    I straight up cannot believe I did the original thorn bounty. I was addicted to vanilla D1 but I wasn’t all that much if a skilled or hardcore player but I got that bounty done. It’s literally the only serious Destiny content I completed outside of casually playing crucible and beating the campaigns. As it turned out, I didn’t even like thorn. I deleted to get whatever materials dropped from it and decided to move on with my life. At the end of the very next match I got a random exotic weapon I had never even heard of to randomly drop in the post game screen. That was my introduction to the last word, and the rest is history. I remember all of these. Another one you didn't mention was the self-rezzing Warlock. Warlocks had a perk in their solar subclass that would allow them to revive themselves if they were killed while they had a full super.
    When you self-rezzed, you were a lot tankier than usual for about 30 seconds, and you could spam grenades. If you had the solar grenades equipped with the Exotic gauntlets that gave you an extra grenade, you could cause mayhem in PvP. You'd get suicidal Warlocks rushing a capture point, dying on the point, then waiting for the whole team to congregate on the capture point, only to self rez and wipe the team with grenade spam.
    You could also be a LOT more gung-ho in PvE and take WAY more risks than Hunters or Titans could, because you knew that if you died, you could jump straight back up and retreat while spamming grenades. Self-Rez warlocks were the only ones who could do the 'pushing enemies off the edge' tactic in the Atheon raid by spamming grenades to force bosses backwards off a ledge for an easy win lol.
    Oh yeah, that reminds me, Hunters (in their Arc subclass) could go invisible for long periods too! You could literally build them specifically for invisibility! It allowed them to solo the lamps in the Crota raid with ease (and made them the perfect swordbearers at the final fight against Crota), and also made them clutch in harder activities like Nightfalls. If they were last man standing, they could keep the strike alive and not get everyone kicked back to orbit just by turning invisible, hiding for a bit, then sneaking around reviving everyone.

  • @LeCryx
    @LeCryx 2 года назад +27

    Honestly as a D1 vet there are a few things I prefer in D1 over D2:
    Exotics: these were items that were meant to be super rare but also the best of the best, and in D1 they showed that making them incredibly difficult to obtain but then them also being extremely dominant in all kinds of content, however, in D2 they no longer hold that sparkle of getting them and they don't live up to what an exotic was back in D1 with most of the exotics in D2 being completely irrelevant and unusable in a meta.
    Artifacts: D1 artifacts were just amazing and fun to use, each having their own unique effect and being able to strategise on what artifact to use in which content was honestly amazing, plus being able to mix and match artifacts in a team was also awesome. Now in D2 the "artifact" isn't really an artifact anymore. Its just an item that gives temporary mods and nothing else.
    Activities: D2 has some amazing activities don't get me wrong, however there was always something special about going into places like crotas end, prison of elders, nightfalls and the such with just a fireteam of friends that D2 just doesn't really give anymore.
    Nightfalls: in D1 nightfalls were the end game, anyone could do them as log as they had atleast 1 other person but they were insanely difficult causing players to have to push themselves to their limits. Now in D2 nightfalls are a joke, the only difficult piece of nightfalls are grandmasters, but finding players to so them with (along with the ever rising power cap) has made it so that only a select few who have access to alot of content (able to easily do raids and such) can really do them semi often.
    Factions: these were a fun side thing to do while doing other content. These offered cool rewards, with my favourite being the exotic class items (I really want them to bring these back where each one buffs a subclass for that class but each gives different buffs (kinda like D1 artifacts I guess with their unique buffs))
    Gear: D2 has some good gear, but nothing beats the looks of alot of the d1 gear, looking like you're being taken, corrupted by siva, wearing hive shells and even the exotic gears looked amazing, my favourite being when I was a warlock main with the winged helmet exotic that started health regen when you picked up orbs. It wasn't a good effect, but it looked cool.
    And last but not least:
    Vaulting: D1 had no vaulting, nuff said
    Edit: the helmet was "Light beyond nemesis" and by vaulting I mean the vaulting of content.

    • @JesusMyLordAmen

      it actually did vault content. alot of weapons and armor became unobtainable from dark below and vanilla. the only way to get dark below and vanilla weapons was getting lucky with a legendary engram from dragon strikes. which was nearly impossible but still a chance. then taken king removed those strikes and re-sunsetted all the previous expansions and vanilla, even though house of wolfs literally just un-sunsetted all weapons and armor. because the taken king just had to take literally fucking everything including exotics. literally removed more than it added. still pissed about it. but they did bring back a decent amount of those guns and armor later on though. buts its not even close to the insanity that is destiny 2 removing whole planets, campaigns, activities, weapons, armor, etc. even if some were bad. as dumb as it is removing anything, I'd much rather go the destiny 1 route.

    • @LeCryx
      @LeCryx 2 года назад +1

      @@JoeMama-qt5go ah ok. I didn't know that. Still though the vaulting in D1 compared to D2 is as if there was no vaulting at all. D1 removed a few strikes and as such a few weapons. D2 removed their entire base game plus 2 expansions and parts of forsaken.
      Tbh I'm more pissed at the excuse they gave in a recent interview about the vaulting. They said something along the lines of "we will not be vaulting anything from the beginning of the light and dark saga which we believe is shadowkeep." When I saw that I was like "bruh wtf". The light and dark saga started all the way back in D1 wirh the black garden with each DLC continuing on the story in some capacity or having some knock on effect to the what's happening now.

    I remember the day I got the thorn bounty finally, it was like May 2015 and I had gotten the batch of exotic mentor missives with Super Good Advice twice already, and I finally got Thorn's batch. I got to grinding only to see that 500 void points step, started it, then had to go out to dinner and couldnt say no because I was only 14 at the time, so I spent some time at the restaurant doing some nerd math in my phones notes app to see how many more kills I needed and wrote down what weapons would probably be best to use since it was void damage only for progress. Great times, really miss being a kid.

    I just got back into this game after years of not playing. The last time I played was on my Xbox 360 back in 2018. The first thing I noticed was where did all of the crafting/upgrading materials go and why can't I buy ammo. Also this seasonal thing is weird. I don't like playing a game and losing progress. If I javelin to be forced to commit to a game to avoid the chance of loosing everything at the end of the season then I just won't play at all. Also why are there two types of levels on my armor?

    I remember being pretty new to Destiny when I got the thorn bounty to drop. I sucked at PvP and only had one void weapon so I was struggling with the crucible step until one game... I placed bottom of the leaderboard again, losing all of the little progress I had made. This time, however, I was that one lucky bastard we all hated, and the Hawkmoon dropped for me. I was so overjoyed I deleted the thorn quest and played around with my new gun instead. Needless to say my luck hasn't recovered since
