averaged 5 yards a carry. thats My opinion.

    I havre done extensive research in college football, and this team is the best of all time, VERY, VERY closely followed by the 1971 Nebraska team.
    First of all, they never scored less than 35 points in any game, and never lost any game by fewer than 14 points, That game against Washington State (35-21) came against the best defensive team in the nation that year. The last TD scored by WSU game in garbage time. Florida, Colorado, KSU, and KU - all in the Top 10, NU beat them handily..

    There are four teams that consistently show up in the "best ever" debate. 1971 Nebraska, 1972 USC, 1995 Nebraska and 2001 Miami. There are plausible arguments for each of these great teams. But I happen to find 1995 Nebraska's case to be the most convincing.

    So what's your point? AD's usually agree in principle to get a home/away series with big programs. Small Teams that you have to pay are typically done a year in advance. TO's was more than likely responsible for the OOC opponents. Or is it just a coincidence that his 2nd year as A.D. NU's OOC schedule is filled with MWC and MAC Teams.

    @Huskerfan64, For you.. and everyone else that doesn't know what the hell
    'Scoring Defense' is... Scoring defense simply means how much points the other team scores on your defense.. Not how much points your defense scores..

    Also for other people.. Nebraska finished #2 behind Alabama.. and only off by a few points.. to be exact on how many points.. .2 points behind alabama.

    @BallzinAvice Its called lifting weights good sir. If you didn't know Nebraska has had the best weight facilities in college football pretty much forever. That includes now as we just upgraded yet again thanks to Suh's donation.

    i actually have thought of that in that same perspective with the 04 usc team, except those guys would be 11 years old. It's really damn hard to compare these teams, but they are all great teams and they are qualified as great college teams

    @hokiepower Definitely. Being a different game now it is hard to compare, but with the timing and execution the 95 team had I wouldn't call it absurd to say they could have hung over 40 on Bama this year. I just hope we can get back to that kind of execution soon.

    LMAO! Wisconsin earned my respect, they are a ridiculously underrated team. I just wish we could've drawn a Pac Ten Pansy like NU did.

    @davidallenroth most players used creatine which was completely legal in the NCAA back then.

    Finally, a Husker fan with something more than just blind devotion with something to say. Nice job with the stats. Point taken.
    You listed NU avg PPG, but didn't list PPG Allowed.
    You listed NU avg YPG, but didn't list YPG Allowed.
    So I listed them for you and they prove your wrong.
    UM/NU against Ranked Opp:
    01 UM: 47.2 - 14.4 [MOV - 32.8]
    95 NU: 49.0 - 18.0 [MOV- 31.0]
    YPG Allowed vs Ranked Opp:
    01 UM: 292 ypg, 95 NU: 313.5 ypg

    why thank you very much. i dont know why you said that tho because miami was ranked much lower than nebraska. and actually some sites did rank nebraska in the top 25, while miami hovered somewhere around the 40s. and besides, at the end of 2007 we were ranked in the 60s, and at the beginning of 2008 we were ranked in the mid 40s, so being in the high mid to high 20s in the rankings seems like pretty good progress to me, dont you think?

    8:53 - 9:10 pretty much sums up the dominance of this team

    1) 1995 Nebraska
    The most dominating team in CFB history. They destroyed 4 top ten teams, trailed only for 13 minutes the ENTIRE season an all star defense and 27 future pros, 9 future and current All-Americans. Even when stars where in trouble the team was so deep they rarely missed a step. Ranked number 1 all time by SI, CBS, Sagarin, and multiple other places. In the championship game against the # 2 ranked Florida Gators announcers where dumbstruck at the absolute power this team had."

    Nebraska is #18. Do they teach reading in Florida?
    BTW, impressive defense for the U.

    You're right, Miami hasn't done anything since 2001...... except win 2 conference titles, play for another National Championship, finish in the Top 11 every year after that until 2005. But yeah, I guess you're right.

    We earned our Top 10 ranking and VT earned theirs by beating top quality opposition. Nebraska on the otherhand was gifted theirs, seeing how they haven't beaten anyone in almost a decade. Don't disappear when NU loses 2 of their next 3.
