Got the Audi Coupe GT home and gave it a first inspection which looks promising

- Got my friend Des to fetch the Coupe and bring it back to his garage. After an initial inspection, the engine basically needs a full service, suspension replaced and bodywork very solid although needs full respray. On the whole, very pleased with my purchase :)

Paint code, there should be a build sheet attached to the boot lid, on mine it states paint code as LY3D Tornado red. Looking forward to seeing you tidy this one up.

i had one of these - a 4 cylinder carb. I replaced the pierburg carb with a webber and it made a huge difference, not only in economy, but also performance. this car was never known as a GT, it was simply the Audi Coupe. I had a 86' car d reg, now sadly in scrap heap heaven. We had many amazing roadtrips in the scottish highlands and islands - even took it up to the Mull rally one year.
In my opinion, all restyled Audi coupes with wide bumpers were called GTs. My exact GT and the nameplate on the dashboard speaks about it
What happened to the Coupe GT? Can't see any later videos on it..
It's sitting mothballed at my friend's garage. It's a project in itself and will take a lot of work. I'm planning a series on it but prob not this year. Trying to get the B3 going!

@@garageofdad I'd love to have enough space to do that, I don't even have a driveway so my one project car is at my folk's place and that's pushing it! Hope to get my own driveway soon and might even start youtubing progress then.

A 4 cylinder with a carburetor !?!?!??? I didn't know there was such a coupe gt ? I thought they were all 5 cylinder w bosch fuel injection, like mine is.
The Coupe Gt didn't really come with a carburetor. Only in 87 was the 1.8 k-jetronic born

@@TheNiksxxx the early 5-cylinder Coupes in 1980-81 were 1.9 carburettor engined. Fuel injected 2.0 and 2.2 came in about 1982.
@@markf4720 I watched the video and realized that it was not a coupe gt, but just an audi coupe, so there is a carburetor quite legally there.
