    Just a quick correction to this, the Omen X 27 DOES support VESA mounting, there is a plate included in the box but it was hidden behind a foam panel

      While it does support VESA mounting, it is a major pain in the ass to get multiple of these lined up with a non gas-arm type monitor stand as the stand and mounting mechanism because the pivot stays on the monitor with the VESA mount and these monitors are HEAVY. everything about this monitor besides the panel is exactly the same as the HP Omen 27, which was a 1440P 165hz monitor with an older panel, so make sure you are buying the correct monitor!

Doom 2016 in 1080p on 1070 max quality can easily go over 165fps, for example.

    I have this monitor now 4 weeks, it's a beast! Excellent monitor! And yes the vesa bracket is in the box, it's hidden in a different compartment . About the 240hz, you don't need displayport cable 1.4 if you dont need 10 bits color, I have cable 1.2, but pay attention how fast the cable is, at least 17 gbps. I have the displayport cable from Amazon, Cable direct, version 1.2, 17 gbps and it plays on 240hz flawlessly, but on 8 bit color. Under 240hz, like 165, 144, 120, etc, I get 10 bit color. So if you want 240hz AND 10 bit color, you need bigger bandwidt. On xbox: yes, it playes at 1440p at 120hz. In that case you need hdmi 2.0. Not every hdmi 2.0 is capable of that. Also here the bandwidt is the issue. I tryed many 2.0 wich did'nt worked. Some said, try 2.1 , that didn't worked either. I got black screens or flickering screens or was only able play 1440p 60hz or 1080p 120 hz. Finally I found the Ivanky hdmi 2.0 on Amazon, iVANKY High-Speed HDMI 2.0b, 18 Gbps, Mirror & Extend modus, Ultra HD 4K 2160p, HD 2K 1080p, QHD 1440p, HDCP 2.2, 48-bits diepe kleur, Audio Return (ARC), Dolby TrueHD 7.1 audio en Hotplugging) and that cable works with: Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, at 1440p 120hz. Also no problems with AMD Freesync Premium Pro, it playes everything very smooth. Amazing monitor.

    I think folks forget that one of the side benefits of high refresh rate monitors is going back to older games. You can easily hit extreme speeds with older titles, and usually on fairly mediocre hardware. These would also get you the closest to the feel of CRT monitors, with their high refresh rate and low input lag. Some food for thought.

      @benjaminoechsli1941 3 года назад

    For QnA: Can you explain overdrive, overshoot/undershoot and those graphs as i don’t understand em?
    Also what are these: Avg Rise, Avg fall, 0-255-0, best(what), worst(what), Avg dark level?

    • @nicksosa8225
      @nicksosa8225 5 лет назад +11

      Making Plays I believe it goes like this
      Undershoot is then the monitor doesn’t change the color of its pixels fast enough to accurately represent the next frame. This is why VA monitors get the worst “smearing”, and it makes sense. They have the highest contrast, which means that dark colors will take longer to switch to bright colors, since the darks can be like 3x darker.
      Overdrive is a feature to try to counter this. The monitor somehow forces the pixels to change faster. It DOES help the undershoot problem, but it also brings another potential problem.
      Overshoot is the opposite of undershoot, and usually happens when you turn the overdrive too far. When the pixels change color, they change too far than is really accurate. If the pixels needs to change from black to gray, they may initially run from black to light gray. They overshoot the brightness level. This effect is normally considered worse than undershoot or ghosting.

    • @Mecha120
      @Mecha120 5 лет назад +4

      @@nicksosa8225 overdrive works by adding a higher voltage to make the pixel gates open and close faster thus lowering pixel response time. If the overdrive is high though, it can lead to those gates accidentally opening again when they're suppose to close and vice versa which leads to reverse smearing.

    As an owner of this monitor for the past month, I can confirm everything hardware unboxed is emphasizing here. Coming from an alienware 3418dw (120hz IPS), I feel this monitor has better colors due to the overall brightness difference - they are very punchy without being washed out. The only downside is the vertical viewing angle - the contrast shift is in-line with most TN monitors. I primarily use this for overwatch with a 5700xt and can max out frames at 300 on 1440p (low settings) - the difference between 120hz and 240hz is quite amazing. Also, HP offers a 3 year warranty (that you can buy separately) on this monitor for under $50 with next day shipping - this covers dead pixels as well.

    Hi guys, I'm getting a monitor soon and don't know whether to pick from Pixio PX7 prime or the LG32GK650F monitor
    This monitor will be used for watching content such as movies Netflix and youtube and playing games.
    All statistics are from Hardware Unboxed videos.
    The pixio PX7 Prime specs are:
    - 6.5 ms of gtg response times
    - 8.13 ms dark level average
    - 66.4% refresh rate compliance
    - A response time average error of 5%
    - inverse ghosting of 7.3%
    - An input lag of 9.90
    - CCT of 6602 -after onboard manual tweaking from the video
    - Gamma of 2.191 -after onboard manual tweaking from the video
    - deltaE of 0.84 -after onboard manual tweaking from the video
    - 1035:1 contrast ratio
    - 27' with a flat IPS panel (10bit) (400nits)
    - £ 399.99 on amazon
    The LG32GK650F specs are:
    - 6.5ms of gtg response times
    - 11.28 ms dark level average
    - 79.1% refresh rate compliance
    - A response time average error of 2%
    - inverse ghosting of 4.5%
    - An input lag of 10.73
    - CCT of 6855 -after onboard manual tweaking from the video
    - Gamma of 2.186 -after onboard manual tweaking from the video
    - deltaE of 1.66 -after onboard manual tweaking from the video
    - 2463:1 contrast ratio
    - 32' with a flat VA panel (8bit) (300nits)
    - £ 299.99 from Curry's pc world
    Which one would be better suited for my needs? The size difference and the extra £ 100 does not change my decisions either. Or even better, if anyone could recommend me a better alternative 1440p 144hz monitor for around £ 300- £ 400
    Thanks a lot for helping out!

    VA is the only type of panel I’d buy anymore. Significantly better contrast and comparable colour and viewing angles to IPS and response times aren’t far off anymore either. I’m using a 144hz VA and don’t have any noticeable ghosting/smearing and couldn’t go back to the washed out TNs/IPSs.

    • @6Twisted

      @@Creationseed9 I have all three panel types right next to me. A BenQ 1080p/60hz/4ms TN, an Asus 1440p 60hz/5ms IPS and a Samsung 1440p/144hz/4ms VA. The IPS/VA have indistinguishable colour, viewing angles and response times but the VA has much better contrast. The TN just looks awful. I've played PUBG/CSGO on all three and the VA looks the best and clearest with black frame insertion (even at 60hz). My girlfriend has an ElectriQ 1440p/21:9/100hz/8ms VA and that has noticeable ghosting in the blacks so it depends on the spec of the VA whether it's good or not.

    • @jakegarrett8109
      @jakegarrett8109 5 лет назад

      Is such a minor difference worth $100? With that money just put it towards something better like a nicer mouse or keyboard or headset or mousepad or a better GPU (or a second/third/fourth GPU) or better water loop etc. If it’s really new design you can finally use that monitor with Freesync on Radeon hardware (preciously I would refuse to buy G-sync, unless it was like half the price as it locks you into a single vendor), and Freesync works on everything and works great on my Titan Xp collectors edition and I haven’t noticed any issues with it (I’m 99% certain it’s not on the aproved vendor list).
      To me, I don’t think there could be a big enough difference to justify that (for reference, I can easily tell input lag difference between 240 fps and 300 fps even on a 60 Hz 4k monitor, I almost uninstalled the game because it felt “broken” and then I saw my drivers had somehow activated some power saving feature that limited it to 240 fps instead of hitting the game engine cap of 300 fps, switched that off and voila, game “fixed”, lol!). I usually target 200+ fps even on 60 Hz 4k monitors for games competitive games like Fortnite, but now basically I have a dedicated system for just for that game (the Titan isn’t good for anything else) which is using a 240 Hz 1080p monitor with the Titan Xp Star Wars edition and typically a Ryzen 1700 unless I want to sub-zero cool the processor for lols on which the phase cooler testbench is built upon (goes down to -60c and up to -35c when driving really power hungry chips like an
      FX at 1.7 Vcore).
      My main build is Threadripper with quad Fury (over double the fps of the Titan Xp, it can do a mind blowing 100 fps in Crysis 3 at 4k ultra vs a very choppy 45 fps on the Titan, hence I say get more GPUs if you can afford it, as basically just Fortnite is the only time I’ll use a crappy Titan, everything else gets blown away with my multi-GPU machine, and yeah, Threadripper is basically mandatory for quad GPU if you’re wanting to replicate, PCI lanes needed!)

    Why does the refreshrate generally jump from 60Hz -> 120Hz and then suddenly 144Hz, 165Hz and 240Hz. Is there anything special with those specific numbers?

    • @MLWJ1993
      @MLWJ1993 5 лет назад

      Probably the paneltech (TN at first) being pushed to slightly below its absolute limit. 60Hz, 75Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz, 165Hz, 200Hz, 240Hz.
      I know for a fact any 165Hz monitor is an overclocked 144Hz monitor (usually requires a manufacturer set profile within the OSD to "unlock" it). The other numbers are pretty likely to be just overclocked settings as well.

    • @narfsc2657
      @narfsc2657 5 лет назад +1

      the refreshrates are usually a multiple of 24hz, which was and often still is the refreshrate used to get "fluid" motion in movies/TV/cameras. 60hz is 2.5x24hz, 120hz is 5x24hz and so on. 75hz is a multiple of 25hz 25 and 50hz are the standard refreshrates for the PAL(EU) format. The NTSC format however allows 30Hz/60Hz.

    Bought this today. I used my 144hz 1080p tn panel for over 9 years. Inever used an ips panel but i never hated it or had any problems. All i do is game and youtube web browsing etc. Fps is very important for me. I play old games like cs and halo mcc using a gtx 1080ti and a ryzen 5900x. I will upgrade my gpu once prices are acceptable. I bought this to play older games at a higher resolution and high fps. The IPS counterparts are like 250 bucks more expensive. People hate Tn panels but i was ok with it and dont have any complaints since i just sit in front of it and just play or watch RUclips. I hope i made the right choice to go for this instead of a 165hz ips which where i live is only around 100 bucks cheaper. I went for max fps to futureproof and make the jump from my old monitor to this one more noticable. I am a huge fan of high fps in games. Lets wait and see..

    I own two HP Omen 27, the "old" ones and it's pretty good tbh ! It's consumption with my settings (luminance 0, all the shitty leds turned off) is 22w.
    I find it a bit weird that this newer model eats up way more watts...
    Other than that, the picture quality isn't bad, of course if you pay attention you can see the TN "blur" thingie on bright images, but the reactivity is awesome and I'm not a photo editor, besides having f.lux at 3000K at all times hahah
    Also, compared to my two other HP Omen 27, the new X model has a bit more horizontal "blur" when scrolling text horizontally. Also takes a very long time to turn ON, as we can't disable the HP OMEN LOGO on this newer one. Overall I prefer the older Omen 27 screens, even though the new model has better colours, the contrast is very very bad. It's easy to see as I use them in triple screen.

    Why do your charts only show frame rates for ultra or epic settings? If you're getting a 240hz monitor, you're NOT going to be playing on ultra settings. Can you please consider usage when you do these reviews? For example, when reviewing 1440p 240hz monitors in the future, please show us the highest settings we can use and still get 200-240 frames in 1440p. I wanted to see the frame rate of a competitive online game being tested on 1440p 240hz , with competitive (performance focused) settings, not everything maxed out on ultra/epic.

    GREAT review! I'm definitely going to grab one. I mainly play Fortnite and Siege which with my 1080 ti and 9700k @5.2ghz I can hold fps around 200-240 and far exceed that in fortnite. There's no link for the X 27 in your description tho? Is it not out for sale yet?

    Any chance for a review for LG 27gl650F? It is rarely reviewed by proper channels. It would be super nice to see since this unit often goes on sale and it is in a good budget range.
