Silent hill was filmed in my hometown of Brantford. Funny thing is, all they needed to do was add the fog cuz the downtown district was pretty shitty and rundown. Me and my friends would sneak downtown during our lunch break and watched them film this scene.

Props to the actor who portrayed the Armless Man. He had to wear the full costume where he couldn't hear or see so he was completely blind and the movement director had to get up close to guide him due to the costume making him barely hear anything. On set, the megaphone was enough for him to hear - as for his arms, they were crossed within the costume to make it look like he was armless. Immense credit to the team who made this movie. Phenomenal.

I watched this movie when I was a kid. It completely traumatised me. I had never seen something this disturbing. Idk everything about this movie was so damn distressing. I imagined being there and it was a feeling of sheer hopelessness and terror. I still feel the same every time I think of this movie.

however, she ruin the immersion by stepping towards the creature while shooting it. that is a sign of aggression and courage and a brave move which doesnt suit the horror theme of the movie and is more suited for action movies.

Laurie Holden was the perfect Cybil Benett, although the video game one was physically based on Cameron Diaz. This adaptation of Cybil really makes her look like a really badass female cop, who though scared shitless is able to adapt to almost any situation in a heartbeat without falling apart crying. Some people go down whimpering in a corner, others go out guns blazing.
Fun fact : the guy who draw the monster said he got inspired by watching his friend walking toward him wearing a jacket over this head and walking in a coky way

Michael Bassett did know the movie and liked it, so it's weird the sequel ended up doing a lot of retcon to be more closer to the game. At the very least he got a treatment and was forced to follow it rather than make an original story to better suit as a sequel to the film, which is unfortunate.

I didn't like this movie when I first watched it, and I am a MASSIVE SH fan just so you know, but I watched a documentary bout this film and I saw the amount of work and the ideas that the director pushed and thus I finally gained a ton of respect for this movie, and I mean with Akira Yamaoka on the soundtrack, the movie really does a good job of getting the tone right of the game series, so kudos!!!....

You'd probably try telling the creature the same thing, or some variation that equates to a warning of some sort; it costs you literally nothing but a couple of breathes, and anything to get your point across. The idea is to make the creature aware that you yourself are aware of it and willing to fight.

We have been getting actually good game adaptations these past few years but back when this aired, this was probably one of the only few that was actually legit good, of course reception is subjective but it was impressive for its time, hell i still go back to see from time to time to this day.

I love that Cybil looks exactly like the video game counterpart. This was back when movies would match the likeness of the characters with the actors.
