There are way too many assumptions at base of their thesis which is leading to wild conclusions. Lewis was spot on with the "sandwich, salad, soup" comparison. If you make too broad of categories of course everything will fit with enough mental gymnastics. Not too take it too seriously as it is obviously just some friends goofing around but I hate fun and the people who have fun. Which is why I watch the Triforce!(TM)
I was thinking why is Sky not a void space, because it's pure existence is to aid in moving from one defined space to another. Just using their definitions.
by a close approximation of the thesis; everything, including earth, the solar system, galaxy, down to atoms could be considered sheds/houses by the definition of the boundaries, the sky/garden shouldn’t exist based on their own thesis.
I hated literally everything about this house/room/shed thesis. It reminded me of that episode lewis had them rank minecraft blocks. Dota2 must be dull as hell for pflax's community to be so bored to create something so heinous.
The thesis model is too complicated. Here is my take: There are closed spaces, open spaces and semi-open spaces. A shed, and a car are closed spaces. A house is a closed space of closed spaces. A garden is a semi-open space, same as a tunnel or a stadium. The sky is a semi-open space, the ground closes one side. Outer space is open space, there are planets but you can move around them to continue any given direction. When you open a door within the house, the closed spaces merge. If you open the front door, the closed space becomes a semi-open space.
@@josephrobertson1724 Fair enough, that's what I thought. But you're treating houses as a completely closed space, no house is airtight (therefore not completely closed). You could just discount that though as it's an issue of semantics.
Under the salad, soup, sandwich idea what is a steak? Just a grilled piece of steak on a plate? I am hoping salad, because I am supposed to eat more salad.
The thesis follows form over function. That's the main problem it encounters. You cannot describe a gas giant as a garden, or a cave on Mars as a shed. A beehive isn't a house filled with sheds. You would need to partition things into natural or unnatural structures, which means you're defining them based on function as well. So you might as well only describe things based on function. Which is what we do.
The “question” or whatever the fck that was about spaces and definitions, was the absolute worst. I think this is the only time I’ve actually turned the cast off in the entirety of listening from its inception. No shame on you guys, but I feel like 20 minutes was wasted indulging some idiot that has too much free time and access to a dictionary, and needs a better job. Sorry for the actually negative and rude comment chaps. Edit: keep seeing this is a thesis project, it’s now even more dumb than office workers with nothing better to do. This is your magnum opus, THIS? Keep your definitions and pedantic writing
Will the Yogscast ever curb their discrimination, It's fucking insane, every single podcast there's some comparison about "Americans" but nothing about their own "British". As a Non-American, in America, the people here don't even really compare themselves to brits, if anything they look towards you. They mostly complain and compare between the states, anyone across the seas is "whatever." It is insane to group all of USA as "Americans", sure as a general term it may be, just as not all British are from Luton or Liverpool. If anything, it's rather funny being someone who can see these from the outside on both sides in a certain way, but it's rather funny that as more time progresses the British act more and more "American" than ever the past couple of years. A callback to war, if the British were not such snobs about "tea time." They would not have gotten such a bad reputation if they would have put aside their patriotism. Because of "tea time" a lot of british were KIA due to "needing their drink" without a care to any allys, and put a lot of Americans in situations having to save the british or get them out of dangerous due to their dim intellect that, this is maybe why you lost the war in the first place. Obviously no one cares or gives a shit, as much as I love these guys for decades and while I agree on a lot of topics over the episodes. The borderline patriotic racism can be given a rest, at least pump the brakes on it. Lewis and Simon had done it for years. Sadly it appears Ted also apart of it. Chris is the only one that appears to be genuinely open, probably a benefit of having actual experience living in a culture, than just stating it.
Aw, Lewis. Just play some Trains at xmas and we'll donate enough to make it worthwhile.
Sips: "I would never try to get into a fight"
Sips 10 minutes later at the super market: i'm fuckING STANDING HERE
it annoys me that these definitions are all fixated entirely on structure and not function. by this definiton a honeycomb is an arrangement of sheds
Are you trying to tell me that a honeycomb ISN'T an arrangement of sheds?
Probably a bad example. I agree with you for the most part, but a honeycomb is essentially a honey shed.

Honestly , I zoned out during the first part.
Lewis I will still donate and watch JJ even if all the games are bad.
Count me in to donate Lew. Also, if you want to do an extra few Fighting Fantasy books with Simon, I would be forever stoaked.
Is the thesis for a doctorate in pedantry?
The Biden improv ALWAYS makes me laugh without fail. Every single time, I howl with laughter at work. 😂😂😂
Please IP ban the room doctors.
The data omits a classification of my open concept grooving area.

disappointed one of the spaces explored in said thesis wasn't an arse. Surprising too, given the level of pedantic shite in it
I did a whole unit at university on Space Place and Environment, which looked into those concepts… it felt like bullshit at the time too

God yea right? I guess it's just not my humor. I've never found "is a hotdog a sandwich" funny either. Who cares?

@@AnthonyFuller Same as opening the front door. A closed space becomes a semi-open space.

@@AnthonyFuller yes I agree. We really are just talking about "Theoretical" houses where they are perfectly sealed etc.
I’m usually able to grit my teeth and bare it but this thesis is the most boring and substanceless thing they’ve discussed to date
I've finally caught up.
Peanut butter and cheese go great together. Also add marmite for another layer of niceness.
Lew lew i really like indie dev Soldak, they recently had a game Din's Champion go early access, add em to your list if you're running out of games!
Under the salad, soup, sandwich idea what is a steak? Just a grilled piece of steak on a plate? I am hoping salad, because I am supposed to eat more salad.
Sandwich without the bread
@shvelgud not a sandwich then!

Is there anywhere we can read the Spacial Thesis?
what was that argument
56:00 can’t Indian paneer dishes include both peanut butter and cheese?
wtf am I listening to
This comment section is great
Gordon Ramsay’s a blackbelt
Can I find the thesis on Spaces anywhere? Would like to reread it 😂

The spaces argument doesnt include somw very important factors.
Intended purpose. And common sense.
I'd like a sort of steam master code that redeems all the bundle games at one time please and thanks
Whats an elevator?
A void space
a shed
I feel like the mistress might not want to end the marriage if it is just fwb situation.
the problem with the thesis is that its reductionist, unlike my pp
Categorization arguments are just so fing boring I can’t believe qualified people would spend any time on this
Dota2 players are on another level
The house sandwich sort of nonsense is my favourite sort of low stakes debate/forum. Socratic method for the most banal topics
it's wank
Lewis = Obama 😂
