  • The Mystic 29, commonly seen as the Miss Geico 29 burst into flames on me today.
This is the 3rd run on this setup, all seemed fine up until this very moment.
    I was running a Dynamite 6 pole 2000kv & a Flycolor 150 amp esc.
Still not certain what happened, but please leave a comment about what possibly went wrong.

Always unplug the battery before touching the prop!!

Bet money, it had something to do with the modifications you did to the motor wires, if it were my boat I'd cut about an inch or two off those motor wires or it could very well be the voltage probe.. I don't run those voltage probes on any of my boats for this exact reason pain in the azz.. it's a bummer probably lost the receiver esc and servo. You'll get it figured out. BG4L. Great video

This was the 4th run on this setup, the only thing I know is that 1 of the qs8 plugs was really easy to plug in & unplug. Maybe it was a loose connection on one side. I'll test the motor with another cheap esc & see what happens. I opened up the motor and the wires are still solid & separated.

You should name that boat Mission Impossible! Warning this boat will self destruct in 10 seconds!

Faulty plug connection so the black which is common took all the current. The voltage wire designed for mA and had Amps flowing through it and took out ESC. Check solder job on battery plugs and you may find a black not connected properly.

One of those qs8 plugs are kinda loose, easy to pull apart! I believe you may have figured it out!

Mine did the exact same thing last weekend. On the bench was fine, put it in the water barely squeezed the throttle to idle out and POP!!!!! Flycolor ESC are crap!!

I've had this issue once... connected battery (not reversed) throttled up while the car wasnt even on the road and it went up in smoke.. i think it's because of a failure not related to the the Amps, but just internal failure of the ESC.

I’ve seen what a prop does to a finger please disconnect boat when changing them.

Geez, was concerned when I saw you changing prop without turning boat off (unplugging).
Hang on to those fingertips buddy.

Wonder if the voltage probe hard wired to main plug over loaded, I have only used them on balance plug side 🤔

maybe your timing esc, not match to your esc and battery 6s use timing no 5 example, try run about 3 round and cek, all cable wire, if cable to hot, you must change the timing again..

Had bad luck with flycolor, very hit and miss. One may work okay, the next will do what yours did. Had that experience and it's not pleasant lol.

Looks like a direct short causing the capacitors explode I have only has one flycolor 150 burn up that was on a 56 inch long apache running a skateboard botor and a 72 mm prop

Wow that was dramatic blew the lid right off. I had a fly color 150 or 120 anyway it never made it to the water, just quick working, unfortunately I had let the warranty run out before I got around to using it.
It was the ESC that brand is not that well made. Glad you don’t loose your boat and batteries.

The lid was taped on, it blew it right off 😆. I'm just lucky it was on land!

Check the motor the dynamite is notorious for desoldering the motor leads

I could hear it hissing, air trying to escape the taped hatch.

Had a moment to think, ESC has a large capacitor bank, they are like batteries themselves
But there not burned up, yeah open it up 🤔
