Police can't say in one breath, it's for the community to get more involved with - when people with untreated mental health "could" be a ticking bomb. Very often, when people are struggling mentally - when you ask them how they are, they'll just reply - OK. That's sadly what this lady does when she's asked. Don't get me wrong, that's not a reason not to ask people - but it's a typical reaction all the same.
Those working in mental care know that enough isn't being done, and the system is failing ppl in their fight against mental health issues. Until more resources are put in, more people will be at risk. The Police have to be safe, and they have to keep the public safe also.

There’s a REASON police show up FIRST! It really depends on how the 911 call went, previous interactions with police, mental health issues, criminal records.
The LAST thing police want to do is to take someone’s life! The fact that there were 3 officers there says a lot about the nature of the call and the threat level.
@@MN-Jim well documented that police over react to mentally unstable or mentally disabled people with force because they didn’t listen. That’s the exact opposite what you need to do. I remember in California like 8 years ago a man was lost and the cops got called out to him. Instead of responding with the proper needs of someone like that they put hands on him dude fought back and beat the officer up and officer shot him cuz he was afraid for his life.

Well, they want to go home to their families too. Threatening police with a weapon WILL get you shot, mental illness or not. It is unfortunate that people put the police in these situations and force them to assist in a suicide. Police are well aware of this happening but they still must respond to the threat accordingly.
