As we all know, Hendrix did this at Woodstock, and no one called him a traitor. Actually, it was musically descriptive with the whammy bar simulating the sounds of the rockets and bombs, way more so than any marching band could ever do. Think about that.

The Canadian anthem was done pretty well, and for the most part, the American anthem was as well, but I felt he improvised just a bit too much on that one. Either way, it’s cool to see a guitar player take center stage over a vocalist once in a blue moon.
