    Same happened with the Banana mustang, went 5.78 tossed belt and pushed water. It had the composite gaskets in it too at that time, didn't switch to MLS till later.

    Make sure to check your thrust bearings. I fought mine throwing belts all year bc of thrust bearings.

      Thrust is tight. We actually checked that bad when we were losing crank signal. Great suggestion though!👍

    I just tore down a 6.0 aluminum block DOD engine I bought at core cost unfortunately it wasn’t the lifters making noise. The timing tensioner had broken and ended up clogging the oil pickup and it had ruined bearings throughout, spun rod bearings, scored cylinder walls you name it’s trashed lol

    Isn’t there a little rig that can test for a blown head gasket? Or does it have too be actual coolant vs water?

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  Год назад

      Yes you can buy it at harbor freight. Or you can just pressurize the cylinders and look for bubbles like I did. The combustion gas tester is way easier but I don’t own one so old school it is for me. 👍

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  Год назад

      Make sure all the engine harness ground on the back of the heads are tight. Also make sure you don’t have the fuel injector or coil harnesses swapped from side to side. I’ve covered this issue in other videos on the channel. Matter of fact we had a similar issue with Chaos Theory on first startup a couple years ago because I forgot to tighten down one of the grounds on the back of the drivers side head. Engine would act like it wanted to hit but just backfire and shoot fireballs out the exhaust. All because of a bad ground connection.

    Hell I spent 2 weeks chasing my tail over a bad tank of gas. I was convinced I had a vacuum leak. Changed every hose, changed intake gaskets, carb gaskets, even tried different carb. Would idle but any throttle input it died. Hit me like a sack of bricks on my way to work one day. Turns out my fuel cell lid had started leaking during a storm.
